Diner Reviews
  • "I like the Triluessa location in Cat. City better.."
    Dined on 4/8/2014
  • "Salvador, the Mexican chef, although well versed with Italian style cuisine is too heavy with tomato and cream sauces. The mushroom raviolis were swimming in a sea of cream sauce but the filling was tasteless. The tomato sauce with the pasta was made with concentrate and not with fresh tomato. The sea bass (or similar fish) was good and so was the Tiramisu. The ambiance was welcoming and the service good."

  • "A friend and I took another friend to Sammy G's for his birthday. The evening was perfect. I have eaten here several times and I really don't have a bad thing to say about it."

  • "We had a wonderful dinner and sat outside on the patio. Best dishes at our table (of four): caesar salad, mushroom ravioli (everyone loved it), calamari appetizer. Spaghetti and meatballs were good, but not great. There was a band playing at the bar and we danced a bit after dinner. All in all, a fun evening!"

  • "I asked for an outside table on my open table booking and didn't get it. If I would have known I was going to be seated inside there very noisy tables I would not have gone. One of the outside tables remained open for the time I was there. Food was ok, but they needed more servers, they were over whelmed. Will go again but I will need a guarantee on seating!"

  • "We started our evening with a bottle of Italian Red ( Will omit the name). Upon serving I noted a flat, watery turned taste. I asked the waiter, a very attentive, young man,to try it. He immediately agreed and removed the bottle and the glasses. The Mgr. Came over to the table and apologized, and he too agreed the bottle had turned. We proceeded with dinner,Steak Diana, Bacon wrapped prawns all very nicely done. After dinner drinks were complimentary. All being said, not an unpleasant experience."

  • "Very good food and ambience, especially for a little older crowd. Excellent but unobtrusive entertainment. Service is also always excellent."

  • "Delightful evening. Enjoyed the salad and mussels and clam dish - big portions."

  • "Very good food. Attentive service. Great after dinner dancing with live music. A very nice evening spot for a mature crowd. I've visited a couple of times in the past, and will definitely go back."

  • "We had a great time at this restaurant and had wanted to go to it for some time. Our waiter, Bruce, was very congenial and helpful about dishes and didn't rush us at all. We each had a different entre, but shared salads (excellent romaine 'wedge' was best) and fried calamari, which was done just right. Portions were generous and the wait-staff was very attentive and kept water glasses filled. Corkage fee of $20 was okay and there was no problem in bringing our own bottle - which we did because there was no wine list available on the website. Happy to go back here again."

  • "We love to bring friends and out-of-town guests here and they always love it and want to come back as we do! Excellent outdoor dining and excellent food!"

  • "First time to Sammy G and was a very pleasant evening. Would recommend to anyone who loves Italian food."

  • "Try the grilled prawns in garlic sauce for an appetizer - excellent. Also had grilled salmon - very good."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "Lovely ambiance, great music, stellar service - but good grief! Get a chef who can make delicious food. The food is so boring, so mundane, so 'nothing-special'. I mean really - spaghetti with red tomato sauce? Make something (anything) that knocks my socks off. I love eggplant and my eggplant was so bland and boring. Chopped salad was small and had nothing that made it special. This is a perfect restaurant for small children who want boring food. Ugh. And it was so dang great last year!! What the heck happened??"

  • "I noticed that even if you request something on Open Table, they ignore your request. I asked to be away from kids but still those kids where put near your table. Do they listen to your request? I wander. Mr. Ang, a loyal customer to this restaurant."

  • "One of the downtown Palm Springs attractions is the outdoor dining scene. The Tuscan Grill has a great patio, away from the noise and congestion of street and sidewalk. The setting is great, food and service very good. Great vocalist in the background, adding to the ambiance without interfering with ability to converse."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner here. Hubby's Mushroom Marsala Ravioli was WONDERFUL (I tasted). Service was great! Music was nice, not too loud. My Sand Dabs were good but side portion of potatoes was kind of ridiculous…One the size of marble and one the size of small golf ball. Antipasto platter, $18.00, was not enough for 4 people to sample the items. We will give it another try because they DO try and the extra little things they do are nice. Location is a bit hard to find, its tucked back among others. And, when server heard that we had tickets for Follies show, he took the number off them, and brought us a complimentary Tiramisu! We also loved the little biscotti's and champagne he brought to us…..I do highly recommend!"

  • "I chose this restaurant based on its proximity to the Palm Springs Follies Theatre and had lunch there with a friend before an afternoon show. We had a nice table with a market umbrella by the fountain and geraniums in the courtyard. Four people were involved in seating us, taking our order, serving our food and drinks. Everyone was cheerful and efficient. We enjoyed our food and were in and out in time for the show. Prices were reasonable."

  • "Sammy G's is a great spot for Italian food complete with Frank Sinatra serenading everyone. What a fun place to enjoy an outdoor dinner. Very nice staff too."
    Dined on 3/18/2014
  • "I thought the food was good but our server made it obvious he was just a server. He didn't seem to care if we liked our food, had a good time or anything. In fact, I had to call him from across the room to even get another glass of wine. If it hadn't been for his staff that assisted with water and cleaning up the dishes, we would have left without tipping, they deserved it more than him."

  • "Lunch was great.. dinner was terrible..Soggy veggies in the minestrone ,caprese salad was almost ice cold and tge entree of sand dabs was lukewarm at best..I hate sending food back, but I had to...will not be going back there for dinner"

  • "Found it on trip advisor recommended and we were going to another restaurant but had to cancel. Ask for Bruce's section-great waiter-professional,knowledgeable and makes your mouth water describing the meals Great food-can be romantic setting or group setting-great music and dancing Place was packed and understandably so-will visit again next year"
    Dined on 3/13/2014
  • "We were promptly seated outside, as requested. The staff was attentive and got us out of there on time to walk a few blocks to the Follies. We had the sand dabs which were delicious. Our friends had the mushroom ravioli and barramundi. Both were great. Sammy's is conveniently located across the street from a public parking garage. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "Having your meal served on the patio with the sound of splashing water from the courtyard fountains made for a very enjoyable evening. Be it romantic or just the ambience it is a wonderful location."
    Dined on 3/15/2014
  • "There were 7 of us for dinner and trill included an 18% gratuity, wich my husband hadn't noticed on te bill. He ten added a 20% tip on top of that! The waiter ignored his addition and just put in for the original amount including the tip! Thank you for your honesty!"

  • "Loved dining outdoors in heart of downtown Palm Springs. Great dinner under $20.00. Good selections of beers and enjoyed my margarita too!"

  • "We ate in the outdoor area, with Lacy as our server. She was excellent, prompt, efficient. The food was delicious. Would highly recommend! Enjoyed the happy hour before our dinner. A nice surprise at the end of dinner was a complimentary glass of amaretto...nice touch!"
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, ALL FOOD WAS VERY HOT WHEN SERVED. WE WERE NOT HAPPY THAT BRUCE OUR WAITER TOLD US THAT THE SALADS WERE VERY LARGE AND WAS ENOUGH FOR 2 TO SHARE, BUT DID NOT ADVISE US THAT IT WOULD COST $4.OO ON OUR BILL TO DO THAT. I STILL DO NOT AGREE THAT A TIP OF 18% SHOULD BE PUT ON A BILL FOR 6 PEOPLE."
    Dined on 3/14/2014
  • "Service, ambience, food... all excellent. Excellent value. The Snapper was well cooked, well seasoned. Beans and potatoes done to perfection."
    Dined on 3/11/2014
  • "We eat here often and always have great service and great food."

  • "We took four friends to Sammy G's before we went to the follies. We suggested it because we have always had good service. Everyone enjoyed it. Our group didn't order any drinks, appetizers or deserts but were treated very well and given the great amaretto and biscotti to finish off a great dinner. They were all impressed."
    Dined on 3/8/2014
  • "We had one of the pizzas. Thin crust and delicious toppings. Very reasonably priced. We also had the antipasto appetizer plate which was more than enough for four people but priced a bit high, we thought. The service was excellent, the ambience very pleasant. There is a lovely water fountain in the courtyard which was very calming to listen to. The fresh bread basket which is served first came witha fantastic olive/oil topping instead of butter. It was really tasty and our waiter even told us how to make it. We will go back."

  • "I always forget about Sammy G's because it's hidden back a bit from the Main Street (Hwy 111), but it's worth looking for, with an extensive menu, impeccable service and fair prices, Sammy G's a winner in my book. Now is the perfect weather to dine on their patio..."

  • "I had the vodka rose tomato sauce with pancetta on penne and added shrimp. The sauce was fabulous without the prawns. The meatballs are the best ever. At the end of the meal we were too full for dessert, but our waitress, Tabetha surprised us with a coffee liquor and delicious biscotto's. We dined outside in the front, which was a great spot they made for the 5 of us. We would definitely return to try other tempting choices on the menu."

  • "Having dined at Sammy G's a couple of times before, I had no hesitation in suggesting it for dinner with visiting friends. Outcome - meh!"

  • "We were there on a very busy night and it seemed like they didn't have enough servers. But the food was good as usual."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "First time there , and was a good experience. It was all good . We did think the waiter talked fast and was in rush. Which I am sure he was."
    Dined on 3/5/2014
  • "Dessert menu said $7, charged us $8. Dinner menu said "add shrimp $3", charged $6. No excuse for this with computerized terminals. Service was mediocre, no-one seemed very interested and smiles were completely absent. Food was only fair. Service was rushed, our conversations were interrupted, different wait staff for serving. Our principal waitress was absent most of the evening. She did call by the table to ask how the food was, but by then we had finished the meal. Desserts are advertised as home made in their kitchen - don't expect that to mean they are anything special. Very noisy room, conversation difficult. A year ago we had an excellent lunch here with great service. Will not go back."

  • "Server Tabetha was simply absolutely wonderful. My custom ordered veggies with marinara & parm cheese was perfect. Husband's Halibut, not what we New Englanders are used to for halibut which is usually firm like swordfish. not bad but kind of pricey. Salads, bread & tapenade, predictably fabulous. Also, requested a candle in dessert that did not arrive as planned. Anyway, we love this place as it is so reliably excellent!"
