Diner Reviews
  • "We ate at Sarabeth's in the evening. Not the famous brunch. The service was friendly, which is itself notable in New York. Not obsequious or fawning, but genuine and friendly. The environment is casual enough that we didn't feel out-of-place dressed to walk in hot July weather. The food was outstanding. I had the lemon sole. It was as good as I've had anywhere, at any price. My teenage son had the chicken caesar salad, and it was not only excellent and fresh, but had more chicken than he could finish. As it was my wife's birthday, we shared a delicious fudge cake."

  • "We have been to SB several times--though mostly for brunch--this time dinner. The salads were very good. Would not recommend the pizza--looked and tasted like a frozen pizza from a grocery store."

  • "Stopped here for breakfast with family and friends during a visit to NYC. Good food and attentive staff. If Sarabeth's has one downfall, it is perhaps that it only opened at 8 a.m., although saying that, the staff were accommodating and allowed people that were early to sit down inside before being seated at their tables."

  • "Best eggs Benedict I've ever had. Beautifully decorated and great location. Food was filling and defiantly worth the price. Would go there every day if I could for breakfast"

  • "They tried their best but I guess in NYC - the world class cuisine capital of the the world (or at least the US) - I expected way more. Ordered filet & burgers medium rare and both were over-cooked and frankly flavorless. The server and manager agreed to redo the filet which came out more rare the next time but equally as un-tasty (I just delt with my overcooked 'trio of burgers' by shoving down one & calling it a day) The service was good but it just wasn't great food unfortunately. Another pet peeve is no ADA access visible - steps up, steps down. Maybe that's NYC. In California, ADA is in place everywhere but more often than not, NYC establishments are not. So, pricey and mediocre but convenient to several hotels & Central Park."

  • "Every time I come to New York, I have lunch or brunch at this restaurant. Although their other food us good , the tomato soup is exceptional. I took my husband today for the first Time. He said it was too good to just be called something as mundane as tomato soup. Great waffles and French toast. The staff is friendly and efficient . Make reservations."

  • "I have not been overly impressed with Sarabeth's other locations but I picked Sarabeth's because it was across from Central Park and out-of-town friend wanted to go to the park. I had an 11:45AM reservation and had to wait about 15 minutes. I ordered vegetable/cheese omelet that was tasteless. Pumpkin muffins and croissants were no longer available. My friend ordered a fruit plate that I thought was below par. It had strawberries, grapefruit and a lot of bananas. Not a high end selection. The coffee was brought to the table already poured in the cup, so it wasnt very hot. I think this restaurant "chain" is overrated!"

  • "Appetizer: mozzarella was frozen Entree: scallops were bitter: probably used old butter and they were under cooked on the inside. Dessert: chocolade cake was dry."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Good food and good service. We got seated in a odd side room for 4 people which made us feel a bit disconnected from ambiance of restaurant but overall a good experience."

  • "We went to dinner here while visiting NYC. It was a great surprise because it was quiet inside, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. Will definitely go back when we are in the city again."

  • "We sat outside, ordered a seafood cobb salad (so worth it!) & the spring vegetable mac and cheese with white sangrias. Great lunch! Ended off with cappuccinos and that warm raspberry bread pudding which was also very delicious! The server & bus boy were also very friendly. Overall I loved it!"

  • "As always, the food was perfect. It's the consistency of Sarabeth's that draws me here . Always fresh food , perfectly cooked !"

  • "Sarabeth's has a reputation for being a great brunch place in New York and it didn't disappoint. We arrived early but they had no problem in accommodating us. Service was efficient without being over the top and food was delicious. Would definitely recommend it if you are visiting Central Park."

  • "Food was not up to par. Water was warm as was that fabulous juice. Unfortunately one of our party's waffle was close to burnt. Not what I have previously experienced at sarabeths."

  • "Food was tasty and well presented; my meal was spoiled by lukewarm coffee. Though I sent it back to be replaced, the replacement cup was the same temperature. We made a mistake by not letting the server know of our 8 pm theater reservations, thinking that our 6pm dining time would allow sufficient time. It took quite a bit, on a Thursday night, to get the check in time to leave (we did make it)."

  • "Sarabeth's is brunch favorite they have excellent baked goods, and some of the best benedicts in the city. I have been here many times, and it is always good. This visit my eggs were a little overcooked and because of this it seemed like I needed more holladaise. The salad was excellent and so was the muffin."

  • "Chicken entree was very tasty, gnudi was delish (but cold) and scallops were also yummy. Waitress was very scripted but friendly. Decor is very tired and back room was smoky (exhaust system?)"

  • "The breakfast was amazing. I would like to go back to try their lunch. Service was quick & the restaurant was much bigger than I thought, which was great for our party of eight."

  • "Reservations recommended. One of the very nice features is that Sara Beth accepts reservations and then follows through on then when you arrive. I hosted breakfast 4 friends from out-of-town. My guests were 2 adults and their 2 school-aged children. We had a Wonderful Time. I frequent SB w/guests for bkfst, lunch, and dinner and they never disappoint. Menu was great for children & adults and service was attentive."

  • "We found Sarabeths to be just so-so. I don't understand what all of the hype is about. The lunch selection was good, the food itself was plentiful but not much flavor. Food service was quick, but server had an attitude. Had to ask three times to have ice tea refilled and twice for the check, requested a different dressing on seafood salad and waiter wouldn't substitute, so changed order to the lobster roll. The club sandwich was huge, but fell apart all over my husband. Trendy, but Not a NYC favorite of mine."

  • "This is our go-to place after a nice stroll around Central Park. Food is consistent, especially the breakfast items. We love the pancakes, French toasts, eggs and bacon -- all cooked to perfection. Hamburger and salads are also good choices but breakfast entrees gets two thumbs up. Been coming here for years with friends and family. However, the last time we dined...... we did not have good service. Three of us had hamburgers, politely asking for mayo and mustard at least three times. It was 15 minutes before the condiments arrived with bad attitude.... but because the hamburger sat there getting cold we didn't eat it. We lost appetite waiting. The breakfast plates were great! Beautifully executed and yummy!"

  • "Vi bestilte bord for å spise frokost. Lite trivelig lokale. Følte oss ikke "hjemme". Maten var ikke ikke særlig god. For frokost og drikke til to voksne og to barn betalte vi ca 100 dollar. Det var det ikke verdt!"

  • "The breakfast was fine but not more than that. The orange juice was not squeezed and we paid it 8 dollars. I went to the one in Central Park and I ve been disappointed as it look very old."

  • "Looking for a great brunch? This is the place. We have visited NYC three times in the last nine months, and each time we have made sure to make Sarabeth's a part of our weekend. There are several locations in Manhattan, but we have made Central Park south our regular stop. We're not very creative when it comes to our menu selection. Sometimes you find something you love, and you just have to have it again. For my wife and I, that's the Apple-Cinnamon French Toast with fresh sliced bananas and apple butter. But there's so much more. You just have to check out the menu. Brunch starts at 8:00 AM on Weekends. Be sure to make reservations, it gets very busy as the morning goes on. When it's time to return to NYC, we'll be back again!"

  • "The waitstaff were friendly and professional. There were plenty of breakfast items to choose from and our food was delicious. My husband had strawberry pancakes and I had a coconut waffle with mango preserves. The only downside was price. Our ticket with tax and tip was $70--for what boiled down to pancakes and a waffle. If you want a splurge however, this is a fantastic place!"

From fresh grapefruit juice, cappuccinos & large delicate croissants & perfect Egg Benedit's in perfect setting! 8 AM reservation was needed for the window view & within the hour the restaurant was filled! Great experience!"
