  • "We have been at this restaurant, plus the one in Garrison Woods, numerous times and the food has always been great. We had out of country guests staying with us and they wanted to try some Italian food. What a mistake at this MacKenzie Towne location. It was a pizza night so we ordered four different pizzas, none good. CANNED mushrooms were used on the mushroom pizza, ugh... Crust burnt on another. Very little pepperoni on another. Prosciutto just placed across the top of another after the pizza had been cut. We were totally embarrassed to have taken our guests there. So sad that a once good restaurant has gone so downhill with the food quality. Thank goodness the wait staff were nice.."

  • "I wanted to take my friends for lunch and had seen that San Remo was open and so we went there and had a lovely time. The food was excellent, service friendly and ambiance perfect for us to have a nice long visit! I'll go back with my husband next time! :)"

  • "We loved our meals. the Carbonara Pasta, the short rib open faced sandwich and the Sausage Spaghetti. The did not lack at all in flavour or portions. Don't eat there if you are in a hurray. The food takes a bit longer but is well worth it for its fresh and delicious qualities."

  • "We went with 3 children and 3 adults. The restaurant is nice, good layout and Ambience. We ordered our food, however it took 1.15 hrs to come to our table, and with that the it was slightly burnt. It was good enough to eat however. The server was so nice and sweet and apologized for the delay, but when you have to entertain 3 children for 1.15 hrs while they wait for their food kind of spoils your dinner."

  • "We saw some negative reviews, but booked anyways. We both had pasta and each dish was very large. I had to stretch a bit when I came home! Our server was Isabella and she was great. If you are looking for fast food, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a great supper in about 1.5-2 hours, this place is great."

  • "We were a group of 6 with 5 adults and one child. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. Italian bread with hummus was a great touch to start. The only complaint was the Caprese Salad was just cut up wedges of tomatoes and chunks of mozzarella, it did not live up to other Caprese salads at other restaurants. You cannot beat the $10/pasta (Sundays/Mondays) deal and the fish, short ribs were all well received at the table. We could see ourselves going more often for their pasta specials."

  • "Lovely new menu for lunch. Patio was offered immediately as an option on a warm May noon hour date. The waitress proactively split our entree sized salad onto two plates in the kitchen when we mentioned "sharing" the arugala beet salad. There was no fussing with that at the table - thoughtful. The pepperoni mushroom pizza so tasty and filling, the crust was crisp and delicious but you could still pick it up in a this casual venue without the toppings falling off! We again shared a flourless chocolate cake with a scoop of chocolate sorbet was added at the last minute. After the flavour filled meal, we knew it would be delectable! It was a generous size but we managed to finish! Waitress mentioned a new dinner menu coming out.Can't wait."

  • "We have been several times and always have an amazing time. This was the first time in several visits that we were at all disappointed with our service. We were not sure if they were understaffed but after we got our wine it took our waitress 38 mins to come back and take our food order. We eventually grabbed the hostess to send our waitress our way. After our order was taken the rest of the night was amazing. Food was spectacular, and the server was attentive moving forward. "

  • "We visit San Remo on a regular basis but this was the first time we tried Pizza & Pint Night. What a great combination. As usual the food was amazing. Love the authentic Italian pizza with so many unique toppings to choose from. Too much for one person to eat at one sitting but was great as a left over at home the next night! This was my first taste of Italian beer and I enjoyed it. I am not a beer lover so was hesitant to try but very happy with the risk. Will be back to partake in Thursday night again soon."

  • "Went for our fourth anniversary the other night to San Remo in Mckenzie Towne on a casual recommendation by a friend who heard it was a nice place. Word of mouth is indeed true about this place. Nice warm atmosphere, with that Italian restaurant vibe of laughter and patrons chatting. I ordered the special, Blue Marlin - while my fiancé ordered the spaghetti bolognese. We ordered the poutine gnocchi as a starter. The poutine was anything but poutine, but equally delicious. A mound of potatoe dumplings with some red wine sauce, and greens. Delicious - a 5 star appy anywhere. Both main dishes were cooked to perfection! Nice to dine at an establishment who hand makes their sauces and meatballs! A+ Restaurant!!! Great place, great service."

  • "Been to this restaurant off and on for a few years. It's good, but nothing to write home about. Pizza's are appetizing as they are made in a pizza oven, the atmosphere is nice and the service is good. The daily dining special is a nice option. As for the restaurant menu, there is not a large variety of pasta dishes and not much in terms of seafood ie, prawns, shrimp, scallops, clams. What really surprised me was when asked if we wanted freshly ground pepper and parmeson cheese, the waitress brought over a shaker with dry, artificial, no flavor, Kraft, buy at the grocery store packaged cheese. Don't most good Italian restaurants give you freshly shaved parmeson cheese with your meal?"

  • "We ate at San Remo last year on my husband's birthday and he asked to go again this year. 4 adult, two sons, who have good appetites and are as selective as I am about food and service. We shared an appetizer, that was delicious, Shrimp dish?) and the waitress recommended that we dip the bread in the sauce. She was right it was yummy. 3 had pasta and 1 boys had pizza. All were great, portions were generous. I would have liked to know that it was $10 pasta night. While it was probably the most reasonable birthday dinner we have ever had, I would have liked to have the regular menu to choose from. This is what brought us back. We mentioned that it was a birthday celebration and it would have been a nice touch if that had been acknowledged"

  • "Made reservation nine days in advance for dinner. Arrived on time for reservation. Was not seated in the dining room, but was put in lounge under air conditioning outlet. Froze and meal was cooled off by a/c draft. Asked to have air mover turned down several times. Each time the air mover was turned down, someone turned it up again. Really spoiled the evening."

  • "We found the service excellent and the food to be just alright. We both had the Valentines Day Striploin Special. While the presentation was wonderful, the salad lacked flavour. The Striploin looked better than it tasted, relying heavily on the chipotle risotto it was smothered in for taste. By Alberta standards, not a very good steak. In contrast, the torte we had for dessert was delicious."

  • "My wife and I dined At San Remo for Valentines Day. The service was excellent we were taken to our table right away when we arrived a quiet table for 2 it was perfect. They offered a Valentine menu, but we opted for the regular menu, we started with the mushrooms very tasty but a little disappointing I was expecting whole button mushrooms. My wife ordered the duck it was excellent done to perfection. I ordered the lamb medium rare it was tender and cooked to perfection. Dessert was excellent don't remember the names. A very enjoyable evening."

  • "I wasn't aware that the restaurant had a kind of sports bar on one side and dining area on the other. Having booked through Open Table for Valentine's dinner, I would have expected that the restaurant/Open Table would have given us a table on the dining side. Fortunately, the ambience on the sports side wasn't loud and raucous as most people there seemed to be there for the same reason we were. I checked off YES to the recommendation question, but with a service and ambience caveat. Service failures included an overworked and underwhelming greeting agent at the door. Lack of attention to detail - not removing wine glasses from the table for those not drinking wine, confusion on delivery of services, uninterested waitress etc. etc."
