Diner Reviews
  • "The drinks were good but pricey, e. $10 for the ginger beer and absinthe mules. From worst to best: - the sampler platter was uninspired. The fries were underdone. Were the hummus "chips" from Trader Joes? And soggy. - the bruschetta was ordered by 2 people and both though it tasted tired. - my burger was good but was med/med-well after the waiter and I had discussed med/med rare. Fries were very under cooked. - my mom's piquillo raviolli was the best dish by far with a nice pepper sauce with corn. This was quite good. The wine was very expensive ($16 for a glass Seghesio Zin; $20 a bottle at Costco, as an example). By the restrooms, they had many more unlisted interesting wines (St Cosme CdR, Oregon Pinots, e.g. Elks Cove, etc.)"

  • "Halfway between hip place for grownups and college bar scene, the food was surprisingly delish. I recommend the hummus nachos, quinoa salad and prosciutto sandwich! Cool absinthe things on the bar. Service is friendly. Outdoor patio ambience could use some work, but nice all the same."

  • "This restaurant was a good find with a great outdoor patio and good food/drinks. The food was very good and reasonable priced. One member of our group felt that he got a significantly smaller portion than the rest of us and paid more than what we did for our food. He got one of the pasta dishes. However it was nice to take family from out of town her because the patio was nice and open, it wasn't too loud, and we got a seat right away. We will go back in the future."

  • "Very friendly staff. Cute outdoor patio that was very relaxed and fun. Food was very good though took a little longer than expected with an almost empty restaurant. Wait staff was vert laidback and did not rush at all. Seemed to genuinely enjoy working there! We got a chicken panini and Sun devil burger. Delicious! We normally go to their sister place Oliveos for a quick bite, but Salut is one step up with a little more thought put into the food"

  • "I hosted my husband's birthday party here for 12 adults. I was very pleased with the service, the food and the environment. Definitely a great place for a birthday bash! The outdoor patio has great ambience and the staff was very accommodating."

  • "We have now gone a total of three times in the last month. The first was on our honeymoon night. Everyone was pleasant kind and very welcoming. The food was wonderful we ate wild mushroom bruschetta and then we had the fettucinni Alfredo and the pistachio crusted salmon. Then as a wedding present since my new husband and I do not drink, they gave us the s'mores dessert. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Chef Chris was able to identify some amazing flavored and combinations.. The owners were amazing and friendly. I tell you one of the owners looks just like Shane from the walking dead. His name is David. Amazing!!!"

  • "Limited food choice, but high quality eatery! Unique romantic dessert option...a table top campfire to make yummy S'mores!"

  • "This is a great restaurant if you like good food and are in a hurry. The servers were attentive, but our main course was rushed to the table before we even had a chance to finish our appetizers. We would have preferred to be able to slow the pace and savour the meal. The dessert menu was limited, but we chose to share the chocolate cake and were not disappointed."

  • "Great service as we sat on the patio with our puppy. The staff was very friendly and we will be back as our children live in the neighborhood."

  • "My boyfriend and I enjoyed Salut on February 14th. Not a typical romantic valentine spot for dinner but we needed to be in that neighborhood for the second half of our evening. The restaurant had a warm and romantic ambiance and we were in a secluded booth. I read the reviews and it sounded like a place we would enjoy. The service was excellent and the food was fantastic. We will definitely return."

  • "I love Salut and have been here a few times. I ordered the Siracha burger (without a bun) and it was fantastic and the Salut fries are so yummy. One thing I have noticed is that when I order a rum and coke, they are very light on the rum and very heavy on the coke. When I asked them to rectify this, I got one drink that was pretty decent and then the next one was once again heavy on the coke. Would not be my choice for Happy Hour drinks although they have great deals on wine."

  • "I have been here before but this time was even more impressive than the other 2. Our waiter knew his stuff inside and out, making recommendations that were delicious. I had the Sun Devil burger, and it was devine. All ingredients were fresh and the meat was outstanding. The absinthe is also a cool touch to try out. At the end the waiter explained how the Brunch works too and how they added new items to the menu. I will most certainly be joining for Brunch coming up as well."

  • "Have been wanting to try this new place and glad we did. Great food, good and friendly service. I had the feeling that each employee there is empowered by the owner to do what they need to do to provide good food and service. I am guessing that gourmet burgers are a hard item to always get just right for the customer."

  • "Found this restaurant on yelp on the way from Austin to Phoenix. What a find! Every course was outstanding and for the quality, the prices were very reasonable. Do yourself a favor and try it for dinner."

  • "I had a reservation for 6 9:30 on a Sunday morning. Some of us arrived 10 minutes early and were asked to wait outside. 9:30 comes around and the restaurant is clearly not ready for us. We sat for 5 minutes before lights were even turned on. Coffee not ready, not ready to take our order. Actually came because of the oreo pancakes that were on an advertisement. They were no where near what was pictured in the advertisement. They did give each of us a rose which was nice. The waitress was fine. My biggest disappointment is the fact that they were not ready for our 9:30 reservation. We came a few minutes early to honor our reservation, the staff should have been ready."

  • "Four of us ladies went for lunch. We each had wine, a salad and split the s'mores! It was all delicious! The roasted corn salad was much smaller than the Greek & Cobb salads, but still good. Love the ambiance and decor. Would be great for a date night!"

  • "Service was slow and disorganized. The owner came to check whether we liked the drinks we ordered. He was very personable. Salads and entrees were very good. Interior could be more inviting, more comfortable."

  • "Would like to think as a wine bar you would have greater selection of Cabs. Perhaps also could consdier half bottles of Cab. FYI"

  • "Good food, once it finally got to us. Had to wait 20 mins. for drinks and another 20 for food."

  • "The server was rushed , kept apologizing but never improved. Took 15 minutes to order just drinks and get water . He ran off literally before we could order food ( we were trying to tell him we were ready but he wasn't listening. The turkey burger was juicy . My friend had the shrimp which was good quality. Our drinks were incorrect and he never asked ( before he hastily put our bill down) if we wanted anything else for the evening Tasty food, a bit high priced for the shrimp portion but the front of the house really needs some work!"

  • "We went there for Sunday brunch in October. It took us more than 45 minutes to get our food which was quite bland when it finally came out. One in our party said her Eggs Benedict was cold when it arrived. The service was quite haphazard. They somehow couldn't master getting all 6 of our drink orders at the same time. Finally, we couldn't actually have a conversation as the live music was WAY too loud. The live music wasn't great but would have been tolerable had it been a reasonable volume. It's a real shame since there are so few nice brunch places in Tempe. I had hopes for this one but I don't think the issues are getting fixed any time soon."

  • "This is a great spot to watch your game but still get good food not the usual bar food that most sports bars serve. Great service and good happy hour"

  • "We tried this restaurant on a Thursday evening. It seemed to us like a (rich) college kid's hangout. Upbeat music and sports on at least 3 TVs (it's not a big place.) It is close to ASU, so it will attract the college crowd, but the prices are not for a student on a budget. The staff was very nice and friendly, and the food was decent. Not great enough for it to be a destination restaurant or part of the usual rotation for us. It would probably be good for a group happy hour, but not if you're looking for a quiet evening."
