  • Public Transit: Lines 609 and 18 stop less than a block the the North on Huron, and Lines 4 and 3 stop on Liberty. A word from Sava's
Sava"s Restaurant, originally Sava's State Street Cafe, opened June of '07 at a small location across from our current space. We started small, every year adding, changing, and working with our customers to achieve an atmosphere and menu that we were proud of. The quaint cafe was merely a jumping off point for the elaborate expansion that later followed. In August of '09 we opened Sava's Restaurant in the beautiful location we're in today, making a name for ourselves based on great service, a young, welcoming atmosphere, & delicious dishes.
We cater to a wide range of clientele, including students, professors, townies, out-of-towners – we open our doors to everyone. From our eclectic menu our best dishes are homemade, with quality ingredients from local vendors. We like Michigan beef, produce, and beer! Join us and experience Sava's for yourself!

  • "I reserved this restaurant for a Girls Night Out - party of 4. The restaurant is just as beautiful as the pictures show. One surprise was the quaint outdoor seating. The unfortunate surprise was the inconsistency in quality of food. Two of our appetizers had great potential but ended up way over done (the server also asked for our opinion so this was explained to her). Everyone enjoyed their entrees - portions were mediocre. Our server was attentive and professional. I would try this restaurant again."

  • "I was celebrating my birthday and for an appetizer, we ordered their risotto balls, they were out of them. For an entrée, I had miso salmon which was undercooked, the broccoli was barely blanched and took forever to chew, and the whole dish was drenched in salt and decently over seasoned. Had their house class for a drink and it was extremely strong. I'm a rum drinker and thought it was in excess. Overall, wasn't thrilled. The only thing going for that place on that particular night was the atmosphere."

  • "This was our first time at Sava's. It was recommended by friends that live in Ann Arbor. We wanted a nice place for lunch before the soccer game. It was perfect. The food was delicious and the service was great. After we were seated, we had to move from a table to a booth, so that they could accommodate another party. We received complimentary desserts for that. That was a nice touch."

  • "I've been to the restaurant many times but this was my first trip to the Sunday buffet breakfast. The food was fantastic and very obviously all made in-house. Everything I sampled was delish. There were many choices on the day I was there including several egg dishes (scambled eggs, strata and a lovely egg casserole made with phyllo dough), chicken piccatta, a fish dish, pad thai, and all the accompanying side dishes. Starters included oysters, peel-and-eat shrimp, grilled vegetables, salads, deviled eggs and many more. The desserts won my heart. I loved the small sizes as it allowed for more tastings. The buffet price includes basic beverages - coffee, tea, milk and soda. For a $1 you can also enjoy bloody marys and mimosas."

  • "Food was excellent, server was cold and offputting. Would not respond when you asked for something or placed an order for food, just stared at you, which was strange. The food was fresh and very good however and that's why we go there. Fresh flower displays throughout the restaurant were a nice summery touch as well."

  • "The food was good. Not phenomenal, but definitely enjoyable. I was expecting a little bit more quality for the price, honestly. The ravioli was good, but not $2 per each little ravioli good. The seafood pasta was very expensive. There were a couple pieces of seafood, but the pasta was nothing special. The polenta fries were the only thing we ordered that I felt were worth the expense. The atmosphere was also a little too, I don't know how to put it... yuppie? modern? The music was mostly inoffensive techno, the seats are all upholstered in pleather. Like maybe well-off Gen-X professionals would enjoy it. I personally like a little more of a rustic feel. The staff were very friendly and helpful."

  • "We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at Sava's, but I feel compelled to warn future diners that the menu on their website contains lower than actual prices. Every item I wanted to order cost more at the restaurant than I expected from viewing the web menu. Wine especially was more expensive, and the bottle I pre-selected was no longer available. One other thing - they do not serve bread! Nothing to eat as you sip a pre dinner glass of wine unless you order an appetizer. I had the capellini (which was wonderful) but without bread, I felt like a heathen. We also had the feeling that we were being rushed through the experience (no time to enjoy). Again, we enjoyed the food, but I feel like the price changes should be mentioned."

  • "Sava's was excellent. I went with my mom and we ordered delicious fish tacos and very flavorful wild mushroom spaghettini. The creme brule had an interesting balsamic glaze and it was the best creme brule I've ever tasted. It was so good, we went back a couple days later and got drinks. I recommend the margaritas, it may be the strangest Margarita recipe, but it works very well and it's well worth the 9 bucks. If I'm ever in Ann Arbor again, this will be the FIRST place I go."

  • "we found Sava's online randomly when visiting the city for a concert. What a lucky find! the specialty drink menu was so unusual that I tried two different cocktails and usually only drink wine. Both were amazing. Our server was efficient, friendly, and very knowledgeable regarding food and drink. Although obviously busy, she treated us like we were her family. The food is exotic but domestic enough to be very enjoyable and in a satifying portion; and I can't adequately describe the artistic presentation. We dined outside and it was casual but classy and very European in ambiance. I specifically recommend their rendition of Long Island Ice Tea called State Street Tea. Will try to copy it at home!"

  • "All of my dishes were mediocre. They were not great but not horrible. However, the person I was eating with had a terrible lobster ravioli. It was borderline inedible and she left more than half of it on the plate. It was also a very small portion size. The service was bad as well. Our waiter seemed to really rush us through dinner, bringing our main courses out when we had eaten less than half of our appetizers. He was also very inattentive, only around to take our order and bring our food. This was the second time I've been to Sava's for dinner and while the service the first time was better, the food was equally subpar. For the price and quality of food, there are many other restaurants I would much rather go to in AA."

My hamburger was pretty good and medium rare as I requested, but we should have sent the beet salad back......it was totally over saturated with dressing and had some nasty little brown, mushy balls of something about which we never did get an answer from the waiter . It appears they have the standard breakfast food; eggs, biscuits and gravy, bacon, both sausage types, etc. My favorite was the compliment of smoked salmon, meats and cheese - but they also have a great assortment of special items. The house-made pop tarts are inventive. At only $19 for the buffet and only +$1 for your first mimosa, you can't beat it. If the buffet isn't your thing, Sava's has an amazing brunch menu. Strawberry crepes were picture perfect, and tasted even better."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised to learn that Sava's offered a breakfast menu daily, so we ventured in on a Saturday morning. Omelette selections were plentiful and quite a variety on the menu. Tried the veggie omelette, and it was good but felt like the dish was missing something...served with side of roasted rosemary red skin potatoes, which were excellent. I'll have to try something else on the menu next time."
