  • "My husband and I went for dinner a few nights ago. The restaurant had recently changed the menu and we really wanted to try it. I had the head on shrimp with chorizo to start and my husband had a tomato salad. Both were excellent with very a flavorful sauce and dressing. We asked for more bread to dip. The lamb ribs with cherry sauce for dinner was just as good. My husband had gnocchi which he loved. Overall we love the new menu and highly recommend trying Satis Bistro."

  • "A group of 6 had dinner alfresco this past Saturday night. First time there and went from reviews in NYT and friends. It was such a lovely night so they accommodated us outside and we started with some of their signature drinks followed by starters, a selection from the salumeri and we all shared some very delicious entrees including my fav the short ribs. Ended with seriously yummy desserts and espresso. Service was friendly and efficient and all came in at a very reasonable tab. Highly recommend."

  • "everything we had was excellent - the meat and cheese platter is a really good start, the entrees were all excellent, and the tartufo dessert is a must."

  • "Just moved to Jersey City from Manhattan and thrilled to have discovered Satis! The food is absolutely delicious--everything you'd expect from the best NYC restaurants plus the charm of the Paulus Hook neighborhood. Servers were friendly and attentive. I ordered the halibut and my husband ordered the ribeye. Both entrees were cooked to perfection. Can't wait to go back to try the rest of the entrees and check out the brunch menu too!"

  • "I've been here several times before and found the service to be a little slow, but last time the staff must have been bored (kind of slow night) as the service was very sporadic. Took a while to get service and then once we had it, they wouldn't leave our table alone, kept trying to take our plates away. We were taking our times eating & talking, but there was no one waiting to be seated so don't know why they were rushing us out of there. We have all worked in food service at one time or another so are pretty sympathetic to the staff, but after awhile we just wanted to yell at everyone to leave us alone!"

  • "Every element of the meal was wonderful. The ambience is perfect for a date night or a girl's night out. I had the split pea soup, which very flavorful and fresh. The carbonara was really tastey. The pistastios on top of the pasta gave each bit a nice textual contrast. For desert, I had two scoops of creamy gelato (coconut and hazelnut). I don't normally have desert but I was so glad I did - the gelato rounded out the meal so well. The only complaint I have was that one of the servers had a bad attitude. The servers seem to divide their duties so at least I didn't need to deal with him all nice."

  • "Fantastic eggs benedict, brisket hash, and eggs cocotte. One of my favorite spots for brunch in Jersey City. Although the food took a while to arrive, they prepare everything to order, and the waiters are funny and sweet. I haven't tried their wine bar yet, but I've heard only great things!"

  • "Satis is a great spot in a quaint neighborhood. We love to sit outdoors on a warm evening. The wait staff are all friendly and competent. The food is consistently good with seasonal ingredients and European influences. You could also have a cheese and salumi plate and bottle of wine. Desserts are a bit decadent but goood. Check out the cozy wine bar attached for cocktails or happy hour."

  • "great vibe and menu for Sunday brunch; plenty of choices on breakfast or lunch options, all with unique twist and awesome preparation and fresh ingredients cool vibe without the NY hassle of getting into city and parking etc. we ate inside but there is a cool first-come first serve outdoor dining option"

  • "I have been to Satis a hand full of times. The food is inexpensive and the dishes are great. The staff are very knowledgeable of the menu, which is a plus. I gave the service 3 stars based on the rudeness of a server towards my mother. He was not our server but that is no excuse to be rude. Our main server was great."

  • "I've been wanting to go for quite some time based on friends' recommendations. I finally had an evening with no plans and was able to make a reservation that afternoon, though by the time we arrived and while we sat there, they had to turn people away. Absolutely love the ambiance, the food was super delicious, and even the gelato was the best I ever had. (Even better than in Tuscany!) My wife had a berkshire pork chop with an incredible salsa verde (like chimmichurri) that was to die for and my tortilla espanola was absolutely delicious with the asparagus salad. Yum! I tend not to go to Jersey City because of the traffic and parking can be a pain, but I was lucky. No traffic & parking across the street. Couldn't get better than that."

  • "Friends recommended Satis and it lived up to its billing. Great food, from appetizers through mains. I had the pork chop, my wife had the lamb, both delicious and generous portions. We sat upstairs, next to a large family gathering celebrating a graduation. Still the noise level was moderate. The downstairs room seems like it would be more "dramatic," but don't know if it would be noisier. Be prepared to circle the block and still not find a parking spot - we went to a garage in a nearby high rise. And note to self - find a better route than the Holland Tunnel approach to get into Jersey City."

  • "Satis has great food, atmosphere, and service. The best part is that waiters anticipate, bringing what you need without having to ask. Three of us shared cheese and salumeria w olives, glistening and beautifully served. Our entrees were braised beef rib (no knife needed), and an order of roasted chicken that two of us split. Clean, clear flavor came through in every bite. I'll be back before long--so will my guests."

  • "We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary at Satis Bistro. We could not dine outside on their patio because of the severe weather, but we did get a nice corner table inside. I had the pork chop and my husband had the lamb. Both were very good. The wait staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely eat there again."

  • "My first time there but an interesting menu that grabs your attention. The ramp, pine nut and wild mushroom crostini was perfect and flavors really balanced well. Mangalitsa Prosciutto was another great small plate that was served with cornichons and an apricot/mustard that complemented the meat perfectly. Dinners were very good but I thought the Mangalitsa pork shank could have had a bit more flavor (plus it has a sauce) and a bit less cabbage (but still a good piece of meat). The halibut was near perfection. Pan seared with peas, fava's and pea tendrils. I liked my GF's dish better than mine but overall a gem for the neighborhood and with nice outdoor dining. Will be returning there before summer is through."

  • "My wife and I wanted to try a new spot for brunch. The waiter took our order and the food arrived. The food was good, we both had the chicken club with two bellini's. I finished my food first and was looking forward to having another drink.. Waiting, waiting, waiting...nothing, the waiter never came back to see how we're doing...nothing. Meanwhile the people behind us who spoke the same language as a few of the waiters had multiple visits by many different waiters. Apparently they preferred helping people who spoke their language. Finally the bus boy got our waiters attention. You'd think that they'd be on top of keeping drinks full at the very least. Terrible, I won't go back or I may go back if I learn their language."

  • "I found this place randomly a few years back, and it's been the best find ever! Their food is consistently delicious, fresh, and portions are perfect. The ambiance is trendy yet cozy & intimate. Servers are always polite and attentive. Coming here is always a big treat for me! I recommend to everyone!"

  • "I first visited this restaurant as a lunch spot for business lunches. It's been a while since I've been back (changed jobs). The food, service and ambience were exceptional. So good in fact, that we planned our Mother's Day brunch there. It was a hit! Walked two blocks down after brunch to walk off dessert and watched the ferry boats come in and the spectacular view of the Freedom tower. We'll be back very soon!!"

  • "Satis is awesome! We were a party of five and able to sit outside in the beautiful terrace area. We shared appetizers of bacon wrapped figs and mushroom crostini which were wonderful. Our main dishes were to die - perfectly grilled lamb, amazing short ribs, - for along with outstanding desserts."

  • "We have always had memorable meals at Satis Bistro. It is the kind of restaurant where you can go with people of varied food tastes and everyone can get something delicious to eat. My son treated us to brunch on Mother's Day. Unlike a lot of restaurants that serve limited menus for holiday meals, at Satis you get the full menu. Even though they were very busy, the staff, service and food was perfect. I had my first burger in years, and it was worth waiting for. They also have a selection of fun drinks, the spicy Limonada was terrific. Definitely going back again soon."

  • "We happened to be in Jersey City area during my wife's birthday. I have selected Satis Bistro solely based on pictures and reviews. The venue not only met my expectations but also we had a great night. Everybody on the staff was so friendly. I had a bouquet of flowers delivered to the premises before our arrival, Maître D was so genuinely warm that she made sure, our table was ready in advance with the flowers placed in the middle of table neatly. The food was great too. My wife enjoyed the gnocchi whereas I fell in love with the pork shank. It was such an original recipe that I had to ask the waiter for more info. I was told that it was a special Hungarian recipe. We will definitely go back to Satis when we are in the area again..."

  • "Pretty, quaint restaurant. Food was pretty good though the short ribs with goat cheese mashed potatoes were disappointing. Meat was good--not too fatty--but the reduction was harsh, almost burned tasting. Huge number of whole black peppercorns overwhelmed the flavor. Mashed potatoes were grainy and tasted nothing of goat cheese. But what was most disappointing was the service. Very much ignored--felt like our table wasn't assigned to anyone so any time we needed something I had to flag someone down ( no one checked on us and no one even made eye contact). Took forever to get someone to take our order for more drinks (sat with empty wine glasses for a very long time) and then they were late and served after we were halfway thru our entrees"

  • "Made a reservation for four on a Saturday night after hearing about this restaurant from several friends. We were blown away. I'll start with the drinks. My fiancee and I had a few negronis, while our friends had the frias and spicy limonada. Each of the drinks were well balanced and delicious. Onto the food. Our starters included the beet salad, angry potatoes, and the octopus. While the angry potatoes stole the show, the octopus and sausage dish was probably the best grilled octopus I've ever had. The dinners, consisting of duck, chicken, pork shoulder, and short rib, were outstanding. I also want to thank the friendly and great staff for their hospitality. I wish I could write more to rave about this place. In short, I'll be back. "

  • "My husband and i dined here with a friend on Saturday and had a great time in this lovely, split-level space in an old section of Jersey City. Most of the wine list can be tried by the glass, half-bottle and full bottle, with varied and well-priced selections. Service is quick without being rushed. We tried many items and shared them all - stuffed dates (sweet with a good tang of blue cheese), patatas bravas (crispy, spicy and excellent), octopus (perfectly braised and the same texture as the sausage it is served with), cheese & charcuterie (cheese was especially good, especially with the apricot condiment). Short Ribs and Veal Ravioli were tasty, although the sauces were a bit over-reduced. Excellent coffee! we will be back."

  • "We went on an Amazon deal, providing the prix fixe +2 glasses of wine. Hats off to the kitchen, their food is always very good. The service was fair at best. Our server would disappear for 5 to 10 minutes at a time. We had 30 minutes between clearing appetizer plates and serving entree. We asked to apply the $10 value of our glasses of wine toward a bottle or a better wine and were told no. We had to ask for water glasses to be filled. It is a shame this place cannot hire better servers--this isn't the first time we have this issue. I guess we should expect lousy service and good food, then Satis can meet expectations. "

  • "We made the reservation and the place was nice - cozy - but welcoming on a chilly night. We were seated and drinks came quickly. The tapas plates were awesome - the octopus, dates and spicy potatoes were easily the best things we had tonight. Unfortunately, that's where the train goes off the rails folks. My partner and I had the short ribs - who overcooks simple braised short ribs these days? These people do! The beef had minimal moisture and was very stringy - also all beef flavor had disappeared. The sauce was incredibly over reduced, and had whole peppercorns in it which my partner got 2. The chorizo mash potatoes were awesome. Desserts needed help too - everything seemed overcooked - careful with chocolate items."

  • "After hearing reviews from friends and colleagues, decided to venture here for dinner. Reserved for my mom's birthday dinner and it was great! The cocktail and wine list were extensive and delicious. The menu was not large but had a good amount of choices to select. The best way to describe all the dishes: Classic, American dishes that are made extremely well and delicious. We ordered the Veal Ravioli, NY Strip Steak with Frites, the special that night - Market Trout and Pork Shoulder with Littleneck Clams. We all left there satisfied and will be sure to dine there again! A neighborhood gem in Jersey City area :)"
