  • "Given it was a Lettuce Entertain You establishment, my expectations were high coming in. I was disappointed in the appetizers, as the grilled calamari was small, both in portion and size of meat. Mussels were OK. The salads were good, but my wife got the Caprese salad and it was very small. Unimpressed to this point, I went with a safe bet in Chicken Parm...a mistake. It was flat, tough and didn't come with pasta. The service was OK, and the wine selection was robust and tasty."

  • "The food was amazing as was the service - have never had a disappointing visit! We had a curtained window alcove which was a special / wonderful setting for our group. We had special orders and requests which our server handled most graciously and with superb knowledge. Great experience!"

  • "Food was very good. Restaurant wasn't staffed sufficiently at Lunch the day of. Appears there was big meeting at the hotel next door the day of and thr restaurant wasn't aware. Staff was overwelmed and not suffiicient for the crowd.. The staff they had did a great job as best as they could, but appears to have been poor planning. This is uncharacterisitc and I would assume it was a one time issue. Food was very good"

  • "The minestrone soup had a wonderful flavor with basil dribbled on top. The meat lasagna was very tasty . The chicken Parmesan was an enormous portion with the tomato sauce served on the side. I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The prefix pre theater menu was a very good value with list of wonderful choices on it."

  • "I have been here before and enjoyed the food but the quality seems to have gone down since. They need to get back to their emphasis on well cooked, hearty Italian fare and not be content with having a regular flow of diners from the Westin."

  • "I took my fiancé, Amy, to Saranello's for her birthday, because they had spinach gnocchi on the menu, which is one of her favorite things. She really enjoyed her meal, and our server was very accommodating. Amy loves the gnocchi with a pink sauce, and no meat, and they were able to make the plate exactly how she liked it. I had the scallops, and they were delicious also! Our server also gave us some recommendations for wines to pair with our dinner, and I was not disappointed with our selection. They were also kind enough to bring her a small chocolate cake dessert for her birthday, and we both really enjoyed it! I highly recommend Saranello's for someone who wants a good Italian meal, but can't afford a flight to Italy!"

  • "Six of us went there for the "Sunday Dinner" We were seated at a round table in the back corner and every person that passed our table bumped into us. We were served bread in a basket that had garbage in it - a dirty napkin and crumbled receipt. We order one of the entrees on the menu and after a 1/2 hour were told that it wasn't available and had to change our order. Even though there were 6 of us and the items were served family style, some of the entrée were served in portions of 2 and 3 and we were told we would have to wait. Drinks and water were not refilled, it was not a good experience."

  • "We were seated in the area where people were waiting for tables. It was very noisy and busy and we were talkedover our table by matre de and staff. Our waitress was not attentive. 3 out of 4 of us enjoyed our food."

  • "Waiter didn't know the specials and was watching (and commenting on) the NCAA basketball game all night. Entree was brought out before we'd finished our appetizers, so we had to awkwardly stack plates that still had food on them. Someone in my party made a point of telling the waiter it was my birthday, but it went unacknowledged."

  • "This visit the food was good but the service was awful! It wasn't very busy, but our waiter was not to be found almost the entire time except when he put the check down, then within five minutes he was back ready to take it. All four of us thought the food was good but because the last several times the service was so bad I'm done giving Sarenellos any more chances. This restaurant is an embarrassment to the Lettuce Entertainment group"

  • "Our waiter was good at explaining. The busboys kept the water glasses full. We were there for a birthday and the restaurant gave the birthday celebrant two small mousses for dessert-along with the dessert we ordered-and offered us all a free coffee liquor after-dinner drink. Those were the highlights. There were four of us and not one of us thought our food was particularly good. Each dish was underwhelming, flat flavored. We will not be going back."

  • "Food was very good, The waiter forgot about us a few times. The wine was not the right temperature. Paid over $80 each for wine, and both were warm!"

  • "Our group of nine were very pleased with Saranello's. Our waiter was most accommodating and the food was excellent. My only (personal) complaint is that our table was located behind the reservations desk and the phone on that desk rang rather loudly. No one in our group mentioned it, but it did bother me. I would definitely recommend Saranello's and hope to return soon."

  • "We had a terrific waiter that catered to 7 year old birthday girl (It was her mom's birthday, too) He made the evening terrific and didn't rush us through."

  • "We really enjoy Saranello's and have eaten there several times. On this night however I ordered one of the specials which was the fish, coleslaw and fries. This meal should have been called "A mound of French fires in a cast iron skillet" because the four small pieces of fish got lost in the pile of French fires that accompanied the meal....but really became the main entrée. My wife ordered the Berkshire pork chop which she stated was delicious. From a pricing and taste standpoint and for the additional five dollars I should have skipped this special and gotten the pork chop. I really was disappointed in my meal and the cost of same. On a positive note, our wait staff was absolutely great: professional, friendly & attentive"

  • "We had a very good dinner ordered seafood, pasta and even a pizza and everyone was happy. The Caesar salad is very large can be split 3 or 4 people. It was our daughters B'Day and they brought out a surprise cookies, cake, etc. very nice. Overall we would return."

  • "Food was very good. They squeeze as many tables in as possible giving you a very crowded feeling."

  • "It took 20 minutes to have a waiter come to our table, 15 minutes to get drinks. Then, we had just received our salads when the entrees came out. The beet salad was tasteless and we felt rushed in eating since our entrees came out so fast. I was never asked if I wanted a refill on my drink for the 3 hours I was there. My husband asked for some more marinara sauce to go with his calamari and he had to ask TWICE to get it and when he finally did get it, in the same moment that they handed him the sauce, they took away the calamari. What!? The other couple we were with had a gluten free pasta that was tasteless and my gnocchi was a "C" at best. We were so disappointed mainly at the service and the low quality of food. Not coming back."

  • "Another great Lettuce Entertain You Restaurant. Pastas are homemade and sauces are great. If you prefer a different sauce than the one your dish comes with, you can order the one you like better. Bar pizza is always a must when we dine at Saranello's. The soup special was potato-leek that night, and it was delicious! We shared stuffed rigatoni and fettucini with spicy sausage and pistachio gelato for dessert. We also took home the banana tiramisu and chocolate mascarpone pie for the next day! Service was great, and two managers and at least 4 servers asked us if we needed anything and how we were doing throughout the meal. If you like Italian food...Saranello's is the place to go!"

  • "There are far better Lettuce Entertain You restaurants than this one. The place is very noisey. You have to yell at the person accross the table from you and the tables are placed so close to each other I could have eaten from the next table. The servers could not even get through to serve or take orders. I ordered th Russian river trout and it was so thin there was hardly anything to eat but the skin."

  • "Seated quickly & waiter arrived quickly too. Waiter was outstanding throughout the evening The bread was fresh and warm. Bravo! We chose the cheese ravioli in vodka sauce & pistachio-crusted whitefish w/ brussel sprout slaw. Delicious! Dessert was the white chocolate crème. So good! Overall, it was a very enjoyable evening for two with great food and great service. We enjoy the ambiance and vibe of Saranellos too. We continue to come back for more of a good thing"

  • "I was there with my mom and we had a $25 coupon. Our waiter suggested a glass of his favorite wine. Since we were there before a theatre play we thought ok let's have a glass with dinner. Everything was fine until I got the bill. I paid it and said nothing but I should have. He charged us $14 per glass. I thought that was a bit excessive for a glass of red wine that had been previously opened and was being served as a house wine."

  • "Sunday evening was my first experience at Saranello's. Requested a drink featured on the website; the bartender informed that they no longer have that drink available. I tried another, similar drink but the mix was not great. We had a 6:15 reservation but did not get seated until 6:30 or so. Our waiter was good and very accommodating. We were with friends who had dined at Saranello's before. They told us their last experience included being informed that multiple menu items they tried to order were not available. That also happened to my husband who tried to order scallops this night. The braised ribs I ordered were excellent. The restrooms are far from the dining room. Not easily accessible (need to go upstairs/elevator) We'll try brunch."

  • "We have eaten here many times, including booking a side room in October 2013 for a birthday party. Ate here for my birthday, party of seven, on a Sunday night in March 2014. Restaurant was busy, staff pleasant but clearly overwhelmed. Food was biggest disappointment - bland, too salty, "family style bowl" of ravioli came with only five - we were constantly trying to flag wait staff. My sense is Saranellos knows they have a big following - and maybe letting things slip? We won't be back. :("

  • "My husband and I went to Saranello's on a date following my mother-in-law's recommendation. It was an instant hit! This is probably the best restaurant I've been to in a while - I was so impressed with the quality and inventiveness of food and the high level of service. The ambiance is nice, great for a date night, cozy for a friends' dinner and the atmosphere at the bar was very lively too. The service was outstanding. I am watching sodium and calories and our waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had a roasted beets salad which was a perfect starter, and perfectly seasoned. My main course was broiled scallops on a bed of polenta with brussels sprouts. This was simply delicious, much much better I would expect of any restaurant."

  • "What a great place! This was my first time here since it opened and I loved it! It was a birthday lunch and I just loved every moment. The service and food were nothing short of outstanding! I had he salad with red and yellow beets and wood roasted salmon. Special surprise was the lovely chunks of creamy, delicious Gorgonzola cheese throughout! My mom had the pistachio encrusted whitefish and loved it! I will be back again and again!"

  • "Valet parking on a frigid winter evening was much appreciated (no charge). Have had many wonderful meals here with great food and excellent service. Short ribs with vegetables was delicious. Their standard chopped salad and warm bread to start as well as their apple crostada for dessert are favorites as well. Will continue to return for some of the best Italian food in the suburbs."

  • "This was the first time we had lunch at Saranellos. After ordering we waited 45 minutes or more for our food. The place was not very crowded. Our server was nice but somewhat uninformed because we ordered garlic bread and she never explained to us that you could only have it during dinner. After we had been sitting there for 45 minutes the manager came over and told us we could not have the garlic bread. My husband and I each got salmon with spinach which was delicious. In the future I would stick with Saranellos for dinner"

  • "This restaurant is attached to the Westin Wheeling. The restaurant was loaded with families and their darling young daughters all dressed for competition. It brought an exciting vibe into the restaurant with lots of people watching. It was a different Saturday night experience than usual at this establishment. Overall, a nice experience."
