Diner Reviews
  • "Great place for fine food, fine wine and a wonderful room!"

  • "Great food, service, varied menu- something for all tastes. I already have my next reservation."

  • "This has been my favorite place for a few years. The staff is wonderful, and the food is consistently excellent. Great for dates or small groups. The menu changes monthly, so there is always something new to try. It doesn't matter if you have a special occasion, want to pamper yourself, or just like eating at nice places regularly. You will get some of the best all around meals in the city, hands down. I was sold when I arrived near closing more than once. I got fantastic service, a perfect drink, and did not feel rushed in the least."

  • "Wonderful lunch. I especially recommend the Fried Shrimp sandwich! Service, as always, was impeccable. Chef Sedar came to the table to check on us, which is always a nice treat! So happy with this April menu. Can't wait to return next week!"

  • "Not cheap but good food and also good service. It is a bit noisy, hard to have conversation (lively atmosphere). The mussels appetizer was very good. And so was the bread pudding. Valet is free and they are very friendly."

  • "Several girlfriends and I enjoyed lunch at Salum, everything was delicious. You can't beat the Fried Green Tomatoes, always a hit. Service was good and ambiance is calm, relaxing, clean and stylish. This was my third visit and every time is wonderful experience."

  • "Had to sit out the entire month of March as we did not enjoy the March menu, but April is back with a bang. Very good selections, which will keep us coming back for the entire month. I must commend the service at Salum; it is impeccable. All in all, a very nice lunch today."

  • "Food was okay. Slightly overpriced.medium noise level"

  • "We have eaten at Salum several times (perhaps 8 times in the past year) and overall give it an outstanding rating. At this meal, both the shrimp pasta and chicken and potatoes entrees were loaded with excessive amounts of garlic. This was especially surprising for the chicken, as garlic was not even mentioned as an ingredient on the menu. So, the food could have been better. We will be back."

  • "The food and service were comparable to like restaurants. Lacking was floor oversight which translated to a less than an acceptable dining experience due to rude and disrespectful guests who were evidently over served and obnoxiously loud to the point a conversation with my party could not be held. Ownership did not attempt to remedy the situation with the guests. Instead offered to purchase my meal (which I did not accept) and the issue continued for the remaining guests as I closed my bill and exited the property. To be expected when dining out but still not acceptable behavior by either the inconsiderate party or ownership."

  • "Classy and elegant. I was afraid the closeness of the tables would be uncomfortably crowded, but it wasn't. Our service was good and not intrusive. We ordered the mussels. Fantastic presentation & delicious, but the broth was too salty. It was so tasty and I sipped on too of it. Then, when we got our beef tenderloin, which was set atop red chard with, I think, duck prosciutto, I was overwhelmed with the saltiness of the duck. It was all so delicious though. My husband and I split our entree and they plated it beautifully on 2 plates. Our friends ordered the Crostini with ham, goat cheese, and strawberry. It was delicious. They also ordered the scallop plate and the swordfish. It was all perfectly cooked and delicious."

  • "We have been to Salum on numerous occasions and have always been impressed with the food and attitude. Can't go wrong here!"

  • "We enjoyed Salum. We both had a caesar that was great with a Parmesan bread crisp that was great. One of my companions had the quail stuffed with dried fruit and loved it. My husband and I had the filet which was good, but a little too savory for me. I would definitely go back, but would try other things… Service was friendly, but the server didn't check back with us often enough."

  • "We always enjoy dining a Salum. This time however the service was a bit slow. Maybe it was because we were dining late which made later!"

  • "Goat cheese elephant garlic plate and country pate: great. Texas quail with stuffed veggies was seared and cooked perfectly. Sauce added greatly to its flavor. Pan seared sole was cooked great, but I wasn't a fan of the mint pea mash underneath it. It wasn't to my taste, there was too much of it and it made the plate look messy. Bread pudding and fruit and berry crisp were tasty desserts. Our waiter was just ok. He had a table of 6 that kept him busy to our detriment. Spent to much time talking up front while we were waiting to have our table cleared and to order dessert. I finally had to ask one of the staff to please clear our table. Brought the wrong wine. Salum always serves great food and this last visit the food did not disappoint."

  • "Our service was very nice, but every dish from the fois gras appetizer to the steak and scallop dishes were bland, but very rich. Finally the dessert - berry crisp was pure sugar. Few berries to be found. We were surprised the waiter didn't ask about it since we had eaten only a few bites. But he didn't."

  • "I was with my wife and another couple. Two had the lamb Chops and they remarked that they were outstanding. The other person's meal was good. I had the sole and it was dry and little taste. The salad was very good and gelato was excellent."

  • "By far my favorite high-end restaurant in Dallas. A hidden gem that I almost don't want to recommend in case it gets too popular and I can't get a table!! Food is just perfect. Menu diverse. Wait staff are attentive but not obsequious or overbearing. Pomegranate martinis are best in town, in my opinion anyway. But the food - my God the food - I've never been disappointed and doubt I ever will so long as Chef Abraham is at the helm of this ship."

  • "Overall a fabulous dinner. We had theatre tickets so we were a bit pressed for time, and it took a while for our service to get started. Our reservations were pretty early--6 pm--and there were not many diners at that time, so I'm not sure why it took a while to get us going. Other than that, great food, nice service, and we would have had dessert if we had time! Complimentary valet parking is a plus, and the guys were speedy and friendly. The pear martini was heaven in a glass and the cous cous was smooth as silk."

  • "The food at Salum was outstanding! The Mussles were cooked to perfection! The service was top notch... Never wanted for anything, yet the server was never intrusive to our conversation!"

  • "The best foie gras I've ever had. Seated on top of a pineapple bread pudding. With a sauce akin to a pineapple creme anglaise. Brilliant."

  • "Everything was excellent. Only complaint was that Salum was very loud."

  • "Great food. Kitchen was a little backed up, But our waitress was outstanding and offered a complimentary glass of wine. One of best spots in Dallas."

  • "Nice interior with open view of kitchen. A place "to be seen"! Food well presented and "original". Good for a business or a social lunch. I really enjoyed it!!!"

  • "Our fault but, due to the occasion (valentines day) would have loved to have had a photo. Might suggest wait staff mention this to diners. Just a cell photo by the waiter is something we are sorry we missed."

  • "The food and service were both exceptional, but how could anyone complain when Abraham and the entire kitchen staff come out to your table to personally greet you? This is really a special place!"

  • "Salum has become our go to restaurant for special occasions. It is one of the only establishments I would not fear to order anything on the menu. I can be confident that everything placed in front of me is either exquisite or the best of it's kind I've ever eaten. As a tip, they offer many types of cuisine, however, I have had some of the best steaks at Salum that I have ever had. Far better in many cases than much more expensive steakhouses. I can't recommend them enough."

  • "I made our dinner reservation for our first Valentine's Day on OpenTable about a month in advance, and Salum treated us right. We arrived a few minutes early and were immediately seated at a nice intimate banquette table where we each had a view of the entire restaurant. Our waiter Garrett and the rest of the staff were very attentive without being intrusive. Food was delicious. We had scallops and lobster tail as well as an appetizer and salad each. A very special night, and Salum did not disappoint. Thank you."

  • "We visited Salum with out-of-town friends. It was great in every way, from food to service and the valet parking! It's not a fancy room but really nice, with ample room between tables for adequate privacy.."

  • "We celebrated a special occasion and couldn't have been more pleased. The dining room is beautiful, lighting perfectly muted, tables well positioned. Best foie gras weve had (including Paris), though its pineapple cake base was too sweet. We ordered the lamb and liver, which were exquisite as were the accompanying seasonal vegetables. Our Times Ten Shiraz was a perfect match (and Dallas local). The view of the kitchen provided interest in culinary action, and kitchen sounds were nicely muted. The owner chef visited our table and offered a warm welcome. Then the night was topped by the valet - he had our car waiting for us as we stepped from the door. Nice touch! We will be back with friends!"

  • "Wonderful lunch. Really like the salads and sandwiches on the February menu. Had the chicken salad on a Panini bun, and it was excellent. Friend had the Pastrami and loved it. Service was flawless! We'll be back!"

  • "I always take out of town guests to Salum. I also have a group of women that always wants to go to Salum for our lunch get togethers. I plan to book another reservation for next week to lunch with a friend visiting here from England."

  • "Once again Salum satisfies during an important lunch meeting. Wait staff is always attentive and the food is fantastic. Cheers to Abraham."

  • "This has been a family favorite for years. Flat-iron steak (and frites) is a wonderful lunch item, but there's plenty here for those who seek something a little less hearty. Superb salads, combined with an appetizer (my favorite: country-style pate) = a nice light meal. The owner is a friendly guy who loves what he's doing and practices his craft at the highest level. And the prices won't break the bank, either."

  • "Salum is my favorite place for a business meeting: warm and courteous service, delicious food, and a see-and-be-seen vibe that brings energy to a conversation. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and inventive. I loved the grilled shrimp salad, and my guest raved about the portabello mushroom "burger.""

  • "Salum was one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in quite a while. Outstanding food, a beautiful room and great service all combined to make a memorial "pre-Valentine's Day" occasion for us. Rack of lamb was top notch and reasonable. Total bill for two cocktails, salad, two main courses, dessert and wine during dinner came to just over $100 -- a real bargain for a restaurant as highly rated as Salum. We will definitely be back."

  • "We ate here last Saturday. Won't do it again. We found the place to be small and very noisy! Then we spent the evening sending food back. The soup was flat; the chicken was under cooked. All in all a rather unpleasant evening."

  • "Wonderful food and atmosphere, relaxed, stylish setting. Have always enjoyed our meals and look forward to a reason to return to Salum."

  • "This restaurant did not live up to the hype. The review in the DMN The Guide was so far off. It was rather loud, not quiet as stated by The Guide. Rather bland, no unique and interesting combination of flavors as stated in The Guide. The owner did his best to take care of us and comp the meal. Don't believe everything you read in The Guide."
