A word from Santa Lucia Cafe
Santa Lucia Cafe is the only place in the peninsula providing a German Cuisine with an Italian twist. Thin crusted pizzas baked in an oak wood fired brick oven are hard to find these days and Santa Lucia Cafe has definitely built its reputation for it over the past 15 years.
It has the best German beer selection on tap and authentic German & Italian home cooking with anything from Wiener Schnitzel or Sauerbraten (sweet & sour beef roast) with red cabbage or Potato Pancakes to traditional Italian dishes like Veal Picatta, Spinach Ravioli or Mom's Lasagna giving its menu a broad selection for everybody's liking.
Just a few blocks from the Monterey Marriott and Conference Center, Santa Lucia Cafe is the ideal venue for private parties, events, or a quiet dinner experience.

Diner Reviews
  • "I was looking for a new place to take my aunt for her birthday and were delighted we found Santa Lucia Cafe on OpenTable. I felt I was in a German hofbrau, with the open truss ceilings and the general decor. We were there on a quiet night, and the owner's daughter waited on us. She was delightful and attentive, and made a number of excellent suggestions. The menu had both German and Italian specialties -- we stayed with the German food, which was prepared perfectly. A charming place with easy parking."

  • "Greeted by the genial owner/host with a smile and "welcome back" the five of us settled in for a relaxed dinner. Four of us chose from the german side of the menu and all of the schnitzel came with a pork or veal choice, pork was the winner. Schnitzel was crispy on the outside with or without sauce, very nice. House made beef sauerbraten is fork tender and very good. Each dinner came with soup or salad and it is worth the extra two bucks to get spaetzle instead of potatoes (hey, you can get mashed potatoes anywhere). One diner chose from the italian side of the menu and said Mom's Lasagna was very tasty. Wine by the glass is a generous pour and there are reasonable choices and beer on tap. None of us had room for desert."

  • "First time visit here at Santa Lucia did not disappoint. The schnitzel was tender, the side of red cabbage was succulent, and the mashed potatoes creamy and delicious! Try the apple strudel ala mode like I did or the bread pudding my wife ordered to round out a perfect meal. Oh, and the Spaten beer on tap delivered too! We'll be going back!"

  • "Good food, much too generous portions. Location is unfortunate. I imagine it might be busier during the work week. Very empty!!! They were setting up for breakfast before we left -- 9:15."

  • "German & Italian - the food from both sides of the menu was excellent. Had the bacon wrapped scallops and beer brat bites for appetizers. Both were very good. The garlic bread was nothing special but the entrees were excellent - members of our group of 9 ordered dishes from both the German and Italian offerings - all were excellent. The German potato salad and red cabbage sides were particularly good. Then came dessert - both the Apple Strudel and the Banana Pecan Bread Pudding a la mode with delicious. Service was good and they let us choose our own tip rather than adding it to the bill like most restaurants do for groups of 8 or over. Highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Over the course of the Pebble Beach Concorse week we were staying right up the street and visited this great place 4 of 5 days, We were hooked after our first visit and had a completly different meal each night. German first for dinner, next morning for a HUGE omelette, Pizza the next night and finally the lamb shank, one of the best I have ever had"

  • "This was our second visit to Santa Lucia with a large group (7 people). We returned this year because parking is easy, and the food is great. They offer all my favorite German dishes. I like that the owner is there at the restaurant. Our wait person was efficient and attentive enough, but I wish she would have suggested we order a bottle or two of wine instead of individual glasses, because that turned out to be REALLY expensive. The menu gives two prices for wine by the glass. I assumed incorrectly that a glass would be the lesser of the two prices, but it was the higher price, and it was not a generous pour. We will return but will be more savvy about ordering wine."

  • "This restaurant is truly a gem. We ordered the German specialties and could not have been more satisfied. I can't wait to return and try the brauts. Yum!"
