  • "This place is awesome! I will definitely go back! Food was fantastic, service was friendly, and cheesecake was spectacular!"

  • "From the minute we walked in, we were treated wonderfully. The server greeted us and she was friendly, knowledgable and charming. We were not rushed, but paced perfectly. The food was truly special. From the quinoa appetizer to the magnificent dessert. It was not crowded, so we felt like we were in our own little food paradise."

  • "Our first time in this neighborhood restaurant--it was a lovely spot, great food and lots of it--wow! Friendly but sophisticated. Terrific accoustics, the staff did all they could to make it a positive dining experience. BYOB is always a plus--and those brussel sprouts! They could've been the whole meal. We've found a new favorite place for dinner!"

  • "2nd time I've eaten there and both times the food was excellent. Portions large. Liked that a salad came with the meal."

  • "I have dined at Sausalido several times and have always had a great meal. My friends and I all had something different --the lamb, the risotto, the crab cake, and the pork chop-- and all were excellent. I would definitely recommend Sausalido to everyone.I like the idea that it is BYOB, too."

  • "We eat here often and are never disappointed. The food is varied, interesting and consistently well prepared."

  • "The food was delicious, but I was a little distracted because the restaurant's layout is small and crowded. The servers were constantly bumping into our table, and truthfully the noise level was too high (likely because the tables were so close together). I would go back for the food for sure, but the crowded noisy atmosphere was not ideal."

  • "Great service and really tasty food! Everything about this restaurant had personality and left me wishing this could be my go-to spot for a nice meal; alas, I don't live in Pittsburgh. The risotto special and the ravioli proved that pasta is not an afterthought at this restaurant, but we were very taken with the pork chop and the flashfried leeks. Wonderful meal!"

  • "My husband and I booked a reservation on Open Table. Went to the restaurant and were seated right away. The atmosphere is really quaint. The lighting was perfect, dim and romantic. Food was ridiculously good!! The portions are great, since we both like to eat alot, we were very happy. The only thing that got us was how long it took for soup and my side salad to come out. First the soup came out and then my salad 20 minutes later? But we will definitely be back soon! Overal. this was a great date night for my husband and I. While we were there we could see that there was another room in the back, so I am sure Sausalido would be perfect for smal gatherings or private dinners."

  • "2 of three apps came out on time, [ brussels sprouts w/ "aged cheddar" and fried quinoa puffs both were OK, though the I question the veracity of the "aged cheddar"] the 3rd app, bacon, was "going to be delayed", yes bacon will take longer than the other apps. server asked if would like our salads while we waited for the bacon. salads were fine. Entrees were below average. pumpkin ravioli in sage shallot honey crisp apple sauce. Pasta tasted fresh, cream sauce was very watery, and the inclusion of fresh granny smith apple slices left us puzzled. tilapia on potato salad came out so hot in the middle I asked if it was microwaved.as it was too hot to eat and the potato salad dressing had broken. when the bacon DID arrive it was very good."

  • "An excellent neighborhood restaurant - small dining area, and b.y.o.b. (which I like). The appetizers were unusual and very tasty. I particularly liked the quinoa puffs. The specials were salmon oscar and filet mignon. We ordered one of each only to be told they were out of the filet, so my date settled for the new york strip. The salmon, and crab meat rosotto were amazing. One of my all time favorite dishes and the portion was generous enough that I saved a morsel for my next days lunch. The steak was disappointing, but the sides (twice baked potato with mushrooms and root vegetables) were almost enough to save the dish. Almost. The meat was unevenly cooked and a little tough."

  • "The food and service at this BYOB restaurant is great. This was our third or fourth dinner there and we were very happy with the experience. Reservations were taken on time in spite of the restaurant being very busy. The other patrons seemed to be enjoying the food as well."

  • "My wife and I very much enjoyed our meals at Sausalido. The menu was interesting and made selecting a bit difficult, but we were both very happy with our selections. The gouda cheese appetizer was particularly delicious, as was the bread pudding dessert. The house salad that came with the meal was a bit blah, but that was the only complaint we had with the food. It was a nice and quiet place, with some great background music. Only complaint about the ambience was that it was a bit cold inside. I would highly recommend Sausalido and look forward to returning."

  • "I've been going to Sausalido since the first weekend it opened. Have never been disappointed but I didn't expect that the place go up another notch. The winter menu was exceptional. I had the lamb orechietto & it was fantastic. Service was great & the brown sugar bacon sticks as a starter would convert even a vegan."

  • "Our group of 6 had a wonderful night dining here for the first time. They just started their Winter menu and we had 4 different entrees. They were all terrific and showed the type of imagination that chain restaurants can't touch. The bacon strip appetizer was fantastic ( but is pricey at $8 for 4 strips of bacon). The complimentary bread and bean spread were an unexpected treat that we could not get enough of. It is BYOB too. The only negative was that our waiter was not too familiar with the new menu and our meal delivery was staggered ( about 5 minutes from the time the first meal was delivered until the last). Also it was a VERY cold night and a stiff breeze went through the entire dining area every time the door opened."

  • "This is an awesome place in an awesome neighborhood! The menu has a lot of unique choices. It's BYOB which is great. I would definitely go back to try other offerings from their menu. Great place."

  • "We went to this restaurant the first time during restaurant week - everything was delicious! There was so much food we had to get to-go boxes! Many restaurants go a bit skimpy with their restaurant week menus, but not Sausalido! We will definitely be back!"

  • "We went for the restaurant week special, and both chose the roasted brussel sprouts with gorgonzola and the pumpkin ravioli. First they brought a basket of fresh bread with a plate of hummus, with balsamic and pieces of sweet red pepper. We were surprised when the waiter offered to bring more after we scarfed down the first plateful. The portion size of the brussel sprouts was amazing...and absolutely scrumptious. The Pumpkin ravioli was the best I've had with a great pumpkin flavor. We didn't get her this time, but Erin is the BEST waitress ever. Hey, I gave her a $10 tip THIS visit just because she was so good the LAST time we were there!"

  • "Sausalido was delicious. Great food with generous portions and well developed flavors. I tried the restaurant week menu which was more than enough food, the appetizers were huge, enough to share among 2 or 3. The house salad with roasted beets was a nice cleanser between courses but still fresh and tasty on its own. I chose the pumpkin marscapone ravioli for my entree. The filling was savory and sweet but the sauce was the most remarkable part. It contained poached apples and sweet marscapone cream to compliment the pumpkin perfectly. Overall the service was great and the food was beyond expectations, I would definitely return."

  • "Went for restaurant week with a friend and I always love the BYOB option. The food was great, good menu and nice restaurant week options. Easy to get a reservation through open table - the place is fairly small so you'll definitely want a reservation. Will definitely go again."

  • "We visited Sausalido during the Winter 2014 Pittsburgh Restaurant Week and were not disappointed. The food was great and I see ourselves coming back in the future."

  • "This was my 2nd time dining at Sausalido. The first time my experience & food was much better. Recently, It was 2 of us. My friend brought a bottle of champagne, she asked for ice so naturally the Champagne could sit and be chilled, they brought us a cup of ice. We ordered an appetizer that was on special that night & they brought us the wrong one. The one we received was not only wrong but also cold. We mentioned it to our server & they were more than accomodating & did not charge us. Our entree's were just OK. You do get large portions but I've had better crab cakes & felt the food was not very fresh & cold. The service is good & the atomosphere is quaint but compared to other resutaurants in the city the food is just OK."

  • "We showed up here later in the evening after being put on a wait at another restaurant. Boy are we happy we chose Sausalido. Not only was the food excellent, but the service was also first class. We will surely be coming back!"

  • "The lobster ravioli appetizer was outstanding. We had the petit filets, we order the filets medium rare and they were cooked to perfection! Also, smoked Gouda mashed potatoes=addictive. It was the perfect NYE dinning experience, both relaxing and delicious!"

  • "A lot of restaurants in Pittsburgh fail to deliver on really good food. This one will not disappoint."
    Dined on 12/21/2013
  • "Sausalido has never disappointed me or anyone of several groups I have brought there for dinner. The food is always exceptional. We really enjoyed the smoked gouda and brussel sprouts appetizers. It's also BYOB which helps to keep the price down."
    Dined on 11/19/2013
  • "Food was excellent from start to finish! We shared several appetizers, including the smoked Gouda, brussel sprouts and pumpkin shrimp bruschetta and all tasted great! The sprouts were not covered in oil or fried like you find at many places, and they tasted great! The complimentary white bean dip is a nice tasty touch! I had the pork chop, which was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the potatoes. Service is good, but they do seem to want to get you in and out quickly, this is BYOB which helps keep costs down, but entrees are a bit pricey! I definitely would recommend and plan on going back! They only split checks for parties over 6, but they did split the cost on cards so that worked fine!"

  • "Service is terrible here. Even with a reservation had to wait 30 minutes to be seated and there is no bar or waiting area. Once we were seat we had to wait 20 minutes for a waiter to come to our table. My steak was over cooked and it took a long time for the food to come. I would not go back."

  • "We enjoyed a marvelous dinner once again at Sausalido. Crab cakes outstanding and risotto of the day good as usual!! Our server Ed was outstanding, very hard working and attentive and friendly. We were seated upstairs, don't particularly like it up there, would prefer to be downstairs but overall our party of 4 had a very enjoyable evening!"

  • "My wife and I made reservations for Saturday night about 5 hours before we were going to arrive. Not surprisingly a table wasn't ready when we arrived, waited about 20 minutes for a table. We started off with the Smoked Gouda and it was amazing. We had the daily risotto and the daily fish which at the time was trout. But meals were very flavorful and we are hoping to come back for the pork special. The night we were there the restaurant was crowded and the tables very close, but not loud even with the few groups present. Overall, food was great and we will be heading back soon."

  • "My wife and I have never had a bad meal here. She almost always orders the salmon, but chose the crab cakes this time. She wasn't disappointed. I ordered the day's risotto -- spinach, bacon, gorgonzola -- very tasty. They give you a lot for a reasonable price here. Our only complaint is that the cheesecake wasn't ready for serving when we dined; it's so good here that we often indulge."

  • "Our waiter Max was terrific and guided us through the menu so that we all ordered something we really liked. The crab cakes were awesome and the risotto as well. The star of the night was the bean dip that comes with the bread... why the heck is that so good?? Made me look good in front of the stepkids....."
