We arrived on a rainy night half an hour late, but were warmly received. Wait staff was gracious, and made sure we made it to curtain on time. Best dish of the evening was the lamb chops. Also enjoyed the Vegetales Salteados and 3 more dishes. We'll definitely be back to taste other dishes and sit in the garden.

Food and ambience were great. Service was poor. Server came 3 times to ask a question about drink preference; took no notes of our order. Was very slow in getting our food despite our telling her we had a show to see. Paid cash since I knew the process to use my credit card would be forever. Had to request utensils for our entrée since it was removed when our appetizer plates were taken away. If you are not in any hurry, this is the place for delicious food!

I have dined at SANGRIA 46 on 2 different occasions. Last January I was in the city for a concert. It was freezing cold. I stopped in with a girl friend for a glass of Sangria and some warmth. We spent 3 hours there chatting the bartender and enjoying the delicious TAPAs selections. It was an intimate and quaint experience. This past sunday I returned to celebrate my birthday. We were a party of 5. We sat outside. No street noise was audible. Our waiter was delightful (we joked about taking him home!!) The service was great and the food, again delicious. I plan on returning again and again.

I've been going to Sangria 46 for years. Each and every time ... it's a great experience. I've told many friends (both out of towners and natives) to check out Sangria 46 and they are always always pleasantly surprised. This time I took 3 friends who had never been and they were all happy. There are so many tapas to choose from - we wanted to try them all. The food is delicious!!! We had the raspberry lemoncello sangria and it was very good!!! Service is amazing!! You must experience Sangria 46!!

Celebrated our birthdays with a delicacy of tapas - the dates wrapped in bacon were like candy, the Gambas in sauteed in ajioli were tender and although spicy (not a hot spice person) couldn't resist and ate half a dozen and of course had to have their empanada (beef, sausage). The Mango Sangria with white wine was a refreshing summer drink and compliment to the tastings. Dined in the garden where I found it less noisy since the restaurant was filled, although we had to put up with the A/C motor noise for those who dined inside.

From the outside, Sangria 46 doesn't look very appealing, but don't let that stop you from entering! This is a lovely little restaurant, with a surprisingly good $30 prix fixe menu. My husband & I sat in the outdoor garden in the back. Our waiter, Valentino, was attentive, informative and so pleasant. The sangria was some of the best we've had in NY & there are many different types and sizes of pitchers to choose from! It wasn't sweet, as sangria can sometimes be. We ordered crab stuffed mushrooms and chorizo & onions appetizers. Both delicious! Our entrees were the perfectly cooked skirt steak and the shrimp with garlic and olive oil. I'd have liked more garlic, bu the shrimp were tasty. Warm apple tart for dessert & a shot on the house!

This past Sunday was the 10th or 11th time my family has had dinner at Sangria 46. This visit we had first gone to a METS game, took the 7 train to Times Square and walked to the Restaurant. My sister and her husband were visiting from Ohio. This is one of the few places that I can bring guests and always know the food and Sangria will be terrific.

Don't miss this terrific place on Restaurant Row. Quiet, small restaurant with lovely outdoor seating. Unfortunately it was too hot the day we were there so we chose an inside table. Our waiter was wonderful. Very sweet and knowledgeable. Our water glasses were always full. You can't beat the $22 prix fixe menu which includes a glass of house wine or sangria. Of course we ordered the red sangria which was delicious. We had the gazpacho, mushrooms with crabmeat stuffing, arroz con pollo and another chicken and shrimp dish with rice, plantains and avocado. For dessert, we ordered apple pie and ice cream. Perfect choice for pre-theatre. We had plenty of time to make our matinee. Will definitely be back!!

The tapas concept of dining offers the chance to sample various menu items, without committing to just one selection. Sangria 46 was perfect! We hadn't known to request a table on the rear outdoor patio (which is lovely- adorned with murals & hanging vines), & were seated just on the cusp of indoor/outdoor at a perfect table next to the open French doors. The best of both worlds! We wanted to partake in what is obviously the restaurant's specialty- the sangria. The waiter suggested the strawberry-peach variety, with sparkling white wine. It was great! We shared 5 tapas & enjoyed all but the garlic shrimp. YES to the chips/salsa, meatballs, chorizitos, empanadas, & puff pastry w/crabmeat. Good timing to catch our show. Charming hostess!

It's obvious why the restaurant is named Sangria 46. There are plenty of choices on the menu, but the kitchen uses a lot of oil in their preparation. What was disappointing is that we had to ask them to make one of our tapas, hot (temperature wise). I've never been served "just warm" food before. The second attempt at the temperature, wasn't much better than the first. Because of the Sangria and menu variety, the restaurant is worth going to, once.

We loved the food. We ordered small plates (5 plates for 2 of us). All were very good. The portions were big and the price was not. The red Sangria was very good too. We sat outside where it was much quieter than the inside seating. Also, we got to Sangria 46 1 and a half hours before our show. We were served very quickly and made it to the show in plenty of time.

We ordered a pitcher of sangria and 4 tapas dishes. More than enough food and it was very good. Wife liked asparagus with garlic in a cheese sauce and I had grilled calamari with red peppers (hot). The other 2 dishes were also great. As was the sangria. There was actually liquor in it. Not formal and great service. Definitely a recommendation and a repeat visit.

Restaurant has an extensive tapas menu, 3 of the 4 tapas were the size of a large appetizer. Definitely good value for the money, but the food was just fair. They had various flavors of sangria which was refreshing. Given the frenetic pace of the theater district, this was is a oasis, dining al fresco on the back patio.

Four of us dined and no one had a particularly good meal. Empenada appetizer was not crisp and was bland and had little filling inside. Entree of Shrimp a la Plancha was okay at best. Side dish of rice had hard grains of rice in it. Either uncooked or more likely burnt. Paella was nothing special. The only reason to go here is because the prices are reasonable for the food and wine. For me it is not enough of a reason to go back. Service was fine.

While neither the food nor service was great, both were satisfactory. The tapas were tasty, but the paella was bland. The gazpacho was fresh but lacked the zing that should be in such a dish. Many servers came to pour the Sangria, but when we wanted something the dining floor was deserted.

Fixed price lunch seemed like the best deal but when my husband's mussels came out only 5 of them were actually edible because the other 10 were not even open. Never saw that in my experience in any restaurant...except maybe one out of an order. Sent them back and we were brought grilled garlic shrimp, which was good as was the stuffed mushrooms. Had better experience with the entrees- Sole Limon was tender and delicious. Shrimp and chorizo with rice was served with grilled plantains and was also quite good. Flan was pretty good for the dessert. Service was fine-we sat outside in the back and there were not many diners for this Saturday lunch pre theater time so it was not too loud at all..but hard to judge that based on limited experience.

Hands down they got the best sangrias in NYC! Delicious food but the service is the worst! I been here on two separate occasions and the first time they seemed really busy and understaffed so I gave them a pass and came back with a group of 12. This time it was very slow and the service was still terrible staff is nice but not attentive at all. They left us there for a long time before taking our order or even giving us menues. If the food and drinks weren't as good as they are I would never come back again.

Went here with our kids before heading home. We found the restaurant decor and ambience was nothing to write home about and the food, although fresh seemed to be just a collection of the base ingredients on a plate. Sauces and interesting garnishes, etc were lacking. Worth noting we had the tapas menu. Albondigas were notable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

I went with 2 friends to Sangria 46 before a broadway show. While the restaurant is small, it has a very nice outdoor garden in the back. There is a very good menu with lots of variety. The service was attentive and got us out on time without being rushed. We will definitely be back.

We went for a pre-theater lunch. I ordered from the prix-fixe menu. My entree of shrimp with green sauce was not green and did not have the rich parsley and garlic flavor I was looking for. Another in our party ordered a rice with calamari and shrimp. The rice was tasteless and both the shrimp and calamari had a rubbery texture. The sangria was nothing special. When we did complain about the rice dish, it was taken off the bill. I was looking forward to authentic spanish food and this did not meet my expectations.

One has no right to expect, in the crowded theatre district, a spot with such good food, absurdly low prices (especially their prix fixe menu, which is Extensive), attentive service, and Room to Move. The latter really distinguishes this place among others I sometimes go to for pre-theatre meals. Especially on the patio in back, one is not elbow to elbow with the next table, and that is a luxury one does not usually experience in this neighborhood. Oh... and the Portions are Huge-- not necessarily a selling point, I know... but ordered a mussels diablo appetizer, and it was large enough for a meal. Alas, I had already ordered a complete 3 course lunch, and thoroughly enjoyed also the sole limon and the flan. Burp!

We had a very nice meal here. The waiter was very personable, the manager (or maybe owner?) came by and checked on us to make sure everything was good. I was somewhat disappointed to find coconut shrimp on a Spanish tapas menu. Great service, sangria was very good but no better than what I make at home, food was good but we've had better tapas. The paella was fresh and tasty but the waiter didn't mention it would take 35 minutes to make until we asked what was taking so long (we had show tickets). There was only one piece of chicken but it was very good and plenty of seafood which tasted very good. The empanadas tasted good too but nothing special. We expected them to be somewhat spicier. Crab stuffed mushrooms were the best thing we ordered. Overall a good place, especially for multiple couples or groups.

Outdoor seating was real nice, great Sangria but my wife's skirt steak ordered med-rare came out well done. Waited for new piece & it came 15 minutes later very rare and not a good cut this time. They tried to re-cook it but now too well done again so she had to order something else. You'd think a NYC restaurant would get this right especially at lunch with no crowd and no pressure. My dish, shrimp, sausage and rice with plantains was excellent.

Came here based on the recommendation for sangria. While the drinks were pretty decent, it's a lively after work kind of place, which I didn't expect, so the noise level was much higher than expected. The food was OK, but not all was hot when it arrived and we had to ask for one dish twice. Overall, it's OK, but generally not impressive.
