A word from Sangria's
Sangria's Cuban Cafe is a family owned restaurant serving authentic Cuban cuisine in a laid back Caribbean atmosphere. We are from Miami and are proud to bring our Cuban heritage to Knoxville. Among our menu selections, we offer Cuban sandwiches made with authentic Cuban bread, Cuban style roasted pork, and some Spanish cuisine including paellas made from scratch. Come by and experience our home cooked traditional Cuban cuisine with a glass of one of our classic Spanish style sangrias or a Cuban mojito.

No Bueno!! Total rip-off. Food was horrible and service was lackluster. I have had good Cuban food before and this was not it. $100 for $10 worth of food.

  • Decline at Sangria's

The menu has changed at Sangria's since I was last there. There is an increased emphasis on Cuban food rather than Spanish. They do still serve paella which is what we went there expecting to order. Sadly, the black squid ink seafood paella is no more. The current seafood version was not particularly exciting—there was a heavy emphasis on chopped garlic out of a jar. It was also fairly oily which is surprising since shrimp and mussels are not the oiliest of products. I'm all for fat, particularly if it comes from a pig or a chicken but in this case it just seemed gratuitous.

  • A great evening out!

A great place for an evening out or special occasion. The atmosphere is cozy, the food authentic and reasonably priced and a great selection of wine. The paella is worth the wait, comes in vegetable, meat, or seafood option, and is a generous portion made for sharing. The portions are priced for a two person minimum; however, enough food for four people to share especially if you are having the tapas first.

The food was ok, I've seen larger selections at other tapas restaurants. The ambience was nice, I like an urban style & decor. The restaurant is located on Market Square downtown so a weekend visit will not only expose you to the dining crowd but also shoppers and concert goers.

The food is great although a few more choices in tapas would make it easier for frequent return trips. Nice mid priced wines but again a few more particularly on the top end would improve things. Very very nice and skilled waitresses and servers and hostess.

My new favorite restaurant! Completely satisfied my craving for Spanish cuisine...especially the tapas. With each bite, the aromas and memories of Spain came rushing back in a warm welcoming wave of spices, textures, and flavors. The tapas are authentic and the jamon serrano and manchego platters are incredible, especially together. I cannot wait to return to try more dishes, such as the paella, chorizo, and black rice. The space is cozy, small and intimate, which is a reflection of a real Spanish tapas bar. It was undergoing renovations but shows great potential. Owners and staff are warm, inviting, and genuinely care about their customer's experience.

The food was spectacular, especially the potatoes and the lamb chops. The kitchen was having a hard time getting the orders out in the right sequence and timely, but otherwise everything was great. The waiter was friendly and the owner came around and talked. It was Valentine's Day and by the time we were finished the place was packed. When we sat down there were only two or three other tables taken. The problems in the kitchen may have been related to so many coming at once. Anyway, I want to emphasize that the food was outstanding and my wife and I plan to return soon.

Sangria's would normally get a 4 or 5 star review from us, however this trip resulted in a poor atmosphere because they began renovations and opened before finishing them. In a few weeks it will hopefully be back and better than ever. Notable issues: limited seating due to 4 booths lacking tables, no hostess, only 2 servers trying to keep up, and walls still under construction.

This restaurant was perfect to celebrate my wonderful girlfriend's birthday. The food was excellent. The dining is unique to other restaurants. The meals are meant to be for a group of 2 or more not just for one person. So this is perfect for a date night cause you share food with each other while having a glass of wine.

  • Tapas on Market Square in Knoxville
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011
    Dined on 10/15/2011
The tapas were very well prepared and flavorful. We had the combination tapas dish called El Madrid for $52. The quality was excellent and plenty of food for two. The price is a bit on the premium side, but fair for the amount and variety included. Our main complaint was the price of the wine. We had a passable tempranillo for $32/bottle. A fair price would have been in the $22-24 range. But, there were not any choices in this price range. Given the wide variety of decent quality Spanish wines available in the market at good prices, there should have been more choices at the lower end. They could spend more effort finding decent wines that are in the $10-12 range wholesale and could still mark them up to $24.

We have visited Spain on many occasions and love tapas. We were really looking forward to our meal. The reception was very nice, and ur waiter was quick to inform us of which wines they were out of. I selected a wine and we ordered three tapas to start - calamari, shrim in garlic, and a Spanish tortilla. All three were delivered and all three were inedible. The shrimp was tough and covered in smoked paprika obviously overcooked and dreadful. The calamari were under-seasoned, under cooked and tasteless and the tortilla was almost all egg and very little potatow, but the wine was nice. We called the waiter over and asked for our check. He asked if something was wrong and we said it wasn't at all what we expected and he said okay and b

Celebrated my birthday on an evening that had jazz concert in Market Square. The food was fair, but very overpriced. The "La Madrid" for $50 had a sample of tapas and at least three were inexpensive carbs (e.g., potatoes, rice, garbanzo beans). Service was excellent.

We were a group of 6 - and it was the first time to Sangria's for all of us. We REALLY enjoyed the outdoor seating - it made for a very enjoyable evening. But we all agreed the food was only fair and overpriced for the quality. The paella was a bit pricey which would have been ok with us if it was great paella - but sadly it was too salty and did not have the traditional crunchy bottom. Overall we enjoyed the evening and might return for drinks outside but would probably not eat there again.

We chose a variety of Tapa's to share amongst our group. Most of them were pretty good...potatoes were great, don't recommend the fries, steak and calamari were great, fried artichokes were excellent ~ service was fair but the placement of tables needed some work b/c they were crammed together. Overall, the atmosphere was great for a girl's outing!

Sagria's offers a different menu (tapas) than most restaurants. While the dishes are small, you can easily feed 4 people for $50 (+drinks). The lamb chops in balsamic reduction are WONDERFUL. Sangria's has added three pre-chosen menus for $40-$60 depending on how much food you want; this allows you to try a variety of dishes. Highly recommended. And I'm a fan of white sangria, and they have a very nice one.

Really terrific tapas...would rate the food as the best part of the whole experience....service could have been better...how many times do you have to ask for a serving spoon to be brought as a dish is presented (I think we asked on 3 different occasions and finally gave up). The wine list really needs some significant work. Spain is one of the greatest regions for wine on earth and also one of the best for great value. The list doesn't reflect this at all. The tempranillo offered doesn't reflect the excellence of this varietal, and monastrell, mencia and garnacha are wholly absent from the list.
