  • "The food was top notch. I thought the pricing was high compared to the portion sizes I'm accustomed to at other high end steak houses. The wedge salad was carved from a baby head of lettuce but the calamari was large enough for 2 people. Things that distracted me from the experience: the draft beer i was served was not cold, it tasted about 45 degrees and i had to ask for a new one, which they just served in a colder glass. The other thing that happened was after the appetizers, they cleared the table of everything, including bread, silverware, bread plates and all. I had to ask if we could please keep the bread on the table. They had to reset the table after we were served the main course. Overall though it was a good experience though."

  • "We went to Sam & Harry's for our anniversary dinner and ordered from the prix fixe menu. The soup and salad were really good but the entrees were disappointing. The wagyu short ribs were so flavor less they were sent back and replaced with the pork tenderloin with sausage and pork belly.which was better but not what was expected from a restaurant of this caliber. The Hawaiian Ono was good but was a bit overdone and dry around the edges. The wait staff was nice but didn't seem interested in why the beef was sent back and management never made an appearance to ask if we were satisfied. Dessert was great with happy anniversary written in chocolate on the plate (a nice touch). Overall, I'd give this place a miss for the price vs quality."

  • "I knew that the hotel was beautiful but I had no idea I would be in for a treat at the restaurant. I celebrated my birthday in Chicago visiting friends and family, since I was accompany by children I thought this place would be "safe". And to my surprise I wound up with a memorable experience that cannot be surpassed. The fruit was fresh, sweet and chilled perfectly. My server was polite and patient all while being very attentive. The cook OMG! My meal was perfect there are no other words to describe it.. I had an omelette that was perfect! Fresh potatoes and onions seasoned by the Gods! And an assortment of pastries (brunch dining) I will be back.."

  • "My wife and I periodically go to Sam & Harry's to have a great steak and enjoy the people that work there, many of whom we've gotten to know. We like the restaurant but we've noticed that the level of service has changed. We used to enjoy the antipasti tray with the assorted breads and olives, but we were told that they no longer do this for customers. Needless to say, a disappointment. However, the meal was very good and the service was great."

  • "We came for the restaurant week special. The paper said $30 & their menu said $35. They honored the $30 price after I showed the article. I ordered the lobster bisque, which wasn't bad. My main dish consisted of 2 scallops on the plate. Good thing I ate some bread and knew dessert was coming. They were very tastey, but only 2!! The creme brulee was very good. My husband ordered the ribeye steak. It was good, but he wanted a baked potaote and was told they don't have them. He got mashed instead and paid $8 for them. Our server was young & perhaps new - she didn't know the menu as well as she should have. Overall, definitely not worth the money we paid for what we got. Don't plan on ever coming back."

  • "My wife and I enjoyed our visit. The server was friendly and helpful. The wine list was very well put together. The food was good and reasonably priced considering the upper quality. The people-watching is an unexpected plus. The one drawback is that there is no restroom in the restaurant itself. A walk into the hotel lobby and around the Starbucks is required for relief."

  • "My husband and I visited Sam & Harry's for Valentine's Day and we excited to try a great restaurant and were willing to spend a little more b/c of a special occasion. Good things first, the food & drinks were amazing! Hosts and ambiance were inviting. The bad, it took our server 15 minutes to greet us and get us drinks at the table. Then food was delivered to our table that we didn't order, it was for the table next to us...not a big deal but just part of the whole problem. After food order we only saw our server once. Never asked how everything was, delivered our check to the wrong table and was generally unpleasant. When paying these prices, we expect exceptional service. We will try one more time, but may not be worth the money."

  • "Sam & Harry's is not your everyday dining place, but for a special occasion (Valentine's Day, Anniversary) we highly recommend it. Hilary loved the bone marrow and rare filet. I loved the 16 oz rib eye and huge, super fresh shrimp cocktail. Sides were brussel sprouts and trumpet mushrooms. Both were wonderful. Enough said. Big wallet or special occasion = Sam and Harry's,"

  • "My father's 80th birthday. Our fourth visit, our favorite restaurant. We were seated promptly. We asked about Rack of Lamb, as noted on the online menu we were informed that this location is no longer a part of the Sam + Harry's chain. Then I asked about my favorite, crab legs, and was informed they no loner offer those either but shortly after that our server came back and informed me they "found some". Needless to say, I didn't order them. It seemed as if there was only one person taking orders for all the tables. Then we were informed that this great chef who plans the menu was now preparing the new menu but guess what, we wasn't there that night. They didn't remember my birthday request until after the bill was brought. Disappointed!"

  • "I have never complained about anything in my life (well, not about food). Heck, I don’t even return a dish if had hair in it. However, the one thing that I cannot stand is getting bad service. I’m still getting over the awful taste out of my mouth from the lack of service that I had at S&H. We came here to celebrate my anniversary with my gf. When we got there, the host quickly sat us at our table and then the busboy filled our glass with water. But the wait staff was no where to be seen. We sat there like a bunch of CHUMPS for the next 15 mins. However, when she came by, she grabbed the CC receipt that was left from the previous guests and left us sitting there again. My blood was boiling at this point and we had to leave the restaurant."

The food is incredible at Sam & Harry's - though the parking was NOT great - as there was a cheerleading convention and they don't have valet or anything (people were abandoning vehicles haphazardly everywhere in the snow - some people taking multiple spots, etc)."

  • "Once you figure out how to get your pillows arranged your seating can be great! Service was average. We were there for Chicago restaurant week and the waitress didn't seem happy we were getting the prix fix dinner ( even though there was 4 of us and we ordered cocktails and a good bottle of wine!). The lobster bisque was very good. Great for a romantic evening! They did not rush us but they were not very attentive either!"

  • "I love Sam and Harry's. It's a beautiful restaurant inside the Renaissance Hotel, with edgy, contemporary decor. It is classy and romantic, and the service is excellent. I recently took my husband there to celebrate his birthday. The staff was attentive, quick, and knowlegeable. Our dinner and drinks were delightful. They even brought my husband a lovely birthday dessert "on the house". We can't wait to go back there in late spring when they open up outdoor seating on their awesome terrace."

I view this as good hotel restaurant (meaning if I was staying at the hotel this would be a good choice), but we have so many good places in Schaumburg, it would be difficult to go back here."

  • "Every year for the past 4 years we have come here with close family friends for dinner. The service is always outstanding as well as the ambiance. This time however I was very disappointed with the food. I had ordered a filet butterflied and crusted with goat cheese. When they brought it out it had bread crumbs on it and no cheese. When I asked the waiter he said it was mixed in with the bread crumbs. I KNOW what goat cheese looks/tastes like and there was NO goat cheese! My husband ordered a skirt steak crusted in Parmesan cheese. He had a sprinkling of cheese and it was NOT crusted! I would go back here again to give it another shot but very disappointed with the actual food."
