Diner Reviews
  • "Waitress was rude and inattentive. It's sad that the best part of the "Flat Iron Steak Plate" was the green beans. This plave has a great ambience but it's extremely overpriced based on thw service and the quality of the food."

  • "Great place for a night out with your wife or girlfriend. Diner, live music, and dancing in one place."

  • "We haven't been here in a while and it was excellent. I don't usually review restaurants but this one was extraordinary. Menu had some really cool stuff that made it a little more interesting than your typical American fare."

  • "A real jewel in the midst of downtown. I would recommend this place for lunch and dinner. The Live music is a plus"

  • "Potatoes au gratin were the highlight! Service was good and quick!"

  • "We ordered from restaurant weeks menu. The selections were from the regular menu. Not sure if the portions were smaller or not. My husband had the vegetable lasagna and enjoyed it. There was an over abundance of olives. Otherwise, it was very tasty! I had the lobster enchiladas. They were a lot of tortilla and not much else. The sauce was good. There were some potatoes that were layered as a side. They were cold. The best part of the meal for me was the dessert creme brulee. It was top notch."

  • "Having been to several of the restaurants for Restaurant Week, I must say that Sambuca is one of my top 2 picks!! The hanger steak was awesome!"

  • "The food is wonderful. It has great flavor and is seasoned well. The bands playing create a relaxed, yet upbeat atmosphere. Not to mention how lively the dance floor is!"

  • "Nothing spectacular...but band was great. I visited for Houston restaurant week and the menu was ok, I really expect more."
    Dined on 8/21/2014
  • "Rudeness started with a call to confirm reservation where I was informed that if I were more than 15 minutes late I would be marked As a no-show in thier open table system. Server was ok food was what you might expect at a chain restaurant in the burbs. Wine list was pitiful. This was definitely a waste of time and money."

  • "The food was great and I loved the live band. It was a fun atmosphere and I will be back again!"

  • "Great food. Good service. But very loud when the band is playing - and we were in the back."

  • "A friend and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. I had been to Sambuca years ago and remember it being lively, great music and great food. The food was great but the service was horrible and the music was downright awful. Off key, bad singing and worse was the stage presence of the band. Our waiter disappeared constantly and the manager had to close out our ticket. I was disappointed and really had high hopes for this once great gem of Houston."

  • "Visited A few years ago..atmosphere was the same; however the food was not good at all this visit...Too much rice on the étouffée dish..no flavor..Mojito was very bitter...waiter had too many guests to serve..hostesses didn't seem to go over and beyond with attentiveness to guests...I drove from the spring/woodlands area to celebrate my oldest sister's birthday..very difficult to admit..should have taken her to Flemings.."

  • "The food was great, the music was just right...not overpowering...you dont have to yell to be heard...the lightening was just enough to relax...very pleasant."

  • "I've been to Sambuca several times for date nights and occasions, and it never fails. There is live music 7 days a week which has always been very entertaining. The decor is a great mix which makes it a great place for people who like to take in their environment. Service is always spectacular which goes along with the food! It is a bit pricey, but well worth it."

  • "This has been a favorite restaurant for us for years. I have seen a decline in food quality over the last year. I had the Lobster Enchiladas and they were good but not great. My wife had the same comment on the Seafood Integration, which she regularly orders. We were there Saturday night and the band was outstanding, one of the reasons we came from Spring TX to the restaurant."

  • "We went to Sambuca's on a Thursday evening and the restaurant was busy, but not excessively so. The food and atmosphere were great, but the service was nonexistent. Half of our time there was spent waiting on our waitress to take the order and get drinks. Once our food was brought out, we had to wait another 10 minutes just to get the proper silverware. While we were eating, we saw several people walk out after waiting 20-30 minutes for a waiter to take their order. Not good!"

  • "Despite the restaurant having called me two hours before our reservation to confirm, our table was not ready [and it wasn't because the restaurant was full]. Once we were seated, our group had a serviceable lunch with a nice variety of menu choices. The bisque seemed a table favorite."

  • "My husband and I went here for a date night and because it was Houston Restaurant Week and $10 would go to the Houston Food Bank. Our meals were delicious and service was outstanding. Thank you Jordan!"

  • "Just ok ... Not great. Can't say that I will return anytime soon"

  • "Great live music venue. Food was good, not great. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Shrimp and crab dip appetizer was good although toast points instead of tortilla chips would have been an improvement. Flat iron steak cooked perfectly but should have been marinated longer. Tuna poke (tartar) was good. Berry cobbler desert was excellent. Wine list is not extensive but has a good mix of fine wine and fine value."

  • "I took out my gf for a birthday dinner. We ordered soup/appetizer and main course. To our surprise the server brought all the items together instead of letting us finish our soup first. We have to ask her to warm up the pizza again. I hope the servers will learn (if they don't already know) that the patrons should be given time and should be courteous. I think that was very rude. I did pay the tip but next time, please don't expect the customers to come back for dinner let alone leaving you a nice tip."

  • "...and the menu is so much improved, especially for vegetarians! Everything was delish and will return for a meal prior to theater or other downtown events. The wine menu is not bad either!"
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "The ambience is great, service attentive and food is normally very good. My filet this last time was overdone and tasted like cardboard. The champagne chicken was not that good either...very dry."

  • "I found Sambuca on line, I was looking for something close to the symphony hall and interesting. Sambuca has a very interesing menu, good wine and drinks. The service was great, food came just when you wnated it and it was delicious."
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "We ate at Sambuca because it is close to Jones Hall and we were going to the symphony. The food is overpriced. The lobster tempura was tough. The pizza was OK. While it wasn't a terrible dining experience, we don't have plans to return."
    Dined on 7/26/2014
  • "My husband, 22 year old daughter and myself ate here before the symphony. We loved the location, atmosphere, and the food. There were so many interesting choices on the menu that we had a hard time deciding what to order. Our waiter was very helpful and made some excellent suggestions. The pork chops were wonderful, along with the filet. This is one of the few restaurants I've seen that serve Brussel sprouts and they were delicious."

  • "My husband and I came out here for a date night. We were able to get a reservation easily and the service was great. The wait staff was knowledgable and attentive. It was a litle loud and busy so it was kinda tough to be romantic, but we had a good time. The food was great and the drinks were good as well. For the price of the food we would have liked to have a salad or bread or sides included with the entree, but the entrees were a good size. Overall it was a nice experience."

  • "Loved the option of small plates vs. full entree's. Between the four of us we were able to order several small plates and share. Having the ability to taste many items was enjoyable and preferred. We will definitely be returning to Samubucas."

  • "My girlfriends and I were attending a concert on 7/18. I made reservations a month in advance. When we arrived our table was ready. The food was great. We had a nice area to ourselves for nice conversation. It was a little loud but not too bad. Valet was 10.00 and was quick to return with our vehicle. Service was good."

  • "The restaurant was lovely. However, the temperature was extremely cold, which resulted in leaving much ealier than planned due to the discomfort experienced from such frigid temperatures."

  • "I had taken a friend out for her birthday on a Monday night. I wasn't expecting a crowd, but boy was I wrong. Apparently the sought after local singer Yvonne Washington performed that evening. She gave a wonderful performance. The ambiance was perfect. Conversations were a tad difficult due to the live band, but that's understandable. Drinks were pricey and the food was "ok". Nothing spectacular. I'll definitely come back to see Yvonne Washington again as well as their Latin Night."

  • "The quality and service at Sambuca are consistently good. On the one occasion where there was a breakdown in service, Sambuca more than made it up to my guest and me - very professional and focused on doing what was right."

  • "From the minute we walked in, we were treated very warmly and seated at a nice table with a view to the band. The fetuccini carbonara with shrimp was sumptuous and the music was a wonderful trip to our memories of the 90's and of course some current hits. As a transgender, I really enjoyed how the wait staff treated me and my friend, very friendly. As though we might have been long time regular diners. The entre pricing was very well worth the expense. I highly recommend this dining/entertainment experience. Josie."
