A word from Sapphire Grill
One of the city's most consistently stylish restaurants evokes a low-key, counterculture bistro, but its cuisine is grander and more cutting-edge than its industrial-looking decor and its level of hipness would imply. Wrapped in warm brick and cool steel, the Sapphire Grill has steeped itself in a history of fine culinary tradition. Christopher Nason is the owner and the most talked about chef of the moment in Savannah, preparing what he defines as a "coastal cuisine" based on seafood hauled in on the day of its preparation from nearby waters. From seasonal chanterelles and oregon black truffles, to the most tender cuts of meat and delicate seafood, Chef Nason and his team work feverishly to keep Sapphire at the mark expected of her. Diner Reviews
  • "Food good but overly expensive. Mediocre service. Lousy overpriced (at $12) Mint Julep that was mainly large ice cubes. Had much better food at lower prices several times in Savannah."

  • "Historical building with great vibes and food. Seems to be frequented by locals who are aware of its superb food. Situated in old Savannah, one would probably not pick this out from the street, but it is worth the trip."

  • "Our waiter was not attentive to our table and we waited long periods for acknowledgement, drink orders, food orders, and after dinner coffees. Never checked in on us after the food was served and although the olive oil for the bread was poured, the bread came 20" later. The food was good, once we got it...the duck was moist and flavorful and the grouper was delicious. There are just too many other restaurants to try to put up with poor service."

  • "My girlfriend and I visited Savannah for the weekend and made reservations ahead of time based on reviews by trip advisor. Based on our experience from appetizer all the way to dinner an dessert this place is remarkable. I ordered the bone marrow with diver scallops and my girlfriend ordered the Nantucket diver scallops. I didn't know what to expect considering that I never had bone marrow before but the appetizer was amazing. I was also impressed with the way that our server, Courtney, did an excellent job spacing out our meals and making our dining experience that much more enjoyable. For dinner my girlfriend ordered the grouper which is to die for and the swordfish terrific. Great ambiance. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Nice comfortable Savannah restaurant. Great attention from waiter even though we were on the 3rd floor. I think it was quieter there than on the ground floor. Not heavy on low country cuisine which is a relief. Excellent fish choices."

  • "We were extremely late and the staff could not have been understanding and treated us fabulously. Definitely would highly recommend and plan to return often"

  • "Not the best in Savannah, but good food and service."

  • "If your primary goal is big portions, this may be the place for you. It is a good thing that be shared the appetizers, crabcakes. I had roasted breast of duck, my wife the blackened grouper, both big prtions. It is strange to pair the duck with onion rings, that is fatty too, cabbage might go better with is, just my opinion. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. For the price maybe it should be."

  • "Our reservation began with a bump. Management quickly handled the matter for us once we notified them. I cannot express how thankful I am for their low noise level! Dining is a pleasure! the food is interesting and delicious in comparison to other restaurants I frequent in town!"

  • "The food was good, but not worth it for the prices. The portion amounts do not reflect the prices either. Overall, you can do much better elsewhere."

  • "We had the corner booth table on the second floor. My Martini was perfect. The bread and olive oil was amazing. My scallops were large and portion sizes good. They even brought us chocolate covered strawberries with Happy Anniversary written In chocolate on our plate. Charming restaurant tucked into the heart of Savannah!"

  • "We booked on the recommendation of friends, and were not disappointed. Greens were fresh and well prepared, and the grouper was excellently prepared. The cobbler was delicious, and we finished it completely. They have a good wine list, as well as a nice selection of cordials and after dinner drinks."

  • "waitress was a disaster. She did not want to be there and therefore we did not want to be there. Food was okay but came out cold. Could not wait to leave."

  • "A well paced meal with great salads and entrees. Tuna was particularly noteworthy. Server was gracious and attentive"

  • "Went to celebrate our anniversary and were impressed once again. We were seated at a romantic table upstairs, perfect ambiance. The food was great, make sure to save room for dessert. Will be back!"

  • "This was the best meal I have ever had! My husband and I chose the "chef's choice" so, as our water said, "the chef could "show off a little." Each of the six courses were absolute masterpieces! The ahi tuna in white chocolate sauce with jalapeños brought years to my eyes because I have NEVER (nor will I probably ever again) enjoy such a delicious taste sensation. Our waiter talked the CHEF into leaving his kitchen to speak with us because we enjoyed his work so much. As I told him, we dine our way through every city we visit and this was our favorite, EVER. Should we return to Savannah, Sapphire Grill will be our first and last dinner reservation during our stay."

  • "Food was great but service was pretentious and less than inviting. It was obvious that the bartender was annoyed that we had the nerve to order a glass of wine. Initially, the waiter was attentive and discussed the specials and signature items on the menu. As the night progressed he was less and less interested in working our table or having further discussion. On a good note, the host was friendly and energetic. This appears to be a locals type of place as there were several in the room that the staff knew and gave the most attention."

  • "My experiences sapphire Grill was excellent in all respects. The ambience was very nice, a table for two was quaint, and the service and food was exceptional. There is a $25 corkage fee which I don't find too extreme. And we ended up splitting an appetizer and an entrée. When they came out on separate plates, the portions were so large we thought the server had mistakenly thought we wanted to order two of each. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the ambience was very very nice, I would go back to sapphire Grill again in a heartbeat."

  • "It is always a treat to eat here each time we come to Savannah."

  • "The Sapphire Grill obviously has a great chef, and we really enjoyed the food! Prices are high, but one could live with that is everything would have been as great as the food. Unfortunately, the place lacked in basic attention to hygiene. The menus handed upon seating were dirty with grease spots all over, and one with a flatened piece of broccoli. The water glasses smelled of a poor dish washing job, and our shoes were sticking to the toilet floor. This is the only reason I am not recommending this restaurant."

  • "very good experience. food, service, menu variety all very good. Seemed like if everything would not have gone great, there could have been an attitude issue with waiter, but, alas, all went great."

  • "I had made reservations for a 'romantic' dinner here. When I did I asked for an intimate table and they didn't disappoint. Our table was placed off in a nook on the second floor. It was a definite intimate place setting. The food was great (although not the best in Savannah) and the wait staff was good also, but the ambiance made the night. Great"

  • "Overall, the experience was negatively influenced by the very high pricing. This should have been listed as $$$$. Wine by the glass list was limited. Too expensive for the overall dinner."
    Dined on 2/20/2014
  • "Very good dinner. We chose mostly seafood incluring clamari, scallops, swordfish and duck. We paired with Pichon Lalande 2002. Excellent"

  • "We eat here every time we visit Savannah and it is truly the best dinning experience in Savannah. Food flavors are outstanding. It is a must do in my opinion for any visit to the area."

  • "The food was good but pricey, except for the tuna it was well worth it!"
    Dined on 2/16/2014
  • "Good service, great atmosphere, and most of all, great food. My swordfish was the thickest piece I ever remember having been served; perfectly cooked, moist and tender. My companion's grouper was likewise excellent. Extra-attentive service, beautiful place. Can't wait to go back there next time we're in Savannah. Expensive, but well worth it for a special meal."

  • "The atmosphere was excellent for a romantic Valentine's Day dinner. The lighting and mood was perfect. The service was perfect and prompt. The food was placed on the plates like artwork. Every bite was devine! I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion or just a date night."

  • "This is a foodie special place. Bouilaibase was great and my wife's duck was prepared very well. Definitely a return spot for us. Expensive but worth every penny."

  • "Every time we visit Savannah we also go to the Sapphire Grill it never lets us down! Amazing food and drinks as always! The bartender was fabulous (Matt). I highly recommend checking this place out!!!"

  • "Terrible service. I was served a different entre than I ordered. They never even offered to correct it. Even if they had, I was with three other people who meal had already been served their meals. I would have watched them eat and they would have had to wait until I finally got served. The dinner was a disaster. I ended eating what they had brought and was less than impressed. What was hard to understand was this restaurant had the same rating on opentable as Elizabeth's on 37th Street."

  • "My wife and I came here for the 2nd time. This time was for my wife's birthday. We had the tuna just like last time and were amazed again. It's best when it's cooked medium rare. The ambiance and setting was perfect. If ever in Savannah you must try this place."
    Dined on 1/3/2014
  • "I loved the ambience of this restaurant. The waiters were very friendly and professional. Service was great. The wine list was great as was the Manhattan I had. The hot bread with olive oil, pepper and cheese was outstanding. Our salads were simple but very good too. My main course of salmon and wok vegetables was good but too salty. I would definitely come back"

  • "Second time to eat here, the first being the occasion to seek it out for the second. Good wine list, great mixed drinks, wonderful food, outstanding friendly and professional service. What's not to like? We'll be back the next time we're in town!"
