A word from Savoy Bar and Grill Albuquerque
Abundant and beautiful California Wine Country in the Northeast Heights. Welcome to “Savoy”! A sun-filled, unpretentious but sophisticated, wine-friendly restaurant. As you walk into the dramatic high-ceiling entryway, you are moved in all directions. To the East you have a frosted view of the tasting room, loaded with fresh flowers and walls of glass-encased wine. To the West you get a glimpse of the lounge bar leading to the vine-covered patio. Light, open and airy with butter-colored walls, dark wood and black & white photography of wine country all come together to create an elegant yet surprisingly comfortable atmosphere in the main dining room. The dark and contemporary edge to the room is offset during the day with an abundance of natural light from large windows and three strategically placed skylights. That oven will be our culinary focal point for the exhibition kitchen, where our guests will see and smell the citrus roasted duckling, the roasted platter of shellfish

I made s reservation through Open Table three+ weeks in advance; the restaurant confirmed our reservation--and our request for the Fireplace Room--during a telephone call on 9/27. Arrived at the restaurant to be told there was no table available in the Fireplace Room. We were seated at a noisy table across from the kitchen area and the hostess said she would speak to her boss about the mixup. Never heard back, no adjustment on the bill, no "sorry." On my way out I asked what the manager had said; the hostess said another party had complained about their table and had been seated in the Fireplace Room--in our place. A manager came over, said she would make it up on a future visit for us. I told her we would NOT be back. I meant it.

Every dish, and we had a number, was beautifully presented, several-- the grilled Brussels sprout salad- were very creative as well as delicious. The wine list is quite good and best of all, when you want just a little more wine, you can get half a glass. An excellent meal and the service was expert and unobtrusive.

Love this eatery and love getting friends to try it out. This time was also a great dining experience. Laila, our server was fantastic and very attentive. The food was excellent: sweet corn ravioli, and margherita pizza. Yummy and relaxing, an oasis in the city.

  • Great food but felt rushed

We had barely sat down when a waiter was running through the specials for us. The main meal came out before Id finished my salad. My friend finished eating and they came and wanted to take my plate (which I let them pack up). They kept filling the water when it was down only a tiny bit (which I prefer to not being filled admittedly). They dropped off the bill when we had barely finished and came by to pick it up when we hadn't even opened it. So rushed, like 45 minutes. The place was empty, so we sat and had our nice relaxing conversation AFTER dinner. I was annoyed. Food was great, though, and my friend did not feel rushed like I did (but then, he doesn't eat in fine restaurants as often as I do). Attentive service overdone.

Savoy is fast becoming my place of choice for business lunches. The food is great, the staff always professional and more often than not it is a place that garners, "Ooohs, and Aaaahs" from my dining companions; many also tell me it is a restaurant they always see, but have never visited. Please make it a point to take a business contact to Savoys for lunch, you will get serious points for the hidden gem, your business contact will spread the word and the restaurant will reap the rewards! Let's make this a win-win for everyone. Enjoy.

The food is great and the ambience is quiet and elegant. Not all the tables were full. Our waiter seemed distracted and disinterested. It took too long to get our drinks and he didn't come back often enough. All in all a wonderful place although a little pricey. The service was not what you would expect at such a high-end restaurant.

A colleague and I had endured a dearth of good food while on business travel a few days in New Mexico. Savoy came recommended (by a bartender at another restaurant!) and totally lived up to expectations. The food was fabulous...and if they have their carrot soup with ginger you HAVE to have that. The service and decor were also outstanding, but the nicest surprise was their absolutely lovely and unique wine list and the ample pour flights you could select.

We had a party of 5, with a variety of tastes. The menu offered something for all, and the execution of our selections was excellent. Everything was served in an appropriate sequence and we not hurried at any time. We have been several times, and all were a quality experience. Recommend to anyone in the heights looking for a not highly advertised gem.

Savoy used to offer a weekly Sunday Brunch, but I suppose the demand wasn't high enough. Too bad, the Easter Brunch was great! Our only complaints were that the asparagus was a bit over cooked and the wasabi mashed potatoes needed a bit more wasabi to get the effect. The service was wonderful.

My husband and I dined at Savoy some time ago and after being stuck with a table in what seemed like the path for all the wait staff to and from the kitchen, we just didn't go back. This time I requested a quiet table and that is exactly what we had--a wonderful corner table in the fireplace room that made the evening very enjoyable. Our waiter was professional and attentive, and the food was excellent, as was the wine. We will return and we will always be certain to request the fireplace room.

Since I am gluten and dairy free, and I like good food, it is sometimes challenging to eat out. Given that this was my Mom's 85th birthday I was looking for someplace special, upscale, but also given her age I wanted a quiet, warm environment. Mom likes fish while Dad likes meat, so there's that as well. I settled on a comfort food lunch enjoying the winter squash and red chili soup, and the green salad. The salmon was Mom's choice, and she said several times that it was the best salmon she'd ever had. Dad got his favorite French onion soup and the forest ham and cheese sandwich. Our meals were excellent, the service was great, and we stayed for a couple of hours enjoying the after lunch quietness over coffee.

Went here for ABQ restaurant week. It was a great deal for two people that included an appetizer, main course, and dessert for $30. We had the fresh catch of the day and prime rib. Both were good. The desserts-- incredible. We usually don't order dessert but got one of each and they were awesome. The table next to us immediately looked over and said "we should order the dessert too" would definitely recommend again!

We have been here for lunch but dinner was a bad experience. The French onion soup was the worst ever. The prime rib was dry and no au jus was offered. We expected more from a "steakhouse". The waitress was not up to par, more like diner material.

As a party of four, we each tried a different entree on their Restaurant Week menu and we each enjoyed what we ordered. The greens in the salad were fresh and crisp and dressed well. • Disappointing experience at Savoy
    Joshua
    Dined on 2/27/2014
I am sad to say that my friend and I had a bad experience at Savoy. First, we wanted to make a reservation for 6:30, but we were told that the only times available were 6:00, 7:00, etc. When we got to Savoy, the restaurant was practically empty and stayed that way the whole time we were there. The waiter was dismissive and seemed in a big hurry. The food was mediocre, at best, and my risotto cake was literally burned. I had to ask the waiter to have another one made. The dessert was cold and tasted like it had been made the week before and kept refrigerated until we ordered it. I have had great experiences dining in the bar area, and so if I ever do go back to Savoy, that is where I will choose to dine. VERY disappointed!

For my first visit to Savoy, I had high expectations. The food was good, but still left something to be desired. The appetizers were great, my husband's steak was very good, but my chicken was just OK. Desserts were good but not great. My real frustration was the exceptionally slow service between courses - however, this was during Restaurant Week, so they may have been busier than usual.

Went for anniversary - have been before. Good food as usual. Service was a little slow but they were busy and we asked to sit at different table than where hostess was trying to seat us. May have messed up the timing for the waiters. I was disappointed when I asked them to box up the remainder of my meal to take home only to find out the next day they didn't include my potatoes.

The food was good but the portions seemed meager for the price. Presentation was nice, I ordered their scallop and shrimp special for $30 and got two small shrimp and two medium scallops over some mashed potatoes, along with 3 wilted carrots. Really? For $30 bucks you could have added a extra shrimp or scallop to make seem like you are getting your money's worth. My husband ordered tenderloin medallions with wine sauce, again good, but only 5 small pieces of tenderloin.
