Signature dishes from acclaimed chef/partner Sam Mickail's new menu include Four Onion Soup w/Sherry & Fontina, Dover Sole Meunière, Herb Crusted Double Cut Colorado Rack of Lamb, Triple Cut Cheesecake and some of the best dry-aged steaks and chops around.   • "This place was underwhelming in every regard. The location is above a space used for parties and security has to escort you too and from the front door. The place has no light but lacks the ambience associated with a steak place. In fact it is ultra modern in design. The service was dreadful: my skirt steak arrived without my fries which the waiter said the kitchen had "forgot." It took ten minutes to deliver them as my steak got cold. My 14 ounce skirt steak was barely 8 ounce - and forgettable. And the waiter was polite but dropped things, forgot things, cleared half the table and then drifted off to care for another table, etc. I could actually list more but you get the point. We visited on Tuesday so it was mostly empty. So no excuse"

Our waiters are always knowledgeable and attentive and the ambiance is very pleasant. Will definitely be going back soon. Waiting to see the next great (not-to-be-missed) special!"

  • "Walked into the place with nobody greeting us, wandered around a club and thought we were at the wrong place. Called them and they said oh we'll be right down. We had a nice tour of the club to the back of the building where we were lead upstairs to the restaurant. The vibe was that you were eating a steak in a club with all the lights on before the club opens...just felt weird. Service was unqualified and unprofessional, only had like 5 bottles of line from a list of hundreds, and the waited begged us to tip in cash. Food was awesome, we were pleasently surprised by it so I'll go again and hope the ambience and service improves."

  • "I can see that Cut is trying to compete with the other steak houses but they lack the quality of service that their prices suggest. For example, cocktail menu stated that the drinks were made with Kettle vodka but I specifically saw the bar tender use another brand. When mentioned to waiter response was defensive. Waiter couldn't open bottle of wine my husband had to help him. He actually Sid " I suck at this" I suggest they practice. When moving raw bar tray the waiter splashed ice and water on the floor, table and m husbands shoes. Brief apology but no offer of compensation. Waiter was unfamiliar with the menu and stammered when questioned On the positive side the Tomohawk cut steak was exceptional as well as garlic mashed potatoes."

  • "I have eaten many top notch steakhouses and everyone claims they have the best bacon. Look no further, Sam Mickail's CUT has the BEST bacon. The steak was cooked to perfection and the Chilean Sea Bass was also excellent. The only set back was the restaurant is located on top of a night club and you need to walk pass that, go up the stairs, and make a left to get to the steakhouse. Food --4 stars, Location --2.5 stars, service --4 stars, price -- reasonable. "

We couldn't get a 6 o'clock reservation and when we showed up there wasn't a single other person there. The temperature inside the restaurant felt about mid sixties in the middle of the winter and there was a constant draft over our feet. Factor in the luxury steakhouse prices and we felt rather cheated. C A bad experience all around."

  • "While the restaurant is a steakhouse, they do an admirable job on fish too. The sea bass with lobster risotto was wonderful. Great flavors and huge chunks of lobster. The steaks were great as expected of a steakhouse. The lamb was also fantastic. Huge portions offset some of the huge prices,although the wine list is reasonably priced and had a good variety. Due to the restaurant being out of a wine we ordered, the chef visited our table and comped us some sides and desserts. Sides were all great, and the desserts were outrageous. VERY nice gesture but in reality, it was too much food! :) The space is really interesting as it is the upstairs of a club/private party space. Would love to go to a party there!! We will definitely be back!"

  • "We dined here once before and it was very good overall. However, this time we did not have similar experience. Our server was very nice, but there were definite problems this evening..my son couldn't get his Coke for an unreasonable amount of time (to change out soda machine), we could not get a 6PM reservation so settled for 5:15, yet there were only 2 tables filled in entire dining room until we left at 7:45. My main course (NY Strip) was not served with all other entrees (for some unknown reason) and then when finally arrived, 15 mins later, was a T-bone, not NY Strip. Dessert and coffees came at lengthy intervals.it was just an overall poor dining experience for a very expensive amount of money. Very disappointing and very expensive."

A friend of ours told us about this new hidden gem in West Orange nestled in a corner of 2nd floor of what I have been told is the #1 nightclub in NJ. well we were blown away. Service was great. Food incredible. room was gorgeous. A sure winner. What a treat!"
