This location began a trend over 35 years ago serving the best quality product available at a very reasonable price. "AAA" Alberta Prime Rib and Certified Angus Steaks are the two staples that have made the Sawmill Restaurants the most popular dining establishments in the city. This location is divided into a dining room and pub. The dining room is like no other in the city, first class dining in a rustic Sawmill atmosphere. Surrounded by old sawmill blades measuring 5 feet in diameter and photographs as large as 30 square feet featuring sawmills over a hundred years ago.   • "We had a rib steak which was nicely done and enjoyable. Food portions were large enough that my husband and I shared one meal. The borscht was great. The service was excellent and since it was my husbands birthday, a sparkler was produced around which we sang happy birthday and a desert was provided free of charge. Something we never expected. We like the lay out of the place which contributes to the quietness so it is an excellent place to have business meetings as well. We have been coming to this facility for twenty five years and in fact will be returning for a lunch engagement on April 23. "

  • "Had never been to sawmill south edmonton before and I'm sooo glad we tried their Sunday brunch. Amazing variety for breakfast & lunch foods. A whole section of salad bar we almost missed! The service was impeccable. My water glass was never empty & coffee service was frequent. The desserts & chocolate fountain alone were impressive. Wow. Very reasonably priced. Reservations were easy. And bonus was I got $15 off my Buffett because it was my birthday! Score! :) I can see this being a new tradition! The only drawback was temperature in restaurant was way too warm."

  • "For a special occasion dinner, we were initially concerned as our waitress appeared to be on a frantic pace. We felt slightly rushed to order and our appetizers appeared before we had a chance to enjoy the wine. Once we explained we 'were not in a rush', our service was much more enjoyable. Escargot would have been nicer without all the onions, tomatoes and cheese covering and the house vinegarette was quite acidic. Other than that, our entrees (prime rib) and complimentary b-day dessert were marvelous! Reasonable prices for a good meal - worthy of a treat."

There were four generations in attendance and all came away with a positive experience."

  • "I was very impressed with the service and the food. The best Prime Rib Dinner and the Yorkshire Pudding( I have never seen them So Big. We really enjoyed our dining experience and will definitely be back. Everyone cleaned their plates and even had desert. Our Server was Steve and he was very friendly and has great customer service skills. He made us feel like we were his only customers and was very attentive. He even made my 4 year old grandson feel very special. In one Word AWSESOME!!"

  • "Once our reserved table was moved from beside a group who clearly was enjoying themselves, the noise level was conducive to a romantic night out. The steak that I had was cooked to my specifications but the seasoning tasted very salty. If it was salt that would increase people's blood pressure if they were at risk. Please reduce the saltiness. My spouse also had steak that he felt had much too black from the charcoal on it. We will return for a special occassion due to the great service and in hopes that the preparation has changed."

  • "The Sawmill is a good place to go if you have a larger group because they are one of only steakhouses that will allow you to make a reservation for 20+ on a weekend. Make sure you have a lot of time to spare at the end of the meal especially if you are doing separate bills because they have one of the oldest serving computer systems I have ever seen, it is not effocieent at all. It took us nearly one hour after our meals to recieve 10 separate bills. The serving staff was adaquate and they tried to ensure we were getting everything we needed, although there were quite a few drinks that never came after ordering. Sawmill was over all a low 3/5 experience, good for casual dining but definitely didn't have a wow factor."

Had crab cakes and they were outstanding and ordered the prime rib for the main course and it was done perfectly to how well done I like it. I would recommend the Sawmill to anyone who wants a great steakhouse and I will definitely return in the future."

  • "I used this tool to book valentines reservations for my boyfriend and myself two weeks in advance. Got a call the day of confirming my reso. Showed up on time (7:30) and could barely even fit in the door due to unsat tables. At 7:45 when we learned that the 7:00s hadn't been sat yet, we decided to opt out of waiting another 45 minutes for our rushed service and left. As a server of 5 years I couldn't vealieve an establishment could be so poorly thought out, especially on a day where it is literally all reservations. The Sawmill ruined our Valentines day and we will not be returning."

  • "Quite disappointed in the 45 minute wait for our reservation. Reservation was for 6:45, and we weren't seated until asking the hostess again after a 45 minute wait. We got the full Valentine special meal. Most of it was very good, except we were very disappointed in that we have 4 crab legs on the plate, only 1/2 of one of the legs had meat and it was evidently not freshly prepared. Our waitress was awesome, and even though she was incredibly busy, she took very good care of us. My one child could not eat her hot dog, as she said it tasted terrible,the other one enjoyed her chicken fingers."

  • "We made a valentines reservation and were not even able to get to the counter to talk to the host because the line up was out the door. Very disappointing . We made the choice to go to the sawmill bar to eat and the food was fantastic as usual,,,,,surprise surprise the entertainer Darrel Barr was amazing. So the ruined reservation in the nice atmosphere turned into a highly enjoyable evening. Fine dining in a bar makes no sense and our waitress was stressed and not nice, I guess she didn't realize that we were paying very good money and it was valentines and expected to have a happy server. Overall, the food and entertainment made up for everything else.....do not overbook your restaurant !!!!"

  • "Our server was pathetic. She didn't bring us bread, we had to ask,& she just made an excuse. Well if there wasn't any ready a heads up would have been nice but not bringing any wasnt acceptable. We heard the next table get offered an upsize of their steak size, but we didn't get offered that promo. Thankfully it showed up on the bill. When I went to pay I tried to use a visa gift card I had. She leaned in and talked to me like a baby to tell me I couldn't use it. Just didn't need her to treat me like she wasn't accepting my food stamps, I get friendlier service& treated more like our night is a special thing at Red Robins. We come here often, and we've always been treated like its special and that you're glad we're there."
