Biggest issue here was that several of the items on the menu were unavailable. The wine list was also meh. On the plus side the combo appetizer, Greek salad, and Lamb Souvlaki were quite good, although the rice was a bit dry. Still, this would have been four stars had we not run into items on the menu not being available.

Found it on open table. It was very quiet for lunch. Food was good (falafel) as was the greek white wine. Delicious vegetable soup and very friendly service.

For a Greek restaurant, this one was very disappointing. The area is spacious and walls covered with large painted images, but except for the salad and table bread -- a type of pita bread (made from phyllo?), the food was not worth the expense or the trip. The spanakopita did not taste fresh and had all the attributes of beaning part of a mass produced lot purchased from a supplier and then heated. And the feta chese was not cooked within the spanakopita, but sprinkeld on top. It is not the same. We ordered chicken skewers that came badly overcooked to the point of being so dry that we had to add water to each bite. A chance for enchance atmosphere was lost when live musicians did not play ethnic music but background stuff.

A couple of friends joined me there for an early dinner. Definitely want to stay with the Greek offerings! A pair of musicians set up while we were eating and started playing standards from the 1960's and it made for an overall pleasant evening.

Made a lovely reservation for a breakfast meeting, only to discover at meeting time that the restaurant was not open! I stopped in later to let the manager know that open table had incorrect information about when they were open and he did not seem to care.

We had the Island Appetizer which had the best dolmas we had ever had as well as very good babaganoush and tabouli and good hummus. The moussaka we had was not too our liking, as it had very little eggplant and seemed warmed over. The falafels were just ok, and the greek salad was servicable but uninspired. Only beer and wine available as it doesn't have a full bar. Would go back for the appetizers and order something different for the entree.

Had dinner on christmas day with party of six, three of us were kids. I think everyone at the table was pleased with their meal, including the kids and their pizzas. My steak from the regular menu came to me overcooked but the waitress quickly replaced it with a better version. The waitresses didn't seem to stop moving all evening it was too busy.

Santorini is an island of relative quiet in a crowded area. The greeter at the door was very pleasant, showing us to our table and checking on the progress of the meal. The food was good and arrived on time and well-done. That said, the restaurant lacks the "special" feeling one would like from an evening dining out experience. For me, this restaurant had the feeling of a nice cafeteria. The restaurant is experimenting with an unusual way of ordering the meal - an iPad-like device with menu choices selected from pictures on a touch screen. Not something you will encounter at Chez Panisse, and for good reason.

Came here with my wife while in San Francisco to attend a convention at the Moscone Center and staying in Union Square. Lovely ambience. Menu spans the Mediterranean with a focus on Greek and Italian classics. Lots of vegetarian options available. Prices are extremely reasonable for the neighborhood. Santorini's is a hidden gem amidst the tourist traps of Union Square.

I had my eye on this restaurant for awhile since I love Greek food, but only recently had the occasion to eat there. It was a pleasant meal but not as traditional Greek as I had hoped. The Greek salad had fresh greens but had few tomatoes or olives and just a sprinking of feta. The gyro meat was delicious and the pita bread was light and tasty. The tsadziki sauce was milder than I like. There were two musicians who quietly played songs to accompany the dinner and I enjoyed that added touch. It's a good place to have a pre-theater meal as long as you aren't expecting it to be a traditional Greek restaurant.

Whenever we are in San Francisco, we always stop in for dinner at Santorini. Within walking distance from Union Square & Nob Hill, (just be careful walking down; we took Taylor St down to the restaurant). We started out with the Santorini Platter. Glad there were 3 of us to share the appetizers served on a large plate. Love their Greek salad, this time I added chicken. My husband had the Chicken Souvlakia with the saffron rice & vegetables, his favorite; his son had the Caesar Salad & for his entree, Braised Lamb Shank served with garlic mashed potatoes & vegetables. The tab was reasonable for the amount of food + 2 drinks we had. Now that we are at home, I am craving a Santorini meal. Can't wait for another visit to San Francisco!

From the reviews I had expected a higher level. The food was really good, but felt that if it had been plated with more originality it would have been better. I went with a friend and we knew we would be having appetizers & platters. The fried feta was the best, but unfortunately just the pieces of fete on a small plate, could have been much more appealing to the eye. Maybe they take more care in the evening. It also was empty when we arrived, reservations definitely not needed at noon. Service was great and I loved being able to have a Greek wine that was not Retsina.

We were looking forward to recreating Greece from our trips some several years back but we left very disappointed. The moussaka was overly sweet, lacking in bechamel sauce and the aubergines were either not purged or even worse the dish was reheated from frozen. However the Lamb Souvlakis were much better, tender meat with sealed in moisture that stood up well to the accompanying rice. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer and the handheld quiz device was a added extra touch. This is a great location with a full house, we really wanted to recommend the restaurant, good service, good ambience but a little hit and miss on the food.

The Saganaki is not prepared table side. It comes out already done and is disappointing. The lamb was dry and unseasoned. The cabernet tasted like grape juice. The location is great and the ambiance is cool. This place could be so much better. It needs to do things that people expect in good Greek restaurants.

The restaurant was busy when we arrived but quickly emptied out - on a Friday night... there was live music which was nice but a bit loud and not necessarily 'greek' stylings. The food was average - saganaki and calamari were good but not great. Salads were ok, the salmon was done nicely. Overall not much selection for a mediterranean restaurant. Probably would not go back.

I went here on New Years day and had a reservation. When we arrived there was no hostess. I was told by a server that i would be helped in a moment. 3 minutes went by and he got back to me and seated us, with just normal menus, not the New Years menu that was advertised outside. For about 10 minutes we waited for aknowledgment from our server to take drink orders and appitizer orders. Once we did, the server seemed very rushed and didnt tell us any specials, and didnt offer us the special New Years menu, so we just ordered off the regular menu. I ordered the pomegranete chicken and my fiance ordered the lamb shanks. Food was decent, nothing to run home about. Service was VERY poor, and waiter even messed up our bill.
