Everything we ate or drank was excellent (3 kinds of tapas--pork, eggplant and scallops, paella, sangria, flan). The eggplant was the weakest dish, but still very tasty, if a bit bland. The service was appropriately friendly . At times, we needed to seek our waiter's attention, but this wasn't a deterrent to our wonderful meal in any way. We ate outside on the lovely backyard patio. The dining room looked fairly non-descript. They were very responsive about getting us out in time for our theater curtain and were kind enough to refrigerate our left-overs and let us pick them up after the show. Would eat here again without question and would highly recommend it. Terrific Spanish food in the Theater District.

Tried to have dinner there on 10/18/2014. Had a reservation for 630pm, we were a bit early and seated promptly at 620pm. We had show tickets for 8pm and told our server this when we ordered. We ordered some basic things, it took 45 minutes to get some mushroom and empanada apps. Our waiter was nice trying to push the kitchen to speed things up. At 735PM still no main courses...the waiter tried once again and finally we had to leave without getting our food. Should it really take this long to get main courses, does the kitchen not know that 90% of people being served around this time have show tickets? Needless to say, not impressed with service offered...packed restaurant with countless tables scrambling to stuff in food quickly.

I decided to bring my fiancee to this restaurant because we did not want a large meal since we were on our way to a Broadway show. Our reservation was for 6:30. We arrived at 6:20pm to let them know we were here and we'd wait. They seated us at 6:46PM. While seated, we were handed a menu and water almost immediately, and then they took our order at 7:10pm. We just ordered the Jalapeno poppers, stuffed yuka bites, and some tiny veggie dish. We didn't get our food until 15 of 8 , and it was cold! When the food arrived, I asked for the check so we can rush out since we had a show to catch. That took a while too. All in all, I do not think I would like to return here. Many other people seated too were complaining about the waits they had.

We got to the restaurant early and were seated right away. Service was a little slow when we arrived even though the outdoor dining area was really the only thing full at that point. It seemed they were caught short staffed since it took a while to get drink orders in and to get the waiter's attention for additional drinks throughout the meal. Shortly after arriving the place was hopping and that is really when we felt the lack of attention. The food was good but if you like chorizo you have to get the chorizo tapas. That was excellent. We got paella and arroz con pollo for dinner but they were not as flavorful as I was hoping. Still good - not great- but not an expensive meal so I'd give them another try in hopes it was just a bad night.

We went for a 6pm reservation. Got Sangria by 6.15. Got chips and a kind of salsa. Ordered from the pre-fixe. waited and waited and waited. Nothing arrived and because we had theatre tickets we left at 7.25 after two appetizers had just arrived, one cold the other burnt! The waiter just said they were "busy"!! Also it's so noisy you have to yell at each other to be heard. Never again.

We were waited on quickly, the pitcher of Sangria arrived quickly and then nothing. 40 minutes from the time we sat down I had to go find our waiter to ask where our tapas were. One person had ordered a tapa as well as a main entree and did not want both coming out at the same time. Received a bit of a song and dance but the food started arriving. Nothing great but acceptable, empanadas, shrimp, portobello mushroom stuffed. Sent the quinoa salad back, way too much balsamic. Entree of chicken and risotto however was very good. Waiters were nice. Would not return.

Went for dinner after a broadway matinee. Will definitely go again. Lots of great tapas to choose from. The grilled octopus was especially good, and also the bacon-wrapped dates. Also had beef empanadas, which were very good as well. A small pitcher of sangria (about 3 and a half glasses) is the same price as two glasses, so get the small pitcher if you like sangria.

Had never been to this restaurant before, but would definitely return. We were a group of 6 and we all enjoyed our meals. Some felt the dishes they had were a bit too spicy. But, overall we had a great time and found the menu choices interesting and different from our usual fare. We were pre-theater and the wait staff understood our needs. In fact, our waiter was quite entertaining. It was a beautiful day so we were able to sit outside in the garden with grapevines overhead. I recommend this restaurant highly!

Working hard January thru September, myself and six other lady friends decided we needed to play hard! Girls night out was our mission. We wanted to paint the city red and add some silver and gold glitter!!! One girlfriend visited before and raved about the sangria's and appetizers. We were not disappointed! The dinner and staff are now part of the rave! Daniele and Marisio made the night extra special! Super attentive and catering. The beautiful lady (did not get her name) manager or hostess was also attentive and made sure we had a great time. I wish we were there now!!! We felt like family! Safe and clean environment! We left full of great good, drinks and laughs!!! Loved it! Sangria 46 was the best part of our special night!!!

Mid-week Girls' Night Out and it was great; don't be deceived by the exterior view from the street- this place is huge with a nice, warm feel and even outdoor garden seating in the back! It wasn't overcrowded, would be great for a large group or for a cozy date. Of course, the most important thing - the Sangrias were great - esp. the strawberry & peach cava - whhaaaaaaaaat?!?!?! We had tapas - I liked the chicken empanadas (a bit on the dry side but flavorful nonetheless), croquetas de yuca with codfish and bacon-wrapped dates. The bartender Mauricio is a dream - in fact everyone was uber friendly and helpful. We weren't rushed at all (were there for almost five hours (!)) And reasonable prices to boot. I can't wait to go back!

Food and ambience were great. Service was poor. Server came 3 times to ask a question about drink preference; took no notes of our order. Was very slow in getting our food despite our telling her we had a show to see. Paid cash since I knew the process to use my credit card would be forever. I have dined at SANGRIA 46 on 2 different occasions. Last January I was in the city for a concert. It was freezing cold. I stopped in with a girl friend for a glass of Sangria and some warmth. We spent 3 hours there chatting the bartender and enjoying the delicious TAPAs selections. It was an intimate and quaint experience. This past sunday I returned to celebrate my birthday. We were a party of 5. We sat outside. No street noise was audible. Our waiter was delightful (we joked about taking him home!!) The service was great and the food, again delicious. I plan on returning again and again.

Celebrated our birthdays with a delicacy of tapas - the dates wrapped in bacon were like candy, the Gambas in sauteed in ajioli were tender and although spicy (not a hot spice person) couldn't resist and ate half a dozen and of course had to have their empanada (beef, sausage). The Mango Sangria with white wine was a refreshing summer drink and compliment to the tastings. Dined in the garden where I found it less noisy since the restaurant was filled, although we had to put up with the A/C motor noise for those who dined inside.

From the outside, Sangria 46 doesn't look very appealing, but don't let that stop you from entering! This is a lovely little restaurant, with a surprisingly good $30 prix fixe menu. My husband & I sat in the outdoor garden in the back. Our waiter, Valentino, was attentive, informative and so pleasant. The sangria was some of the best we've had in NY & there are many different types and sizes of pitchers to choose from! It wasn't sweet, as sangria can sometimes be. We ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and chorizo & onions appetizers. Both delicious! Our entrees were the perfectly cooked skirt steak and the shrimp with garlic and olive oil. I'd have liked more garlic, bu the shrimp were tasty. Warm apple tart for dessert & a shot on the house!

Don't miss this terrific place on Restaurant Row. Quiet, small restaurant with lovely outdoor seating. Unfortunately it was too hot the day we were there so we chose an inside table. Our waiter was wonderful. Very sweet and knowledgeable. Our water glasses were always full. You can't beat the $22 prix fixe menu which includes a glass of house wine or sangria. Of course we ordered the red sangria which was delicious. We had the gazpacho, mushrooms with crabmeat stuffing, arroz con pollo and another chicken and shrimp dish with rice, plantains and avocado. For dessert, we ordered apple pie and ice cream. Perfect choice for pre-theatre. We had plenty of time to make our matinee. Will definitely be back!!

The tapas concept of dining offers the chance to sample various menu items, without committing to just one selection. Sangria 46 was perfect! We hadn't known to request a table on the rear outdoor patio (which is lovely- adorned with murals & hanging vines), & were seated just on the cusp of indoor/outdoor at a perfect table next to the open French doors. The best of both worlds! We wanted to partake in what is obviously the restaurant's specialty- the sangria. The waiter suggested the strawberry-peach variety, with sparkling white wine. It was great! We shared 5 tapas & enjoyed all but the garlic shrimp. YES to the chips/salsa, meatballs, chorizitos, empanadas, & puff pastry w/crabmeat. Good timing to catch our show. Charming hostess!

It's obvious why the restaurant is named Sangria 46. There are plenty of choices on the menu, but the kitchen uses a lot of oil in their preparation. What was disappointing is that we had to ask them to make one of our tapas, hot (temperature wise). I've never been served "just warm" food before. The second attempt at the temperature, wasn't much better than the first. Because of the Sangria and menu variety, the restaurant is worth going to, once.

We loved the food. We ordered small plates (5 plates for 2 of us). All were very good. The portions were big and the price was not. The red Sangria was very good too. We sat outside where it was much quieter than the inside seating. Also, we got to Sangria 46 1 and a half hours before our show. We were served very quickly and made it to the show in plenty of time.

We ordered a pitcher of sangria and 4 tapas dishes. More than enough food and it was very good. Wife liked asparagus with garlic in a cheese sauce and I had grilled calamari with red peppers (hot). The other 2 dishes were also great. As was the sangria. There was actually liquor in it. Not formal and great service. Definitely a recommendation and a repeat visit.
