  • Catering: Hors d' oeuvres packages start at $15 per person per hour and dinner packages start at $40 per person. Open bar packages start at $25 per person for the first two hours and $7 for each additional hour should you be looking to entertain. Bar packages must be combined with either an hors d' oeuvres package or a dinner package and are not offered on their own.
  • Special Events & Promotions: Sampan is the perfect location for entertaining. Two identical dining rooms flank a central bar for a welcoming feeling with great energy. The restaurant can seat up to 120 for a sit down dinner or in excess of 150 for a social gathering. The outdoor Graffiti Bar can host an additional 75 and is fully heated and open 10 months out of the year. Our event coordinator will work with you personally and all menus are fully customizable.

Normally an experience that bad would remove a restaurant from my favorites list, but I had to give Sampan another try (or two) because the food is so exceptional. I went twice since the 1/28 review and I am glad I did...thank you Sampan for being back in great form. The food has always been exceptional and the service is always as exeptional as the food. Sampan will remain my favorite restaurant in Philadelphia."

  • "I went to Sampan on a Saturday evening - early. When we arrived, nearly half of the tables were empty. They still decided to seat us at the table closest to the door - each time door opened it was quite cold. We moved and placed in the back - much better. Service was painfully slow. It took nearly 30 minutes to get our starters. Once finished eating, it took so long for out plates to be cleared. My husband and daughter actually left, hoping that our server would notice and bring the check. Food was average. I had the kung pao shrimp and lobster & shrimp dumplings. I also tried the pad thai and vegetable fried rice. I'm not sure I'll go back, since there are so many great choices in Philadelphia."

  • "I took my girlfriend there. We loved it. Although the price point was up there the food was worth it especially the appetizers. Next time we are planning to try the Chef's tasting options. Fried rice was too good. Short beef rib was "meh" because the rib tasted like pulled pork. May be its supposed to be that way, but one shouldn't be confused like that when they eat their food haha...however appetizers were spot on! Tune rice crackers and Bao Bun's were the best, tag it with a glass of merlot/pinot, you are good to go. I recommend! The only negative side was the waitress we had. She was way too busy,didn't explain the food to us in a way we understood. It was gibberish to us."

  • "The food was wonderful....creative and wonderfully prepared. Each dish it's own exciting taste. The service was terrible! We had one of those eye rolling, really??, bling wearing waitresses who either didn't want to be there or didn't want to serve us in particular. Also, It was a very cold night and our table was right next to the back exit door .The cold came through every time the door opened. We got the chill from the waitress and from the door! However, given all of that, we would definitely go back for the greatly exciting food...we will just be more aware of servers and wait staff."

  • "If you ask to enjoy a leisurely meal you will discover that your server has no influence on the expediter who will have food sent to your table faster than you can savor a first course. Eventually you must reject the cascade of plates. For that misdemeanor you will be punished by having your food kept warm by continued cooking. Lost will be any sense of the delicious fusion for which the restaurant is known. Back to school with management! As for the sous-chef expediter--beware! His shoveling skills would be better served as snow! As a frequent diner at Sampan, not always using Open Table. I will think twice about recommending Sampan--at least without this adjoiner."

  • "A friend recommended Sampan to us a while back, but we didn't try it out for ourselves until the evening after Valentine's Day. The two of us tried out their tasting menu, and it was magnificent. I loved the small plates we ordered (Pork Bao Bun and Lobster Ceviche). We had their kobe beef satay and the vietnamese filet (sweet potato, chimichurri, and bok choy)... And the best part of the meal for me was the soy glazed Chilean sea bass (with cauliflower puree and long bean salad), yum! The crispy rock shrimp somehow got lost on the way and we had to ask our server about it, but it was a nice addition after the kobe beef fried rice. Cute ice cream samplers as well. Since then, I've been back for their happy hour - also a great deal!"

  • "I can't say enough great things about Sampan. The food is by far the best Asain food I have ever had. We did the Chef's tasting where you get 7 selections from the menu and their soft serve for dessert. Each selection is portioned for your party. We had the shrimp and lobster dumplings, pork bao bun, Korean BBQ beef satay, crab wonton taco, pekin duck, seared tuna and the kim chee fried rice. Each dish was absolutely amazing, with pork bao bun being my personal favorite. I can't wait to go back and try another chef's tasting combination to try some different and sure to be amazing food on their menu. You also get their famous soft serve for dessert....simply the best soft serve ever. It was the perfect way to end a perfect meal."

  • "My husband an I were starving-looking forward to delicious food. Schulson clearly chose the looks of this restaurant over the food. The loud club beat prevented any type of conversation along with the side by side seating. The coed bathrooms were ridiculously full with lines through out dinner. The food was disappointing. We chose the tasting menu. Very expensive and we left hungry. The edamame dumplings were good but there was not enough of them! This was the same for the sea bass, mushroom dumplings, single shrimp, etc. The only thing that was plentiful was the brussel sprouts which were tasty but bathed in oil. The szechuan chicken was also a nice size portion to actually share but was so salty that it was inedible."

  • "This was our first time at Sampan and it was my pick for our group of 6, so I was hoping everyone would enjoy it. Our very competent server, Nate, guided us toward the tasting menu and that turned out to be a great decision. Everything was portioned to share so there was no need to worry about dividing appetizers amongst 6 people, which can be so annoying. Do not miss those Pork Bellies! Or the Sea Bass and the Short Ribs. Everyone loooooved everything. Can't wait to go back!"
