A word from Sarma
Sarma is the newest venture from the team behind Oleana & Sofra. Chef Ana Sortun joins Sarma Chef/Owners Cassie Piuma, and Matt Piuma in this latest collaboration.

Sarma is a fun and funky neighborhood restaurant in the style of a Turkish Meyhane ("wine-house"). It serves casual and carefully constructed small plates (Meze), alongside a bustling craft-cocktail program. The wine list is small, and impactful, featuring only natural wines intended to compliment Chef Cassie's flavorful cuisine. Music, communal dining options, and colors abound at this new neighborhood gem!

Sarma is a true gem in the rocks. I only like to eat out at place that I think are really worth it, and Sarma is just that. The most incredible, unique creative and deliciously spiced food, a fun unique atmosphere, unbelievable drinks and more. It is a bit of a hike to get to, but well worth it!

The food was stunning. So many flavors available at once, combinations you'd never expect, but everything work so well together. The service was excellent, friendly and informative about the menu. The restaurant had a great feel, crowded on a Thursday but not overwhelming. Beautiful colors.

This was our second visit to Sarma and, if possible, the food was even better than the first time. The flavor combinations are amazing with lots of unexpected tastes. Our waiter was spot on with suggestions for wine, number of dishes to order and combinations. It is a busy, lively place, especially fun for a larger group. If they are available, don't miss the deviled eggs and fried chicken, neither are what you might expect, both are wonderful. The watermelon salad with feta had an almost slush like consistency, good enough for dessert!

Rarely have we dined at a restaurant as delicious and exotic as Sarma. Flavor combinations and spice pairings are well-executed and thought-provoking. Not only are the dishes perfectly prepared but the sequencing of the small plates you choose has been timed so that flavors have an optimal flow. The very spiciest stuff comes at the end, the more aromatic choices come earlier in the meal. The pacing is perfect. If you follow the advice of the server and order 3 small plates each, the cost go higher if you accept items periodically passed around. But the best things we tried was a passed dish--although all the dishes we ordered were wonderful as well. On another visit, we might order just two small plates each and accept the passed foods

Although the food was not what I expected - tasting sized servings to be shared - it was delicious. The service on the other hand was terrible. The server acted as though she were doing us a favor by 'taking care of us'. The noise level was louder than I prefer. Very difficult to find parking.

I will preface this with, we LOVE Oleana and Sofra so this attempt was a no brainier. Wow. How wrong we were. Firstly, what is the point in reserving a table 1.5 months out because they are "completely booked" if they had 2-3 empty tables the entire time we were there!?? What a waste of time that was. Also, what is the point of going to a restraunt with the unique experience of servers walking around with chefs specials a-la-cart if there were only two offerings the whole we were there!? We only ordered a few tapas, per our unattentive server's suggestion. Then we waited and waited and no specials. Finally we ordered a few more tapas. The first few were admittedly delicious. The last two were foul and unbelievably salty in the worst way.

Sarma is very creative - middle eastern tapas basically. You order two or three small plates apiece and share the wonderful creative food. they also come around with special plates that you can choose, like deviled eggs, salmon, fried chicken nuggets. There are vegetarian entrees and meet and fish as well. There is a glossary to translate the exotic words in the menu. Everything is great. This was my second time at the restaurant and I am equally impressed.

I continue to find the food at Sarma to be excellent. As a vegetarian not all the options are available, but there is a much wider choice than most restaurants. I especially liked the Kunefe with beet and the snap pea dish was the best, a real standout and , as many dishes at Sarma are, a complete surprise. Others at the table had the beef tartare and clams which they liked very much. We got there at 17:40 for a 17:30 reservation and by 18:30 the place was full. Noise can be an issue here, when the dinning area and the bar are both full (19:00 - 21:00 most any night). I also love the bar scene here later at night, not raucous or anything just great drinks and pleasant atmosphere.

The dishes were high quality, but since they are small plates, we picked things we thought would go well together, but they just come out one at a time in a very random order. The decor is also very random and not very attractive, and you are very aware of all the conversations around you.

Two of us ordered 5 dishes and a dessert and everything was delicious. The cocktails were creative and delicious- we both highly recommend the 'Sastisse' which had tequila and salted yogurt in addition to mint and orange. We ordered the 7 layers hummus plate which had a number of interesting 'layers'. The special that was deviled eggs but had kalamata olives, pine-nuts and dill in the filling was delicious. The salad with greens, fennel, nectarines, walnuts and yogurt-taragon dressing was amazing. This place has great vegetarian options, with more that we didn't get to try.

Wonderful, interesting combinations, great flavors. Service was great. Restaurant was popular, evident by the large crowds. Many people eating at bar and standing area near bar, I suspect many we're walk-ins. We had a reservation. Never felt rushed. Ordered from menu and also from trays that they walk around with, which is what ever the chef feels like making that night. Menu was plenty large, making it hard to decide, everything was mouthwatering. Restaurant style was small plates, making it fun to try many things. Can't wait to go back, already booked a future reservation.

What a joy. My wife and I enjoyed our first visit to this fabulous place... and we'll certainly return soon. Everything we had was fantastic. Rainbow Carrots*, Fried Green Tomatoes, Seven Layer Hummus, Deviled Eggs, Feta Cheese Gnocchi*, Moorish Pork Ribs*, Sugarsnaps* and Corn Cakes*. (Starred dishes stood out the most) Simply decorated dining room, tables for 2 are smallish, great large square bar, service was friendly and efficient. Wines by the glass a bit pricey... and check adds up as you can't resist the amazing food... but all in all worth it as it's so well done. Should be a stop on any serious diner's list. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I really enjoyed the food- creative, fun and delicious. I'm a vegetarian, but had plenty of fantastic choices. I wish the service had been faster. Honestly we probably would have ordered more if there was less of a wait between the courses! Also helpful to know if anything being passed around would be vegetarian or not. But wonderful overall.

We enjoyed the "just-right"-sized small plate offerings. Server recommended "3 plates per person" but we found that 3 dishes between 2 people was satiating. Vast vegetarian selections. Attentive, energetic service. Did not care for the "dim sum" style of servers bringing various dishes around - felt a little intrusive and somehow the dishes didn't seem appetizing (?fresh) so would do away with this. Casual atmosphere, nice lighting - what a transition from "The Paddock" which my neighborhood haunt in the 1980s! It was a nostalgic trip down memory lane and overall very enjoyable. Recommend the crab kibbeh dish and hummus!

Sarma is an absolute gem. I love how they have chef specials come around to each table and ask if they would like to try it. I got wings, and fried chicken during these encounters. Both were great and made my food decisions easier. I like to see what I'm eating, and this was great. Also recommend the patasas bravas, gnocchi (unbelievable), salmon. All outstanding. Our waiter was just average, but this place was fantastic. We will be back

We chose 9 small plates for four people. Afterward, we each had trouble deciding on a favorite - they were all so special. Fried chicken, Lamb kofta sliders, and octopus/avocado seemed to stand out. I would have to echo other reviewers' comments about the difficulty finding parking. Definitely better to cab/uber it if you can afford to! The money you save on the bill will help: for four of us, with a bottle of wine, it was only about $150. Pretty amazing for greater Boston and for food of this quality and inventiveness.

This place has a cool ambience, and I liked the idea of special dishes being brought around to the tables for you to select. I thought everything we ordered was fine (seven small plates and one of the special plates). but really nothing seemed that memorable. The menu was extensive, but dominated by a lot of fried food, so it ended up feeling like quite a heavy, unhealthy meal. Overall, I left feeling like I would rather try other places than return to Sarma.

My husband and I recently celebrated our first wedding anniversary at Sarma. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. Our server was helpful in describing the dishes and gave us some tips on navigating the menu. The menu is made up of small dishes, so some advice on how much to order was welcomed. The servers were very attentive, always there when we needed anything. The food was exceptional. Some standouts were the sugar snap peas with pistachio tahini and fried quinoa, hot peppers stuffed with halumi cheese, grilled octopus, corn cakes with salted date butter, I could go on and on. We will absolutely be going back to Sarma again and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who enjoys amazing food and great service.

I have been to the restaurant 3 times and each time I find the offerings appealing, with new dishes to try each time, and all the dishes outstandingly delicious. Sometimes it's hard to choose from some many different dishes. Cocktails are unusual and delicious, too. And the pitas...served warm in a paper wrapping---yummy. They don't last long and they keep them coming, but be careful because it's easy to fill up on these and then you'll deny yourself the opportunity to get through all the courses on your list.

Outstanding work coming out of the kitchen at Sarma. We had several items including the multi-layered Hummus plate, the sugarsnaps, some stuffed peppers (a special), the pork-belly bunuelo, lamb-sliders and more. Each presented flavors of distinct vision and precise execution. This is not generic food. Each dish - well in some cases actually each bite - has a point of view. These folks are turning it out and you ought not to expect to relate to your food casually. We will return at our earliest opportunity.

A rare thing to find lately: A restaurant with good food and low-level music to make conversation among four people easy. Nice service, as well. Interesting take on tapas-style eating.
