A word from Sam Snead's Oak Grill & Tavern
If you live and breathe the game of golf, you’re bound to hunger for more than a few birdies. At Sam Snead’s Oak Grill & Tavern, you can feast on your passion for the game, as well as great food. Come in and roam from room to room, savoring the rich wood décor and all the memorabilia collected by Sam himself as he made his way into golf history. Then choose from a wide selection of foods grilled only with locally-cured
oak that creates our signature, unique flavor. Start with Sam’s appetizers; make your selection from Certified Angus Beef ® brand products, the freshest local seafood, chicken or fall-off-the-bone ribs smoked in-house.
Complement all of this with a fine wine, a Slammin’ Sam lager or your favorite cocktail. For the lighter appetite, there’s a wide salad and sandwich selection to be enjoyed at Sam Snead’s Oak Grill & Tavern. Be sure to top your meal with one of our homemade desserts.

Diner Reviews
  • "Very group friendly and comfortable setting. Meats and fried items were excellent. Meat sauces/gravies were wonderful and batter on haddock was described by several in the party as "best they have ever had". Salmon was cooked properly and flavorful. However, avoid the pasta. The sauce was flavorless and thin/runny, a huge mistake; with the great items on the menu I would suggest removing this item as it was so far removed from the quality of the other items."

  • "Do not have a good first impression of Sam Snead's. Our waiter forgot my soup, our friends butter and , my asparagus were late being served because they burned the first ones and my prime rib I ordered medium well came out raw. 2 people at our table ordered the pork chops and said they were very good. Had to look for our waiter several times. They also were play some head banging I will say the manager was very gracious and took my prime rib off the bill. Loved the decor and the bartender was very friendly. Maybe we will give it one more chance. Liked the menu selection."

  • "Scallops a little undercooked but tender. Ribeye steak cut on the thin side. Ok restaurant but would eat at other local restaurants for our tastes."

  • "I had a lovely dinner here with my husband and sons during our Myrtle Beach vacation. Accidentally got there early enough for the special menu and was perfectly happy with those choices. Waitress was great. Food very tasty. I recommend it."

  • "Food was not good. It was very expensive. Portions were small. Service was very slow."

  • "Though quite attractive, neither the food nor service compared with what we had experienced routinely when Sam Snead's was located at Restaurant Row. In fact, our annual family pilgrimage to Myrtle Beach always included multiple dinners at that restaurant and we were never disappointed. Can't say the same about this last visit. Although the restaurant was not busy, the service never materialized. The ribs which Were formerly memorable we're no longer exceptional. Too bad as we are one and done."

  • "The food was very good overall. Had the crab cake as an appetizer and it was tasty but not worth the money. I split the rib dinner with my wife and the ribs were fantastic, along with the Mac and cheese. Service was slow. We ate outside and it was a beautiful evening, so a good choice for outside dining."

  • "A group of us ladies go for lunch once a month. We like to try new restaurants and this was our first time here. We had a great lunch. Food and service were excellent. We had a large table off to the side and we were not rushed at all to leave. Loved the woody decor and smell of the restaurant."

  • "A great place to go after playing golf. All the standard fare a golfer would wish, along with memorabilia from Sam Snead's career and life."

  • "We ate there on our way to the airport for an evening flight home. The place was pretty quiet- only a few tables occupied. Ordered just a few appetizers, as we thought it would be the quickest way to get served. Food arrived 40 minutes later- the manager did try and make it up to us by comping one of the appetizers, but the service was disappointingly slow. The teriyaki wings and the quesadilla were good. I just wish we had more time to enjoy them. I would try it again as the food was good, but next time I would be more explicit to the server about our time constraints."

  • "Overall the food and the experience were great. My only issue was the portion sizes for the children. The portions were too big. "

  • "Once again, Open Table found us a great meal! We're not golf enthusiasts but we were desperate for a place to get a nice meal. My father always admired "Slamming Sammy Snead" so we figured, what the heck. This place is very nicely appointed; lots of wood, golf memorabilia on the wall. Very comfortable. Our waiter was attentive and quick with our drinks. The menu was varied and our food was great. We were grateful that the kitchen stays open a little later than other places in the area. So, if you find your self in Myrtle Beach and in need of a good meal, give this place a try. "

  • "Sam Snead's is a great find for golfers. There is a great display of memorabilia from Sam's days and it is really interesting to see everything. Besides that, the food is excellent. One or more in our party had the shrimp and grits. The grits are done in a unique style that the chef came out and described to the table. They were done in a crispy lightly fried cake...delicious. My pork dish with two cheeses was excellent as well. Service was great."

  • "We were looking forward to having a great steak after playing golf in the area and heard about Sam Sneads opening! Since we had a good experience at the old location we thought we would give the new location a try. Unfortunately, we weren't impressed. Based on the server's recommendation we opted to order the larger ribeye because she said it would be thicker therefore easier to get it cooked as we like it. There were four of us and two got very thin steaks that were over cooked and small. Not a good value at $28 !!! The other steaks were the thickness you would expect and cooked correctly. For the two with the thin steaks we could only envy the thicker steaks! Just not the best experience and value!"

  • "Our server was very nice and corrected our order when both our meals came out wrong. Food was tasty but it did take awhile for the food to come out. We had a coupon that we used and I am unsure if we would go back. Second time there since it opened and still not overly thrilled. It is a very comfortable and well decorated restaurant."

  • "My dinner of Salmon, rice and asparagus was very good. Their sauteed spinach was excellent. The service was also very good. We sat by the fireplace and since it was a cold day in South Carolina we really enjoyed that. The decor is also very warm with plenty of golf memorabilia."
