A word from Sam's
Sam"s is not about reinventing the wheel. It's more about finding four wheels that we wanted to drive around the Boston Waterfront. The local bounty of New England's farms and artisans; the simplicity of an American Diner; the endless and timeless appeal of the French Bistro menu; and the warmth and welcoming spirit of our home.

Located above Louis Boston on Fan Pier, Sam's is a 45 seat restaurant that offers stunning views of the Boston skyline and waterfront.

We are conveniently located next to the ICA and Boston Courthouse, and a short walk to the Boston Convention Center, World Trade Center, and Bank of America Pavilion.

During the warmer months, seating is available on our 80 seat patio. Reservations are only offered for the inside dining room, but please feel free to call about our wait times for outdoor seating.

Diner Reviews
  • "Great food and service, very nice view. The only disappointing thing is they dont have draft beer. The wine list is notable though!"

  • "Excellent food and drinks. Good price, not as expensive as you think."

  • "Eclectic menu. In the past I went more for the view than the food. This time the food nearly surpassed the view. The artichoke appetizer compares most favorably to the artichokes I had in California....during artichoke season. I had the chicken on spinach reduction. It was simply perfect. Very filling portion of moist chicken with mouth satisfying vegetables. I as did my three companions felt it was a perfect food and ambiance experience. Thank you."

  • "I love Sam's, and it's fast becoming a favorite amongst friends, too. The people who work there are great. They know their food and wine and are unpretentious. The chef is great, and is willing to make accommodations for allergies as well. The space is airy and bright, and overlooks the harbor."

  • "Just a handful of tables so no matter where you sit you can see the beautiful views of Boston. Mediocre wines by the glass. Good vibes."

  • "A friend from Ireland was visiting, and I took her to Sam's because it has the best view in Boston. We had not seen each other in years, so had lots to talk about. We lingered after our meal and coffee, and the staff did not rush us. We were the last to leave! We so appreciated this."

  • "Sam's is a great find, tucked away along the Harbor. The food is creative, well presented with ample portions; matches any five star in Boston but nothing can beat the view! Wait staff are friendly, responsive but not intrusive. A small restaurant, you won't struggle to hear your dining party above a din. Sam's earns a place on our "Must Return" list!"

  • "Everything was great, from food to service to atmosphere. Would highly recommend!"

  • "This is without a doubt our favorite restaurant in Boston and one of our top 5 anywhere. Great hospitality and service along with a creative, seasonal menu and fabulous food is all you need to know. The decor is simple, but modern and sleek. The view is to die for and we always enjoy ourselves."

  • "One of my favorite spots in Boston. Always have a great meal, great service, great ambiance and amazing view of the harbor, skyline and sunset."

  • "It is great place to host my friends from New York, who is an outstanding artist. It is a very modest, clean, and modern yet low-key environment to talk and having a brunch with friends. I love the ambience and the food. Impressively fresh and great taste."

  • "We could not have enjoyed our lunch more. The space is gorgeous - and I'm talking not just about the breathtaking views, but the room itself. I know of few restaurants in which every design detail feels so right. The food was absolutely top notch - best lobster risotto ever. And the service was pitch-perfect, both at the bar (where we had a drink beforehand) and throughout our meal. Bottom line: Sam's at Louis is our new favorite spot in Boston. We'll be back."

  • "The overall Sam experience is outstanding. No pretentious attitude; welcoming and friendly. Quality of food always consistent. Did not love the late Winter Menu selections. One or 2 more "less daring" appetizers and entrees would be nice although I understand this is not typically Sam's style! Thank-you !"

  • "After researching restaurants within a short distance from Boston's Seaport World Trade Center, my friend and I decided on Sam's. We loved the harbor view and the menu ...while not extensive...was unique and delicious. The greens were fresh and the bread was hearty and must have been homemade. Since Sam's is not a large restaurant , the noise level is perfect for conversation. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I can't wait to dine there again!"

  • "Love the bartenders and drinks, love the eclectic food and the bread is amazing. The space is beautiful and views even better (minus the construction). Love this gem."

  • "Sam's still has great views and good food and service, but what made it awesome was that they also had free parking. You could head over for a meal or a drink on a whim and just park and walk in. No more. Now they want $16 to pay a valet to park your car feet from the door."

  • "Every dish we had was a bit too salty. The atmosphere is outstanding. The service above average. Much better option when there were more parking options. Great live music!"

  • "lovely evening with great food, nice view, and good service.....and a great table!! will definately go back soon.....since it was 20 degrees out, no outdoor dining...but this restaurant is great in the summer as we have been for cocktails!"

  • "Sam's is a small gem. Conveniently located near the ICA and ample parking, Sam's offers a solid menu of healthy, well-prepared food. The restaurant offers a spectacular view of the harbor and downtown in a comfortable, unpretentious manner. The room and the staff are warm and welcoming. Waitstaff are knowledgeable about the menu, attentive without being intrusive, and able to advise and be responsive to specific dietary needs."

  • "This place is great. I go there as often as I can especially with my grandsons. They note it has the best hamburger in town. I love the fact that they take reservations, all the food is good and until recently the the convenient and free parking. Is that perk going to return?"

  • "Celebrating a birthday we started with champagne. Which was warm. We switched to wine thinking this would be better. This was also a little above room temperature. Not acceptable. The food for $19 canned crab over English muffins that had not been toasted or warmed. The lobster dish was the only savior on the table. Our waitress had the hipster laid back mentality which is the trend right now in some of these spots. I understand setting a vibe but train these people so they understand how to Come across professional and not rude. Also proper steps of service especially if you have a $300 bill. She acted like we should be honored she was waiting on us. Overall we will not be back which is a pity because you have such a wonderful setting."

  • "We arrived by water taxi for a birthday dinner. Friendly, helpful staff. Attentive but not overbearing. Excellent cocktails and wine list. All house made ingredients in their cocktails- no artificial mixes. Food was wonderful. Cooked just right. Quinoa and beet salad was cooked just right. Kale dish was delicious. As a vegetarian there were plenty of choices. My husband had steak. - good size and very good. Sticky toffee bread pudding for dessert was a light version of the British staple and simply excellent. Bread served before the meal had just the right amount of crispy and soft. Oysters were plump and tasted just like the ocean. Highly recommend Sam's. We will be back."

  • "One of the finest dining experiences we have ever had in Boston. The staff was outstanding, food perfect, and the harbor location very special. The manager was especially helpful in encouraging us to try some new apertifs, and we enjoyed a very interesting conversation with him and our waiter (it was a quiet, cold night). The pork was excellent. Worth venturing out to on a cold winter's night!"

  • "Love this spot for the view & the food is good. service was not awesome - we made a reservation, but still had to wait 30+ minutes for our table. Food came really quickly but waitress was not super attentive. Overall still a great spot - probably just an off day."

  • "My Co-workers and I went for a quite lunch to celebrate one of us leaving. the Food was spectacular. I had the Pork Belly BLT and it was just the right amount of food with great texture and amazing flavors.Others had the Short ribs, the burger and the Smoked Char everyone delighted in their meals and we all washed it down with a wonderfully crafted cocktail afterwards. All-in-all I give it a hands down must go!"

  • "I am a regular at SAMs and they outdo themselves every time. The oysters are a deal and served ice cold and always a tasty choice. The menu changes but there is always something for the meat or fish eater. Right now- the hake is a great dish- in a light broth with ham. The char is delicious too. The chicken is a standard as is the burger but always great. Oh- the potato puff app is a good choice too. The wine list is superb- ask for a suggestion and John gives you a great story and choices. It is always crazy busy in the summer but it is also a great spot in the winter. And the live music on Friday is a nice addition. The whole team is friendly, knowledgeable and make the dining experience a good old time..."

  • "Sam's is a good, small lunch spot on the waterfront.....good food, good service, good views. The drawback is the non-stop, intrusive elevator music that significantly impedes conversation, a problem amplified by no apparent effort by the designer of the space to muffle/absorb sound."
    Dined on 12/30/2013
  • "Despite the impending storm, Sam's was full on the Tuesday lunch where we enjoyed our experience. Terrific views highlight the original, local oriented menu. Excellent service (four different folks touched our table) fit well with the solid food. Only drawback is since their free parking lot closed for construction, valet is $10 which is stiff for a lunch."
