Sapor CafeOh, what a night! We, 2 couples, had a wonderful evening. Started with drinks and apps on the patio, then they happily moved us inside when the mosquitos appeared - both settings were lovely.
Our server, Topher, took very good care of us and we enjoyed every dish and drink immensely.
Thank you!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe always enjoy the uniqueWe always enjoy the unique menu and presentation of the food at Sapor Café. It is always fresh and local" in-season food". We are never disappointed. One benefit of eating here is that you do not have to go all the way into the downtown congestion if you are coming in from the suburbs. They are located just north of the warehouse district on Washington so you do not hit the congestion. Plus they have a free parking lot across the street in the evenings so it is an easy "in-out" if you want it. It is so simple to enjoy Sapor that we find ourselves coming there often.6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, Attentive ServiceSapor is a wonderful place to bring your friends - foodies or not. The setting is soft contemporary w/ comfortable seating, and big expanses of window. The small but well laid out bar is active w/a good drink menu. It is separated from the dining area which minimizes noise.
But enough about the lovely setting. The menu features a small number of well- prepared dishes from a variety of world cuisines along w/many locally sourced ingredients. We shared a soft shell crab sandwich cooked in cornmeal and served w/aioli, Thai shrimp with/jicama, and an Ethiopian dor wort(sp?) w/injera (a flat bread), Harissa spiced yogurt, and curried chick peas. The mix of flavors and quality of ingredients received raves all around.
Service was great, too.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBig PartyI recently held a big group get-together here for dinner. Sapor was very accommodating as the group number grew. The wait-staff were quite friendly and made good suggestions, and kept a good eye on our drinks throughout the evening. We even had a friend that couldn't make it send 2 bottles of champagne for those attending! Overall the ambience, staff, and food were really good. Perhaps a little pricey, and maybe not as many food choices as other restaurants but an overall good time, good experience.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMIt's a secret gem!We always come away from a meal at Sapor's wishing we lived in the neighborhood. Good variety in what's offered for carnivores and vegetarians of all sorts. We appreciate being able to choose among small or large entrees. Great cocktails and very food-friendly wine list. Service is always amiable. Lots of good vibes all around.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service. We hadExcellent service. We had a group of 24 that grew to 27 at the last minute and they dealt with the huge party with no problems. The menu is short, simple, and full of excellent choices.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was great, like theThe food was great, like the mission states, they had tastes from around the world. They had really good housemade drinks as well that paired well with the food. We went on a weekday night, and while it was kind of late we were the only group there and had pretty poor service. Our waitress was nice when she was there, but we went long stretches where she just vanished. I hope that it was just an off night and that the people at the bar had better service.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMTasty menuI liked the tastes and the ambiance.
Our group was really happy with the modest noise levels.
This is a function of not trying to crowd too many in the dining room5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMA nice restaurant close toA nice restaurant close to downtown Minneapolis where I can always get a reservation.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat food, bartender, waitstaffeverything welcomes you to Sapor. We sampled 4 different menu items and they were all excellent. Try the specialty drinks.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMGathering with colleaguesWe were a group of 10 and the setting was excellent for that. The service was good...not 'interuptive' but 'attentive', the food was excellent, and the decor is lovey and allows for conversation. I noted the bar area as we were leaving and plan to come back with my partner and have dinner there one weeknight!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe'll go there again. We are very fortunate to be friends with another couple whom we have dinner with on a very regular basis. The decision of where we have dinner changes from month to month. This past Thursday (5/2/2013) it was my responsibility to chose a place to have dinner and after checking out the reviews provided by "Open Table" I decided on the Sapor Café. Much to my delight we were all more than satisfied with the setting, the service, the meal, and also the cost of our dining experience. That being said, we all agreed that in the not to distant future we will return to the Sapor Café.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Business Lunch LocationGood place to meet for a business lunch discussion. This is one of the few lunch places that you can actually hear without loud side chatter and clanking dishes to talk above. The waitstaff was respectively attentive. Simple interior, tastefully done. Reasonable prices for lunch - a sit-down sandwich down the street starts at $9, so there are some good choices here in the $7 - $14 range. Portion sizes were just right for lunch. Menu is short but mixes up different flavors and cuisines. We ordered the falafel salad, pancetta burger, grilled chicken romaine salad. All were very good and simply presented. Do NOT skip the warm sourdough rolls, dab of herb butter served on the side OR the chocolates you get with the check!5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMSapor is a real gem of a "neighborhSapor is a real gem of a "neighborhood" restaurant. The Thai grilled shrimp was exceptional, and my three companions all enjoyed their dishes. There is a wide array of deliciously drinkable cocktail/beer selections, and the welcoming and attentive service was spot on. This place has a great, cross-generational vibe!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great experience!!!My wife and I are big fans of Sapor. We have have always had exceptional services, great food, inventive cocktails, and just overall great experiences. This visit was no different. I had a wonderful play on a bloody mary for a cocktail. My wife had an excellent eggplant dish and I had a wonderful shrimp dish. Sapor is truly one of our Top 3 restaurants in the Twin Cities.
We hope Sapor continues to provide this level of service and quality of food.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Service! What a nice downtown neighborhood restaurant.
Also so unusual to see a menu that had entree's in the $18 to $22 range that weren't burgers and sandwiches.
The carrot soup was outstanding, the eggplant was voted the best entree of our table. Stewed Chicken nice and spicy and the curry shrimp delightful.
Our server Julie, made it an wonderful evening. One of the best servers we have had in the last 3 years.
Oh... try the olives!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMCan't go wrong at SaporSapor is one of our city's true gems. The bar is as pretty and cozy as any. The food as been great and inventive for years and remains so. Not a pick-up spot, but a great place for a intimate date or a for a group of friends to eat great food and enjoy interesting drinks. The service was fantastic. This is the second time I have had a large group event at Sapor and both times they have been incredibly accommodating.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food, skilled andWonderful food, skilled and excellent service and top notch drinks. It was a mid-week evening and very quiet. Will definitely return again.3/13/2013 12:00:00 AMYumThe food and service here were great as usual. There is always something new to try and their specials are always flavorful and original. We had the fish tacos and honestly there was enough food for two dinners. Of course I finished it all though.3/1/2013 12:00:00 AM
