  • "We were there, a group of 6 of us on Tuesday, 3/25/14. We were seated on the second level. I was sitting under a fan and it was cold. I had to ask for hot water refills four times. By the time I get my refill of hot water, it was at the end of the meal. Not so good with service! Gayle Chan"

  • "We ate at Sappore's while in SF on vacation. We selected it mainly because it was close to the hotel, and we're glad we did. The food was fantastic! My wife said that the gnocchi was the best she had ever had. The rest of our dishes were very good as well....and the desserts were phenomenal."

  • "The food and service were great. The veal chop on the specials menu was excellent! The only drawback is some of the tables, particularly on the upper level, are positioned too close together. Our table had less than 6 in from the one on my right, and about 12 in from the one on the left. No chance for a private conversation. It was a full house on Friday evening, but yet, it was a bit uncomfortable, being so crowded."

The salads and pasta specials were all excellent - loved my noodles with clams and scallops and spicy marina sauce. Great mix of families, dates and friends out for a fun meal."

  • "My husband and I recently moved to Burlingame, we walked past Sapore one night and decided to give it a try… We've been back countless times already. This is Italian food at it's best. The owner Massimo, is always greeting guests as they arrive. If you're vegetarian the Sacchetto Vegetariano or Gorgonzolla Gnocchi are AMAZING!!! Also you must start with their Calamari. It is cooked perfectly which most restaurants have trouble with. Their wine list has something for everyone, but if you plan ahead, their corkage is only $15/bottle. Try to save enough room for their homemade vanilla gelato, you won't be sorry."

  • "It was a busy night when my wife and I got there. We where seated within 10 minutes and our server was so gracious and pleasant. Food came out in a little longer; but, that's because it was busy. The server made it a point that we were alright by asking. The food wa great especially my Linguene Bolognese."

  • "I used to love this restaurant, but between the loud rumble of an inexplicable machine throughout dinner (heater?) and the mediocre food, I was really disappointed. I brought a friend from NY here hoping for a good Italian meal, and was somewhat embarrassed that I had suggested this restaurant. The wine was disappointing as well as the food. I'm sorry to have to write this review. (BTW, the waiter was informed immediately about the irritating noise, and he did not offer to move us)."

  • "it was a valentine surprise for my wife. we normally stay home and celebrate valentine's day which also happens be our anniversary day quietly. had 7:30 reservations but the staff seated us even though we were early. the service was efficient and prompt. the restaurant was a good find. I would recommend sapore to anyone."

  • "Went to try out Sapore for the first time for dinner for my birthday. Cute restaurant with nice atmosphere. We had a reservation and did not have to wait long for a table, which was good. Service was okay, though not anything special (our server only checked on us once to see how we were doing once we got our food). Food took awhile to come out. The portion for the caprese appetizer was quite small. The gnocchi was delicious, which was the highlight of the meal. We also ordered the sole, which was not particularly flavorful - in addition, I almost choked on a fish bone, and ended up finding four bones in the portion of fish that I was served. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, which was good, but didn't really stand out."

  • "I have been told by friends that going to Sapore was much like dining in Italy - no rush, the Waitress was Italian and very helpful. I had the Zuppa de Pesce - it was marvelous, as was the calamari appetizer and caesar salad so nice - and they have a nice selection of Italian wines wither by glass or bottle. Such a lovely place. Not a lot of lawyers in business suits but rather a nice family placewith down home people. Ciao, Phillipo"

  • "Sapore's Italian professional waitstaff who contributed to the ambiance and experience and made great food greater has sadly disappeared. These brothers know better! No silverware was given, waters never re-filled, our waitress refused to make eye contact and we couldn't understand what she waseven saying when we asked about what was on Antipasti plate. The appetizer was literally dropped onto the table and clattered til it hit it's stride. Items were repetitive, no variety as promised, but what was there was very good. The main meal, still sans flatware, was also dropped in front of us. shipshod on the table. The special artichoke and scallop pasta lacked seasoning and artichokes. Mini-canelloni were hard and barely filled. So sad."

  • "I normally love this restuarant, but we were seated upstairs in the back.....absolutely no ambience! The tables could us tablecloths and the room itself needs some TLC! The room is very, very loud, I could hardly hear the people at my table. The food was delicious, the service is always great, but maybe they need to hire a few extra people on the nights they are totally booked. I will continue to go to this restuarant, but will request a seat on the first level. As I stated before, the food is wonderful and I do love this place, just not the "room upstairs"!"

  • "This is a great restaurant in every way. I believe I have eaten here four times and one of the things that immediately stood out is the freshly made pasta. Everyone at my table noticed this. This time I had the lentil soup and appreciate the taste immensely. I wanted penne pasta and although it was not on the menu the waiter said he would get the chef to make it and they added excellent tasting sausage. This restaurant is in a great location, has great service, reasonable prices and large portions. Additionally, they have an excellent happy hour and nice wine list. You need to allow for longer review content"

  • "Service as bad as I have ever seen for a supposedly good restaurant. Manager, waiters, bus-boys - all seem indifferent to customer. Took fifteen minutes to get a waiter, then another 10 for a drink and my drink was wrong - then another 5 or ten minutes. Food service from kitchen was very good and food delivered hot. Hostess spent too much time talking to friends!! Bar did not know what a twist was it seemed - just peeled lemon skin. Had to ask for refill on water. On and on. I will not return - not worth a second chance. Manager would walk by table and could see no bread, no water and did nothing."
