  • Private Party Facilities: Satis Bistro is approximately 2,500 square feet with two main dining rooms and seating for 75 people in total. The mezzanine dining area is perfect for smaller, more intimate affairs like birthdays or showers when less than 36 people are planned to be seated. Larger parties such as: weddings and fundraisers, require renting the entire restaurant which can be accommodated by request. There are an additional 25 seats at the wine bar, and 26 seats on the terrace for al fresco, seasonal dining. Outdoor seating for private events is only permitted when the entire restaurant is rented out. While Satis is typically closed Mondays and not open for lunch during the week, private parties and events can be arranged any day or time with advance notice.

  • Public Transit: Satis Bistro is conveniently located only five blocks from either the Exchange Place and/or Grove Street PATH Stations. The NJ Transit Hudson Lightrail Station at Essex Street is only four blocks away. The NY Waterway Ferry is also just two blocks away.

  • Parking Details: Street parking only. However, there is a Central Parking garage in the Liberty Towers, at the corner of Morris & Greene (1 block southeast of Satis). Validated parking is available for private parties only, inquire with management.

Satis Bistro offers an eclectic European menu with several Italian, Spanish and French favorites among others. Satis is a casual dining establishment, open Tuesday-Sunday that offers wine and tapas bar in addition to a full menu. Also enjoy spacious outdoor seating seasonally on the terrace.

  • "We made the reservation and the place was nice - cozy - but welcoming on a chilly night. We were seated and drinks came quickly. The tapas plates were awesome - the octopus, dates and spicy potatoes were easily the best things we had tonight. Unfortunately, that's where the train goes off the rails folks. My partner and I had the short ribs - who overcooks simple braised short ribs these days? These people do! The beef had minimal moisture and was very stringy - also all beef flavor had disappeared. The sauce was incredibly over reduced, and had whole peppercorns in it which my partner got 2. The chorizo mash potatoes were awesome. Desserts needed help too - everything seemed overcooked - careful with chocolate items."

  • "Visiting Jersey City only occasionally, it is always important for me to find the perfect dining place for me and my foodie son. Our five-member family reunion decided on Satis Bistro, and found it friendly (altho rather noisy on a Saturday night), the drinks fine, and the food very good. Short ribs, a whole grilled ocean trout which was shared around the table, a surprising yet wonderfully matched clams and pork shoulder dish, and truffle ravioli--all were prettily presented and salted just right. Only complaint--for a $36 appetizer of cheese and salami, etc, selected by the chef was really small--small slices of cheese and meat, and similar observation of the roast beet and green salad. Advice--skip the appetizers."

  • "The restaurant is nice and has very high ceilings and big windows. We enjoyed the charcuterie (except for the prosciutto which tasted gamey and needs to be aged more). The white sangria was refreshing and matched our fish entrees. We got the swordfish with brussel sprouts and Fish fillet over cauliflower, pine nuts and grapes. Both entrees were really good. Will eat here again to try the ravioli, which we saw several people order."

  • "My friend and I live in Hoboken and the Amazon Local Deal inspired us to try some Jersey City dining at Satis Bistro. We throughly enjoyed our experience and we plan to return. We enjoyed both the soup and salad appetizers. The ricotta gnocci main course was a home run! And the prepared the beef over brussel sprouts instead of mashed potatoes for my friend who is mildly lactose intolerant. We appreciated the friendly and accommodating waitstaff. The gelato and sorbet were excellent too, although not particularly inventive."

We've had brunch and dinner a few times and think it is one of the special places in Jersey City. 30's something type crowd, interesting take on traditional dishes (short ribs with chorizo) and monster desserts.   • "The service and some dishes were lack luster, the waiter only asked how our meal was after I and another guest had finished but forgot to ask the female guest sitting next to me. Her food was not what she had expected neither in flavor or in the presentation of the dish. She took two bits in total. The waiter returned and asked if she wanted it wrapped. The guest politely stated "No thank you the food was not to my liking", upon this statement the waiter asked "Why had she not presented any complainants earlier". To this the guest responded "If you would've asked how my meal was I would have told you earlier that I did not like the dish." The waiter did take the dish off the receipt but the experience of eating dinner together was ruined."

  • "Very different from most northen NJ restaurants, lots of differnt ways to enjoy the menu. We shared the chef's suggestion cheese and charcuterie plate, all very fine selections, then ravioli for my husband and head-on shrimp and chorizo for me. Very good. Patatas bravas were very salty, very spicy, but with more aioli, would have been fine. The restaurant was very crowded, but the wait staff did everything they could to pay attention, apologized when there was a delay, and made us feel like valued guests despite a very busy crowd. The noise level is high, but we encounter that in lots of places and don't mind it. Great drinks menu in addition to the wine list. We will be back."

  • "It might have been the night we were there, but we had to wait almost 45 minutes for a table even though we had a reservation. The manager apologized and bought us a round of drinks because we had to wait so long, but even once we were seated, the service was a bit slow. The food selection was interesting and everything was well-prepared. I was disappointed to hear they'd run out of the chicken tangine, but the swordfish was amazing, and I can't believe that I ate--and enjoyed--the pork belly that accompanied it. My husband ordered his usual steak frites and said it was just like his grandmother used to fry up for him. I'm hoping that we were just there on an off night because the food, wine list, and ambience are worth going back for."

  • "I went here based on local favorable reviews, and I was not disappointed. Service was attentive, I would not have expected less since the place is quite cozy. The food shines, quality ingredients skillfully prepared. The average price per person is high. Definitely worth treating yourself to meals like this. My only complain was the texture of the filling for the veal ravioli, I expected braised and chopped veal chunks but it was instead filled with ground veal."

  • "My husband and I finally made it to this Paulus Hook establishment for a birthday dinner celebration and thoroughly enjoyed every moment, from the ambience to the food to the service. We shared a cheese plate and then arugula salad, which were both a great start to our entrees. My vegetable cassoulet was delicious but my husband's ricotta gnocchi was even tastier, and I would get that next time. Apple pie with gelato for dessert was a perfect ending to a great meal. We will definitely be going back."

They do have a pre fixe menu (during weekdays, I think) that's the same price but is slightly more limited. The meat and cheese plate was great, and my chicken tangine was excellent. The two-story-high ceilings make it a unique space in Jersey City."

  • "Great experience as always. The salumeria Hungarian ham was superb as an appetizer. The special ribeyes for 2 times 2 were pretared to perfection rare and medium rare. The Malbec went very well with the dish. The Hungarian eau de vie was a nice touch as an aperitif was a nice much appreciated touch. Since 3 out of 4 of us were celebrating a January birthday the aperitif was offered to all 4 of us. Balasz and Zolty were magnanomous."

  • "From the ambiance to the service to the food, what a dining experience! I love the seating on benches with comfortable pillows. The service was great with friendly and knowledgable waiters. The best part was the food! Had the chef's selection of meats and cheeses as an appetizer and the truffle veal ravioli, which was amazing! They also have a great wine selection.   • "We have been back quite a few times now and wish the menu would change seasonally. It is a very good but limited menu so more specials would be helpful. Our table for four bill was $275 including only two mixed drinks, appetizers, entrees and two desserts.. Price l was fair but not an especially good value tonight. Portion sizes were quite adequate. Reservations were honored exactly as requested. We will return but take a brief break for a bit...seeking variety."

This particular night, we arrived a bit earlier than our 9PM reservation and they were having a party upstairs so we opted for eating at the bar. It was an interesting evening but vibrant and fun. The bar staff were incredibly accommodating, so as it quieted down, and our reservation was ready, we decided to eat at the mostly empty room; it was Friday night. We ordered a salad and two Osso Buccos over mashed potatoes, amazing as usual. We also ordered a bottle of wine that we had finished before our meal arrived. For some reason, it took our meal a while and wasn't hot. I ordered a second glass of wine; the tender only poured one, which I found odd after ordering an entire dinner."

  • "I thought they had a great selection of wines and a varied menu that was thoughtfully executed. The service was good, but very slow. It was a quiet evening, there were only 3 other tables in the whole restaurant and it just seemed like everything took a very long time, every step of the way. We had to track down our server for the check, even though we were clearly done. The servers were enthralled with their own conversation and not paying attention to the guests in the dining room. We wil be back, but hopefully the service will be a little bit quicker, we arrived at 6pm and didn't leave until 9:15, a pretty long dinner for only two guests with 2 courses. The food was excellent and although we didn't have dessert, they sounded incredible."

  • "This little restaurant was a buzz with activity. The food was outstanding, while a little less salt would have been nice. The appetizers were just the right size. I had the duck, two ways, and was blown away by the flavors. The dessert was not too sweet or too large. The only complaint I had was the noise/music was a bit too much. That could be due to two factors: 1. the speaker was directly over our table and 2. I'm of the older generation (49) and like to hear the other person I'm with without yelling. Perhaps the upstairs would have been better. Overall, a great place."

  • "My wife and I love this place. The food is incredible. Start with either an appetizer or pick from the excellent section of meats and cheeses. Even better, let the chef pick your meats and cheeses for you! Braised short ribs were perfectly done, nearly falling apart at the touch of the fork. We had a bottle of French Malbec - nothing special but they have a good wine list with plenty to choose from. My wife had the grouper but was unimpressed with the actual fish (it's grouper though...). However she loved the brussel sprouts and sweet potato puree that accompanied it. The gelato's are fantastic for dessert but on this menu, you can not go wrong with anything. Highly recommend for visiting guests, family or just a nice dinner out."
