Since the last time we were at Santorini, the restaurant has changed hands: the portions got bigger, but the food got bad. I would have assigned zero stars if I had the choice, so they got one star they don't deserve. It has been the worse food I have ever had in Greek Town, not at Santorini, where I have been several times. The lamb was not that great, the vegetables were overcooked. We didn't even venture to try deserts. We talked to the new manager. He did not apologize. He said he had been there for two months and he was doing his best to learn what was not going well. He kept repeating: give us another chance and come back. No "I'm sorry!" No "What can I do to have you back?" Lemon twist Martini was $12! We'll never come back!

We came to Santorini in a group of 3 couples and each left underwhelmed by the food & drink quality. Appetizers: saganaki cheese was good & saganaki sausage fair, but the octopus appetizer was overcooked and smelled fishy. Main course: lamb chops were well executed, but the lamb shank dishes were supremely average, overcooked, flavorless and served lukewarm to boot. Desserts: Greek donuts were undercooked and as a result doughy inside. Baklava was wet to the point of falling apart. A better choice would have been to walk to the bakery down the street to Astoria for some real Greek desserts. Lesson learned on Santorini, try other Greektown restaurants.

We always enjoy bringing our friends downtown to enjoy the Greektown experience. Santorini's is a must when it comes to a great dining experience. The atmosphere is electric because of the continual shouts of "OPA" when the wait staff serves a flaming dish such as saginaki. We are usually fortunate to have Chris as our waiter who not only knows the menu and wine list inside out, but always has a story or two that keeps us laughing. In only a couple years they have become the place to go for dining in Greektown instead of the old name restaurants.

Santorini is a beautiful, upscale Greek restaurant with a charming nautical theme. The environment is quite relaxing and makes the restaurant feel very open. Our server was very quick and willing to recommend some choices. The food came out fairly quickly and was absolutely delicious. We loved every bite. Portions are more than fair for what you pay. We enjoyed our first trip and look forward to more soon.

I came here with my brother just for Detroit Restaurant Week and was surprised to find how elegant the scene was, right in the heart of Greektown. Very spacious (I think I saw close to 100 tables) and romantic (if you were there with a date, that is). I recommend it to anyone who is out and about and doesn't mind spending close to $100 or more (definitely fine dining). I should also mention that the portions are extremely generous (the chicken is literally half of a whole chicken).

I know it was Detroit Restaurant Week, and the waitstaff seemed harried, but c'mon, there were several empty tables and my food still arrived cold. It took a long time for dessert to arrive too; in fact the waiter had forgotten that we ordered off the Restaurant Week menu, which included dessert. The salads were good. I believe this restaurant is fairly new and has lots of competition in their neighborhood (Greektown). If our experience was typical they will not last long.

Dinner for 4 to celebrate a birthday. Lots of others doing the same. We arrived early for our reservation but they were able to seat us immediately. It was the end of Detroit Restaurant Week, Delectricty and a home Tiger game all on a Friday night so crowded and noisy. Food was OK but I suggest stay with the Greek specialties. Avgolemeno, tsaitiki, calamari, gyro and lamb chops very good. Shrimp over cooked = tough and dry. Rice with tomato sauce bland and not hot. Green beans overcooked, bland. Generous portions. Noise level made ordering a chore and got a couple things wrong.

Santorini is the real deal. Outstandingly fresh food, prepared to perfection. The food is spiced the way Greeks enjoy it, not diluted to appeal to all palates. The kind of Greek place I would take my Greek mother to enjoy. The grilled octopus was spectacular. The portions generous. Chrysillis was really attentive as were all who serviced our table. Don't pass up the loukoumades for dessert- with Greek coffee.

I really hope I spelled his name correctly- he was our server when we came in to dine on a busy Saturday night. He took the time to offer suggestions on the food, the wine, traveling to Greece, and overall making our dinner with family very special. We really enjoyed our experience immensely! The only tiny negative was that there were fruit flies when we were trying to enjoy our two bottles of pricey wine. Otherwise, wonderful!!!

In town for a concert and love Greek food. Found Santorini online and took a chance. Quite possibly the best I've ever had. We ordered the feta and hummus appetizers and honestly, we would have been happy with that as our meal. We suffered from eyes bigger than our stomachs and each ordered the traditional trio. It was very tasty (my favorite was the spinach, my friend's was the pasta) but entirely too much food. Our waiter was personable and the place is gorgeous. My only regret is that they don't have a location in Nashville.

I've eaten at a different restaurant in Greektown for years. It seems to be declining every time I go. This time I tried Santorini. I visited prior to a Lions game with my husband and sons. We were seated promptly. The restaurant was very clean. It has a pleasant decor including doors that open to the side walk. Our waiter Erandy was very prompt and polite. In addition to Saganaki we also started with the flaming greek sausage and mixed olives. We would recommend all 3. Our dinner was quite tasty as well. We will definitely return!

We visited Santorini's after dropping off the girls for the One Direction concert on Sunday night. It appears the combination of pre-concert and post-game patrons must have worn out the staff as generally the service was not attentive or overly friendly. Not sure if this would be the case on a more normal evening. The ladies room was out of soap and not refilled even after we mentioned it to the hostess. With the large windows open to the street, the entire restaurant was blasted by many passing cars and their mega sub-woofers. This did not add to the ambiance!! On the positive side, the lamb chop was tasty.

The lamb chops were overcooked and smaller than usual. Everything else was very good including the service. I ordered the chops medium rare and they came well done. I didn't say anything until later because it was very busy and getting late. It has been fantastic food on the week days so draw your own conclusions as this was Friday night, and busy. There are plenty of places to eat in Greek town. Hella's was always our favorite. After it closed we tried several different places. All serve basically the same food. Santorini's is now our new favorite. This was our third visit. It is upscale, neat and clean. The wait staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Someone is always checking with you to see if you need anything. Service is at a more relaxed pace. Nice wine list. Excellent, very fresh salad. Food served hot. My stuffed grape leaves were tender and flavorful. May be the best baklava I have ever tasted.

This our third time frequenting Santorini. We (my wife and I) became fans after our first visit during Detroit's Restaurant week a couple years ago, as we had an outstanding meal. Each time we visit, we are reminded of why we choose to come back. The décor is very charming and reminiscent of Greek style and culture. The service is always excellent as the staff are courteous and attentive. Each time we have visited Santorini we have had the manager stop at our table 1-2x to ensure that we were having an enjoyable experience. The cocktails are tasty (they have a full bar and a number of signature cocktails) and the wine list is comprehensive. The food is simply wonderful. This is my favorite restaurant in Greek Town.
