Diner Reviews
  • "It was perfect, I never expected it to be so amazing. The staff were so kind. The view was to die for. It was quiet. I have never left a restaurant feeling like I just went on vacation. It was surreal. I only wish I had gone sooner ;-) meaning I only recently found out about this place. The food was elegant and fast it was like eating art. I had such a great time and I know you will to."

  • "Sarento's Top of the "I" has a great view with great food. The parking is confusing since part of the hotel is separate from the "I"."

  • "There are few restaurants where the quality of the food, service and preparations of the staff, and the ambiance and views from the windows, but this restaurant has it all. Tourists and locals alike will enjoy their food and experience here. I come to Oahu once a year and make this restaurant my first stop for dinner."

  • "....although the view is incredible if you are lucky enough to get one of those tables and not the ones facing other buildings. The service was rather slow and we actually received our apps. prior to our drinks arriving....this is unacceptable service! This restaurant is a skip in my opinion."

  • "My husband and I came here to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. Every aspect of the dining experience exceeded our expectations! Food was exquisite and delectable. I had the grilled ahi, my husband had the filet mignon with a lobster tail, and we also ordered a bottle of an Austrian Berger Chardonnay. Service from ever single staff member was impeccable! If you are going for the fireworks show done by the Hilton on Friday night, request seating on that end of the restaurant. Otherwise, you'll miss it. I recommend to valet your vehicle at the Ilikai Hotel, where the restaurant is, because it's just about the same price as self-parking and is much more convenient."

  • "Let me start by saying, this is an absolutely beautiful spot for dinner. Ask for the Garden Room, I think it has the best views in the restaurant. As a self proclaimed foodie and an Italian, the food rocked it. Filet mignon meatballs and island-flaired pasta dish with macadamia nut pesto, arugula, lobster and shrimp. Desert did not disappoint. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "5 star! First impression as we walked out of the elevator there was spectacular evening views and the romantic ambience. From the hostess to all of our waiters, the staff was professional and obviously well trained. They were attentive and not too over the top where it's annoying as in some other 5 stars. Delicious Food. We enjoyed the chef's special and it was fabulous. I mentioned it was my husbands birthday online with Open Table only to request a table with a view. Sarento's Top of the I added a special touch with a birthday Tiramisu cake, beautifully presented and each of our waiters stopped by to wish him a happy birthday. Very elegant and so worth becoming return guests. (Monday dinner 6/9/2014)"

  • "WOW! You can't beat this sweeping view of Waikiki and the mighty Pacific Ocean from the top of the iconic Ilikai Hotel. And, the city lights after dark are just as stunning. Great menu and service, too!"

  • "I've worked for the hotel many years, but have never dined here. Finally tried it on my girlfriend's birthday. It was a great experience - the view was spectacular, the ambiance was romantic, the food was good to look at, delicious, and filling. They even gave us a sampler platter of their appetizers and a birthday dessert. We will definitely come back again."

  • "Sarento's never disappoints! Having brought colleagues here for dinner in Waikiki a couple months ago, the food and service was so good I decided to bring my wife back for our Anniversary dinner. Simply AWESOME. The menu is mouthwatering and the specials never disappoint. Best Caparese salad I ever had. Top that off with a great view of Waikiki...not a bad seat in the entire restaurant. Thx for making this a special evening for my wife and I."

  • "Overall it was a wonderful experience. We brought friends visiting from the mainland. I felt that we were being rushed to order our dinners before our first cocktails even arrived and we had a chance to read the ample menu. We had two cocktails and then ordered our dinner. The restaurant wasn't busy so I do not think we should have been pressured to order. The food was delicious and beautifully plated. I thought we would have a sunset view, since our reservation was at 6:30, but we were facing east and told there were no sunset view tables."

  • "the overall feeling is a little 'rat pack' like for this Honolulu / Waikiki restaurant; very classy white table cloth environment, elegant style (feels a bit dated in carpet/decor, elevators, etc.)) and live music (combo). Ambiance is very elegant….food is okay - foodies would want for more. wine list is superb offering numerous top tier options and selection, global, prime choices USA-CA, IT, FR, etc."

  • "A great location right next to the Hilton Hawaiian Village. It is a rooftop restaurant with a fantastic view of Waikiki. Service was attentive without being overly so and the waiters were very knowledgeable about the menu. The wine list has a huge selection, but not so many at the lower price points with prices starting at $40. Although not a large menu, there is something for everyone including vegetarian, beef, chicken, lamb, and of course seafood. The items we ordered included escargot, caprese, Penne Calabrese, Eggplant Parmesan Cannelloni , and Chicken Rigatoni Alla Vodka. Desserts ordered were panna cotta and mocha creme brulee. Everything was properly prepared and we enjoyed everything. We would go again when in the area. "

  • "I chose this restaurant for my boyfriends birthday because of the scenic view. When we first got out of the elevator, and we saw a great view of the ocean, and the city. Once we were seated, we had a great view of Diamond Head. I personally don't like lavosh, so when I tried it, it was really good! The lavosh and the curry hummus paired very well. For the small plate, we ordered the sausage, which was alright. For the entrees, we got the Osso Bucco and the lamb. Both entrees were delicious!! The lamb was really soft, and the Osso Bucco fell off the bone. I didn't even need a knife. For the dessert, we decided on the Mocha Crème Brulee. It was really outstanding, especially with the caramel on the bottom. Overall, I LOVED the experience!"

  • "Everything we ordered (four of us) was delicious and had a wonderful presentation. The waitstaff were gracious, accommodating, pleasant and friendly. In the back ground, some nice piano jazz loud enough to enjoy, soft enough to allow us to still converse without straining. Osso bucco was best ever had. Lamb was outstanding. Everything was really delicious. And the view - one of the best on the south shore."

  • "We arrived early, so that we could watch the sunset. The Garden Room has fantastice views of Waikiki and the western side of the island. Highly recommend it if you a looking for a good panorama. The service was very good and friendly. The steak was a little over done. All around nice evening."

  • "Located on the top floor of the Ilikai Hotel, Sarento's command a panoramic view of Waikiki, Diamond Head, and the Pacific Ocean. We were greeted graciously upon arrival, and were seated at a table with the view mentioned earlier. Our team of 3 servers, yes 3 servers, worked like a well-oiled machine. They explained and suggested selections of their menu, very attentive to the progress of the evening. My wife and our son both ordered their house special - Osso Buco shank on saffron risotto; while I ordered the special of the day - Lobster tail with giant prawns, and our son's girlfriend had the filet mignon meatballs on spaghettini. All the dishes were delicious and we finished the evening with various delectable desserts. 5 stars!"

  • "The first waiter we had was very serious & uptight who barely came to our table. The bus boy was the same way but eventually came around to being a joy. What made me decide to give Sarentos a 5-Star rating is solely due to our last waiter Justin. He was such an attentive friendly person always w/a smile. He blew us away with his terrific skills making our flaming strawberry dessert. Justin and his entertaining skills made the end to our dinner unforgettable. We ordered the Filet Mignon and Pork Chops which were both very delicious. The pork chop was such a generous size. The cocktails and wine are a bit pricey but tasted delicious."

  • "I never heard of Sorento's until a friend told me about it, but when I finally had a chance to visit it was far better than I imagined. The staff was amazing, the ambience was fantastic, and the food divine. There are no words for the view from the restaurant; everything from the beach view, to the sunset, to the Honolulu night skyline was amazing. I would DEFINITLY recommend this place to all my friends! A hidden gem in a beautiful location!"

  • "My wife and I spent our last night on Oahu celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary at Sarento's. This is a traditional, some would say old-fashioned venue at the top of Ilikai Hotel - much like the "Top of the Sixes" and other Stouffer's restaurants on the mainland in the 70s and 80s. For us, it was absolutely fantastic. Live piano music for a period and otherwise great new age jazz piped through the sound system. We loved the food. My wife had the vegetarian cannelloni dish. I had the filet (medium rare) which was perfect in every way.We were surprised with a "Happy Anniversary" tiramisu with candle. For whatever reason, tiramisu at Sarento's is much better than that found in the lower 48. This place was great."

  • "This was our ladies dining group's 3rd time at Sarento's although I have been there at least 8 times. When I have out of town visitors I like to impress, I take them to Sarento's because the view is absolutely gorgeous & the food is flavorful. Service can be spotty but on our last visit, our waiters Justin & James were polite and attentive. Another person whom I shall not mention because it may just have been an off night for him, was rather "floaty". All in all though, we left the restaurant very happy. If the glass elevator had been in operation, it would have been perfect because the elevator from the penthouse level was behaving oddly & not stopping on the right floor. "

  • "We chose this place in particular for it's view of the Friday night fireworks display in Honolulu. If you book early enough, they can accommodate you with a good table. The service was wonderful. The waiters were very attentive. The food was not the best in Oahu, but was still very good. Great for large groups such as ours or couples on a romantic night out."

  • "I was very impressed that the special requests I had made in my Internet reservation were read and complied with in every way. Instant seating at the table (booth) I had requested; spectacular view; very attentive and personable waiters...and even a little birthday surprise. Very nice! And, by the way, the food and the wine was excellent. One of my favorite destinations for years; I will definitely continue."

  • "The view was spectacular, the food was excellent, and the service first rate. The piano player was so incredibly loud it was hard to carry on a conversation and completely destroyed the romantic mood."

  • "This used to be one of our favorite special occasion restaurants. We had not been in a while and were excited to go back. Sorry to say we were sadly disappointed with the quality of the food. A change in chef? The pasta I ordered was dry, way too much tomato paste (made the dish very sweet) and could have been put together by someone with no cooking experience. My husbands mashed potatoes were so watery he could have used a straw. The waiter took the criticism well and did comp us a dessert, however it will be a long time, if ever, before we go back. Too many other choices. Very disappointing."

  • "My 2 companions enjoyed their meals. I got the scampi. The noodles were undercooked & were crunchy. The shrimp was over cooked & very chewy. The desserts were excellent. "

  • "Loved the ambience here-every table has a spectacular view of the city, mountains and the ocean. Lots of 2-4 person horseshoe shaped booths that face the window. Service was well timed, friendly but not intrusive. Highly recommend the oyster appetizers and both salads were excellent. My husband and I are split on the entrees however. He had the stuffed pork chop which was on the cold side and dry. I had the opha which was hot and very flavorful. Dessert choices were varied and servings were ample without being over the top. We would definitely come again to try more dishes!"

  • "We came for an early dinner, hoping to watch the sunset from the restaurant's vantage point on top of a tall hotel. The restaurant was virtually empty, but the hostess proceeded to take us to the opposite side from where we wanted to be... After that the waiters were very attentive, but the negative impression had already been created. Of the dishes we ordered one was decidedly sub-par - the Chef's version of paella. The other dishes were fine, but unremarkable. Overall, we are not planning to come back"
