One of the city's most consistently stylish restaurants evokes a low-key, counterculture bistro, but its cuisine is grander and more cutting-edge than its industrial-looking decor and its level of hipness would imply. Wrapped in warm brick and cool steel, the Sapphire Grill has steeped itself in a history of fine culinary tradition. Christopher Nason is the owner and the most talked about chef of the moment in Savannah, preparing what he defines as a "coastal cuisine" based on seafood hauled in on the day of its preparation from nearby waters.   • "Our waiter was not attentive to our table and we waited long periods for acknowledgement, drink orders, food orders, and after dinner coffees. Never checked in on us after the food was served and although the olive oil for the bread was poured, the bread came 20" later. The food was good, once we got it...the duck was moist and flavorful and the grouper was delicious. There are just too many other restaurants to try to put up with poor service."

  • "My girlfriend and I visited Savannah for the weekend and made reservations ahead of time based on reviews by trip advisor. Based on our experience from appetizer all the way to dinner an dessert this place is remarkable. I ordered the bone marrow with diver scallops and my girlfriend ordered the Nantucket diver scallops. I didn't know what to expect considering that I never had bone marrow before but the appetizer was amazing. I was also impressed with the way that our server, Courtney, did an excellent job spacing out our meals and making our dining experience that much more enjoyable. For dinner my girlfriend ordered the grouper which is to die for and the swordfish terrific. Great ambiance. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "If your primary goal is big portions, this may be the place for you. It is a good thing that be shared the appetizers, crabcakes. I had roasted breast of duck, my wife the blackened grouper, both big prtions. It is strange to pair the duck with onion rings, that is fatty too, cabbage might go better with is, just my opinion. The food is good, but nothing extraordinary. For the price maybe it should be."

They even brought us chocolate covered strawberries with Happy Anniversary written In chocolate on our plate. Charming restaurant tucked into the heart of Savannah!"

  • "This was the best meal I have ever had! My husband and I chose the "chef's choice" so, as our water said, "the chef could "show off a little." Each of the six courses were absolute masterpieces! The ahi tuna in white chocolate sauce with jalapeños brought years to my eyes because I have NEVER (nor will I probably ever again) enjoy such a delicious taste sensation. Our waiter talked the CHEF into leaving his kitchen to speak with us because we enjoyed his work so much. As I told him, we dine our way through every city we visit and this was our favorite, EVER. Should we return to Savannah, Sapphire Grill will be our first and last dinner reservation during our stay."

  • "Food was great but service was pretentious and less than inviting. It was obvious that the bartender was annoyed that we had the nerve to order a glass of wine. Initially, the waiter was attentive and discussed the specials and signature items on the menu. As the night progressed he was less and less interested in working our table or having further discussion. On a good note, the host was friendly and energetic. This appears to be a locals type of place as there were several in the room that the staff knew and gave the most attention."

  • "My experiences sapphire Grill was excellent in all respects. The ambience was very nice, a table for two was quaint, and the service and food was exceptional. There is a $25 corkage fee which I don't find too extreme. And we ended up splitting an appetizer and an entrée. When they came out on separate plates, the portions were so large we thought the server had mistakenly thought we wanted to order two of each. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, the ambience was very very nice, I would go back to sapphire Grill again in a heartbeat."

  • "The Sapphire Grill obviously has a great chef, and we really enjoyed the food! Prices are high, but one could live with that is everything would have been as great as the food. Unfortunately, the place lacked in basic attention to hygiene. The menus handed upon seating were dirty with grease spots all over, and one with a flatened piece of broccoli. The water glasses smelled of a poor dish washing job, and our shoes were sticking to the toilet floor. This is the only reason I am not recommending this restaurant."

  • "Terrible service. I was served a different entre than I ordered. They never even offered to correct it. Even if they had, I was with three other people who meal had already been served their meals. I would have watched them eat and they would have had to wait until I finally got served. The dinner was a disaster. I ended eating what they had brought and was less than impressed. What was hard to understand was this restaurant had the same rating on opentable as Elizabeth's on 37th Street."
