Sandrine'sOur favorite place in CambridgeRecently went for our anniversary dinner. Took our kids too because they are foodies but not everyone's kids like escargot . Always have a great experience at Sandrine's.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMNice dinner out. Very goodNice dinner out. Very good service and quality food - not overpriced. Had a nice vibe but not too loud. Felt intimate yet social - a great way to celebrate a wedding anniversary but without too much fuss and no pretense. Would definitely consider returning.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMBusy FrenchTaste-wise, food was outstanding. It's just that there was so much of it, and the presentation was quite crowded (I had a monkfish special.) Many of the dishes had very busy toppings. The mango sorbet was a bit off, but raspberry, strawberry and peach sorbets were most excellent, as was the lemon pound cake with lemon curd. The restaurant was too cold for what had been a beastly hot day--women in jackets were still rubbing their arms. In a light sweater, I froze. When we asked the waiter if he might see that the air was turned down, he mopped his brow and said "Really?" The air was turned down for a brief period, but back to overly cool towards the end of our stay.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMParis at its best--and worstFood was excellent and reminded me of my last visit to Paris . . . as did the service. It was stereotypically rude, dismissive, and condescending. Dress to impress and mention your tenure at an elite school, or expect something less than stellar (when I did, the service picked up, but too late to salvage a tip).5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBrilliant food, fine French settingSandrine's Bistrot has just become a new favorite spot of ours. A recent Saturday evening found the place packed and happy at the unfashionably early hour of just 6:30. We began by sharing a signature "flammekeuche" -- the Alsacien version of pizza, tissue-thin and delicately crispy, with soft mildly tangy cheese and wonderfully toothsome artichokes. Then, because we both really craved this dish, we both ordered what turned out to be impeccably roasted half chickens -- fragrant, moist, crisp-skinned, exquisite -- accompanied by flawless vegs. Finally, we shared a classic and perfectly executed creme brulee, along with a snifter of Calvados and delicious decaffeinated cappuccino. Five stars all the way. We will return soon, and often!5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMa gemDinner at Sandrine's was the most perfect evening out I've ever had in Cambridge. The service is impeccable and gracious, the food is delicious without having been over-run by inept "foodie" trendiness etc. The menu offers a mix of absolutely authentic specialties from Alsace-Lorraine (and if you are lucky, your waiter will be a native of the region, also fluent in 4 or 5 languages besides English and French) and other elegant, less regional dishes. The wine list is complementary, and also includes a number of regional specialties (a nice cremant, and a not-over-cloying Gewurtztraminer are worth a try). We had the chocolate cherry sundae for dessert, a true sundae, but elevated to Nirvana by brandied cherries and Chantilly creme.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLook no further for good FrenchWas thoroughly impressed by the wait staff and their attentive nature. Food was spectacular especially the escargot and fillet. Get the st. Emilion house wine with any red dish and you will not be dissapointed. Great experience.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMgreat french bistrovery cosy and romantic place. we would have great time with my friends.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's DaytWe went for the Mother's Day menu which featured a few choices from the Alsace area in France. We would have liked to try the Flammenkueche, but it wasn't on the menu this day. It's usually available though.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMHands down the best FrenchHands down the best French bistro in Boston. Very comfortable, special restaurant5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMOpen the door and you are in Paris!I always enjoy going to Sandrines. It is a quietly elegant little gem of a restaurant in the midst of busy Harvard Sq. The staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Terrific menu.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Big Mussels in garlic and wineI ordered this appetizer last time as my main meal. Because they were so delicious, I ordered mussels again this week. Outstanding and I compare them to the best "moules" in Paris. The Sancerre was a full pour and added to the dinner.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant spot with some interestingPleasant spot with some interesting offerings. A bit pricey, but we felt it was worth it.
Two in our party ordered rack of lamb, which was cooked to perfection.
We will definitely be back at Sandrines soon!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA gem in Harvard Square...We had our Easter dinner at Sandrine's and, as always, the food and service were five star.
From the mussels and escargot appetizers, to the lamb and chicken entrees, everything was delicious. Not only is the food exceptional, but the presentation is first class.
We had the Chocolate Kougelhopf for dessert, which is a must for chocolate lovers.
The staff is exceptional. The hostess, Winnie, who warmly greeted us at our arrival and
our server, Sherman, made us feel special before we even ordered. Amy, the general manager, was very helpful with assisting us in picking out the appropriate wine to have with our entrees.
We highly recommend Sandrine's for a romantic dinner as well as a mid-week lunch with friends. You won't be dissapoin3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional Dining ExperienceI usually don't dine at French restaurants due to their notorious small portion sizes and being overpriced, however, Sandrine's was an absolute gem! The portion sizes were generous and it wasn't overpriced. The food was exceptional as was the service. Couldn't have asked for a better dining experience and I definitely plan on returned sometime soon.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Veal T-Bone was a surprisingThe Veal T-Bone was a surprising gem, and the waiter was extremely helpful in pairing a wine.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was very attentive,The staff was very attentive, professional and kind. The meal was excellent, the wait staff was attentive and friendly. The whole experience was just superb. I will recommend Sandrines to all of our family and friends(and we plan on dining there in the future).3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAhh, Sandrine's. It's likeAhh, Sandrine's. It's like visiting an old friend. An old friend who is an amazing cook. You won't find any foams or gels or unfamiliar greens on this menu, but you will find delicious, perfectly prepared classics. The charcuterie plate was delicious and generous, but a bit subtle: I would have enjoyed something with more garlic, or more pepper, or more smoke on the plate for variety. Salad with blue cheese and apple was refreshing and just the right size to complement my meal. The filet was perfect, and the sauce with it was rich but not heavy. The Chocolate Kougelhopf was about the best take on the molten chocolate cake I've encountered, and I appreciate that the menu avoided the cliché description. "Kougelhopf" is more fun to say!3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMI went here with two friendsI went here with two friends for lunch during Boston Restaurant Week. The food and service were excellent. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the dishes. The food came quickly and was delicious. The orange creme brulee was particularly good. It was busy but our meal was not rushed, the courses were coordinated perfectly and we got to order dessert because everything was so nicely paced. The service is always good. The menu is good (but not great for us because we do not eat red meat). Seafood options are very good though. And the deserts are among the best we've found anywhere. We loved the restaurant week prefix menu. And the Art Nouveau ambiance is always a treat.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious food and a veryDelicious food and a very good waiter, attentive and pleasant.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was very politeThe staff was very polite and the maitre d' was particularly pleasant to interact with. The food, however, was mediocre.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMRestaurant WeekI went to Sandrine's for lunch during restaurant week with a coworker. I am a vegetarian and I do not eat eggs. I didn't realize until I arrived that the veg. entree option was a Frittata. I had asked the waiter if there were any other options or if I could just do the 2-course pairing as an appetizer and dessert. He did not think either were possible and double checked; unfortunately they originally said I could not substitute what was on the menu, but our waiter checked again without my asking and they were able to make an exception. I ended up getting a mushroom ravioli dish for my entree, the apple salad for my starter, and a chocolate mousse for desert. I was so grateful they were able to make the exception; everything was delicious!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food, wonderfulExcellent food, wonderful service. Thought the food was fresh, well prepared and of excellent quality. I did not find he menu overall to be all that tempting and there were only a couple of items that interested me. Not sure how often I'd go back due to the limited menu, but the service was quite good and our experience was positive.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMLunch is always a pleasureLunch is always a pleasure at our favorite restaurant for Saturday lunch.
