We were in and out within an hour with drinks, appys, and primerib dinner entrees! Thank-you Sawmill for a great evening. Look forward to spending more time on our next visit. Beautiful restaurant."

  • "Our family visited the Capilano Sawmill for my mom's birthday and what a disappointment. We were a table of seven divided between two tables and had to ask if we could put our tables together. The steaks had absolutely no flavor and mine was on the cold side for medium rare. Caesar salad ordered as an appetizer was served with the meal and had too much dressing. Our whole party felt the experience was lacking and will not be returning."

On the plus side, the ceaser salad was huge (if not super tasty) and my lobster tail was very good but that's where the good ended. The shrimps were very over-cooked and lacked any real taste whatsoever. I ordered my steak medium, which it was - sort of. The top half was beautiful and pink, but the bottom half was well done and totally without juice or taste. I'm not sure if the cook forgot about it, but a half-and-half steak is not what I am looking for from an upscale restaurant. This was the second time we tried the table d'hôte and both times we were less than impressed. All in all, for $99.95 I am looking for a good, if not great, meal."

When we arrived and inquired the attendant said "Oh yeah here it is - they left you a message but you didn't call back to confirm. - I'll see if I can get you in!" Really? Since when? Waited 15 minutes for our table. Our food took well over an hour to arrive and was barely hot. The Escargot was full of sand, which we mentioned, but it was left on our bill. No second bread basket was offered while we waited and waited for our food to arrive. Also, make sure to have plenty of appetizers, as the meals are usually not enough to fill you up."

  • " Mother's day brunch at Sawmill Capilano.Our service was impeccable Kelly doesn't miss a beat :), the food however, left something to be desired. While the selection was abundant, Eggs benedict in particular was soggy and 'off tasting' and the pasta near the omelet station tasted burned throughout.Temperatures need to be revisited.Carving Station prime rib was top notch and the short ribs were fantastic! Could have used mashed potatoes though.Dessert selection was much to our amazement, however, none of the desserts we tried were spectacular in freshness and overall quality.We will return to the Sawmill again, but are hopeful that they will make some improvements to the overall quality of their buffet service.It used to be one of the best."

  • "I was a little disappointed. There were too many people at one time. The booth we were in was small, and the food area was always packed with people, very disorganized. Toward the end, staff were obviously tired, one gal to the point of being rude. As for the food, well some of it was ok. The only really great part was the fresh fruit, it was good. The ham was good, but really only salad to go with it. I didn't have an omelet as their were too many people waiting. I don't think I would come again for brunch. Maybe an odd evening if it were a quiet night. Would not recommend the brunch."

  • "We chose the Capilano Sawmill for location, and of course the famous Sesame sauce. The group included 11 gentlemen, most of whom commented on the very nice portions - Salmon & Beet salad, the prime rib (Lenwich) sandwich and the taco salad. I had to have a steak sandwich to properly enjoy the famous Sawmill Sesame Steak Sauce, complimented by sweet potato fries perfectly done with an excellent, tangy dip. The Taco salad was also very fresh with a nice tortilla shell bowl, according to one colleague. Lastly the Fish and Chips looked just like the English original. Thanks very much for a very nice lunch."

Server was sloppy and asked if we needed anything during our meal but did not listen to us leaving us completly ignored. This place overbooks the restaurant to the point of servers being unable to manage a table properly. Our food was good but service killed the experience leaving me to boycott this place altogether. Drinks empty after appetizer. 30 min wait for dinner then 30 min for to go containers/dessert. Dont ask if you are not going to listen. Poor representation of good food. Avoid"

  • "The time was great from beginning to end. We were welcomed when we came in and quickly seated at a pleasant table. Our waitress was very kind and did not leave any of our needs unmet. The Brunch was beautifully arranged and delicious looking. The food was tasty and we enjoyed every bite. There was a lot of food, unfortunately I had no room for the delicate desserts that were offered. I would highly recommend the Sawmill at Capilano to anyone wanting both a great meal and great service."

  • "My husband and I go out to eat a lot. One of the things we love is to taste authentic good food - whether it be from the Mediterranean or right here at home. Hence, we were excited for some Alberta beef. But the steak we had at the Sawmill, paired with the house salad, mashed potatoes and one very large piece of broccoli (this was described as vegetables) was disappointing. The food should have been exquisite but it was disappointing - in part perhaps because the restaurant had a "feed the masses" or buffet feel to it. In any case, I wouldn't go back to it and for all you foodies out there, I wouldn't recommend it. "

Tea was slow to arrive, no refills were offered and the left overs that we asked to have packed the waiter threw out in the garbage. I have to say that Nathan needs some refreshing on his skills of service to patrons."
