  • "The food was excellent. The meat (new york) was fabulous yet a bit too large for my taste and there are no options for a smaller steak. This would not deter me from going again. Salad , bread and sides all excellent. Highly recommend for a special dinner out."

  • "Have to say, we had huge expectations based on other reviews. Sadly we were terribly disappointed. The waitress never introduced herself and immediately told us that they were out of the two dishes that my husband was interested in. The only saving grace was the foie gras that my husband ordered. The crab cakes were mediocre and the duck dish was undercooked and tough. In contrast the grouper dish was overcooked and bland. To finish things up the berry cobbler was more of a berry soup and was practically inedible. We spent over 200 dollars on a dinner that will be remembered for all the wrong reasons. Being from Charleston, we could have spent a fraction of the money for better quality food at our neighborhood bistro."

  • "About 6 weeks ago we had one of the best meals we have had in Savannah at "the Grill" so we went back for our 41st wedding anniversary and was not disappointed. Besides the best meal we had in 6 weeks the parking is extremely easy from the Ellis Garage. It was a special evening in Savannah....thank you Sapphire Grill."

  • "Our food and service were superior. The entrees, scallop appetizer, and dessert were all beautifully presented and delicious. The only negative was the high cost of drinks and wine. We'll go back for the food, but when cocktails or a glass of wine hover in the mid teens, it starts to feel like a rip off."

  • "I went to Sapphire Grill five years ago on a recommendation from a local friend. We were visiting for my husbands birthday. It was a fabulous meal and I had the best grey goose martini I have ever had. All that being said, I was excited to try it again. My girlfriend and I do a girls weekend every year and we always try to go somewhere nice. Sapphire Grill again did not disappoint. The martini were still just as great, the service was warm and friendly. Not stuffy at all and the food was amazing. My BFF had the duck breast which tasted like steak. Tender not oily and a huge portion. We ordered the berry cobbler for dessert with lemon gelato. Divine! Great evening out. Only downfall of SG is that the tables are too close together."

  • "Located right next door to Paula Dean's, Saphire Grille was recommended by several locals for a "great dining experience." We were seated on the main level of the restaurant-found out later that there was another, nicer dining room.Interesting and diversified menu. The waiter was efficient, but not overly helpful.The foie gras was served with an onion gelato (sounds weird, but really delicious. The bone marrow appetizer -also different and delicious. Steak with Kobe oxtail /juicy,flavorful as was the grouper."

  • "I had the filet with soy sauce on side. Amazing. They buy the soy sauce then spice it up. Steak cook perfect melt in your mouth. My son who is a bit more daring had the steak tartar for an appitezzer and love it. He had a pasta dish with oxtail brisket and shrimp again amazing. My wife had a chicken dish very flavorful. Our waitress was attentive and knowledgable. We go to savannah a lot and look for new places to fine. sapphire was recommended to my son so we tried it. We were not disappointed."

  • "Service was much like you'd expect in Paris - the waitress was helpful but not available. The lavender vinaigrette on the salad was pure vinegar. I thought,"If I eat the whole salad, I'll have blisters in my mouth." They did take it off the bill. The chicken main was good. The signature grouper dish was great. The best was the berry cobbler with myer lemon ice cream, and the flourless chocolate cake was good, too. Overall, okay, but with so many other great dining options in Savannah, Sapphire Grill will be a "been there, done that" for me...."

  • "I picked this restaurant based on reviews and the type of cuisine they offered. I had never been to Savannah before so it was a gamble. I have to say that I did good! This restaurant was fantastic! Food was superb! Not too crowded and very relaxed for the type of food they offer. I started out with a ceasar salad which had a great ceasar dressing and home made croutons. I ordered the Benne encrusted grouper with seasonal veggies, jasmine rice and sweet soy. Absolutely devine! It melts in your mouth! For dessert, I ordered the chocolate torte. Everything I tasted was fabulous!"

  • "The food was very good, bit a bit pricey. I looked at their menu online at several websites, and the prices shown were about 10 percent less than the actual prices in the restaurant. I find this misleading, however the food was good. I still cannot believe that my wife and I had grouper and paid a total of $74.00 for a fish."

The service was superb, our server was very attentive without hovering or rushing us in any way. The bar service, appetizers, main dishes and desert will all great and we had a wonderful experience at the Sapphire Grill. We won't take wait 32 years to come back!"

  • "The food here is wonderful...well prepared and well presented. The portions are "American sized" which means they are a bit large. The prices are a bit high...they must have a wonderful profit margin beyond what you would find at most eating establishments. $7 to $10 worth of ingredients on the plate becomes a $39 entrée...they could charge $25 to $30 and still be doing well. I will go back, but not on a regular basis...this is a special occasion place."

  • "From the moment we arrived, the staff congratulated us on our anniversary. Food was delicious, wine choices were very good, and they brought us chocolate covered strawberries on a bed of chocolate mousse, with "Happy 40th Anniversary" written in chocolate around the rim of the plate! We were to Sapphire Grill in 2002, but we sure won't wait that long before we go back again. It was wonderful."

  • "The food was fantastic until my husband's entree came out of the kitchen cold while mine was piping hot! It was our anniversary so it was a great disappointment. Getting the food out at the right temperature is elementary. But what really was disappointing is that the waiter thought giving us a free dessert which already had happy anniversary written on the plate was an adequate response. The restaurant should have taken the entree off the bill. Not very classy."

  • "This was our 50th anniversary meal. We chose it from the reviews. We had the 'chefs tasting menu', a 6 course meal. It was probably the best meal we've ever had!! From the opening scallop with kobe beef on black rice risotto to the chocolate custard with chocolate honey and caramel sauce. There were clams, housemade ricotta cheese, Russian caviar, lamb shank--we never knew what was coming next and we were always surprised and satisfied at the chef's offerings. This was the highlight of our anniversary week in Savannah, GA."

  • "We visited the Sapphire grill for the first time about a year and a half ago and ordered the Chef's Choice 6 Course dinner. It was fantastic, the service was fantastic and we raved about it to our friends. We decided to go back and were expecting the same thing. We could have not been more disappointed. The 6 courses seemed to just be coming in random order along with the wine pairings. we went from a cuvee, to a Sauvignon Blanc, to a pinot noir, proseco, and another cuvee followed up with a port for dessert. The wines were fine with the courses, but I have never started with a red and then back to whites with a proseco in between. The courses were average in terms of taste and it seemed we were rushed with our meal. "

  • "The food and service were terrible. I went here years ago and had a great time. I thought returning would be a good choice, I was wrong. My chicken, which of course is not the cheapest there, was rubbery! When I'm paying a decent amount of money for dinner, I at least expect decent food. Also, we were the first ones in the restaurant, didn't order appetizers or desserts, and we didn't get out of there until almost 1.5 hours later. We just sat around waiting on our waiter and food the entire time. I highly advise against going here."

  • "Went here for a special occasion. Service good. First course Foie was a very hearty portion. Scallop ap was not as good as it looked. Steak was cooked to perfection. Bouillbaisse was terrible. Shrimp were overdone....sitting in the window I imagine.No flavor what so ever. I used to think this was the spot. Its not. Your prices on some dishes are just way off. Saphire Grill will not be our special occasion spot."

  • "So even though everything was good, we were a group of 6 and disappointed the restaurant was out of several authentic choices; the swordfish and tuna included. They only had one bottle left of the white wine we ordered, so again, disappointing. The server spilled cold water all over me accidentally while refilling another guest's water glass. He "compped" our desserts as a result, but not the best experience unfortunately. Everyone raved about this restaurant but so many other great choices in Savannah that I won't likely return. "

  • " Our son surprised us by calling ahead for the downstairs private dining room. It's also the wine cellar but we never felt disturbed by the occasional waiter coming in to retrieve a bottle. But the best part of the restaurant is the food. ......everything we had was absolutely delicious. I had a black grouper dish that was a special that night and my husband had a lamb dish from the specials. Our dessert was scrumptious and only wish I could have eaten the generous portion they gave us.......A warm, homemade 3 berry cobbler.....individually prepared....yummy. We love Savannah and know we'll return someday and will definitely hope to enjoy another great meal at Sapphire Grill."

  • "Made reservations for four based on recommendation of friends and OT reviews. Certainly glad I did. Arrived thirty minutes early and had drinks at the bar. My first thought was that the dining area seemed small, but was later to find that there is a separate dining area on the third floor, which our waitress escorted us to by elevator. IMHO the third floor is the place to be as it is quiet and inviting with beautiful artwork. The tables are uncrowded, making for an intimate and unrushed dining experience. Our server was great-helpful, engaging, but not "hovering." The food was top-notch from the appetizers to the dessert sampler. Only the roasted chicken dish was less than excellent, as it needed a more distinctive flavor."

  • "Our waiter was not attentive to our table and we waited long periods for acknowledgement, drink orders, food orders, and after dinner coffees. Never checked in on us after the food was served and although the olive oil for the bread was poured, the bread came 20" later. The food was good, once we got it...the duck was moist and flavorful and the grouper was delicious. There are just too many other restaurants to try to put up with poor service."
