  • "What a marvelous find during our brief stay in Beaufort! Saltus was exceptional in every way. the food was delicious, the service was friendly and attentive and the view was lovely! My wife's dietary restrictions were accommodated professionally and deliciously. Some of the better scallops I have had anywhere. If we find ourselves back in Beaufort, we will certainly find our way back to Saltus River Grill."

  • "The restaurant was extremely charming. I couldn't have asked for better service, I just wish the food would have been a little better.....don't get me wrong it was a busy Saturday night with an event going on in town that they were hosting so I understand that they had a lot going on.....I love to try different unique mix of things my husband not so much...his sous vide beef tenderloin was very rare and he had to send it back not once, but twice.....obviously, we should have opted for another cut of beef with a specific temp....but, my halibut was delicious, just not positive the black eyed pea with roast pepper puree went together as well as I'd have liked them to....otherwise, the service amazing, the ambiance perfect and our drinks yum!"

  • "We sat over an hour before getting our food. The waiter never came to inform us as to what was going on until we had already been sitting there an hour and was about to get is our food. Other people that got there after us was served before us (more than 1 table). Once we got our food, one entrée was cold and the other wasn't cooked right. The portions were super small (we left hungry). This was a terrible experience, and I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone."

The steak tartare was magnificent , the sous vide filet mignon with lump crab could not have been better, and the New York strip was cooked to perfection and couldn't have been more tender. Outside dining and our server Haley make the evening 100% perfect. This is definitely the place to dine in Beaufort if you're looking for the perfect evening- they've nailed it!"

  • "My husband and I have dined twice at the Saltus Grill. The food is excellent and the service is professional. My husband has raved about their oysters. One should save room for dessert. My husband had a chocolate souffle which was worth the 15 minute wait for it to arrived. A small band played great music during the dinner. This is the best restaurant we have found on the riverfront in Beaufort!"

  • "Went there for a romantic dinner and the ambiance lends itself to noise.the acoustics are poor. Perhaps I would visit for a family outing but if you are looking for a relaxing evening with privacy you won't find it. The tables are too close to each other as well. The food was good except the salmon was a little too dry I must say that I didn't feel value for price."

  • "From the moment we were greeted by the hostess, everything was spectacular! We had a very attentive and knowledgeable server. My husband and I ordered the crab bisque to begin our meal.it was amazing! The shrimp and grits were impressive. The chef who visited our table twice, said that dish is a staple at the restaurant and one that he is particularly proud of. For good reason! We were definitely treated well and savored every moment . I will definitely be back when visiting Beaufort again."

  • "For the first time ever we walked out of a restaurant before getting our dinner. We waited two hours and still never got our food. When we were able to flag down our waitress the only explanation was that they had had a busy weekend. We were there on a Monday night and did not think that was the appropriate explanation for the very poor service."

The cocktails were great, our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable, and we had a great time. The outside patio was an awesome addition to our romantic weekend."

  • "Went there for a first date and it turned out b etter than I could imagin. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful with great recommendations for what my date and I wanted to eat and the peering of the wine. The waiter seemed to have perfect timing on checking on us, he was never overwhelming and being a foodie and conversationalist, I appreciated it. The only con I would say is, it coud be the historic build of the restaurant....it does not absorb volume. At times the waiter had to come closer. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "We love this place and always make it a must-do spot when in Beaufort! Try to eat outside as inside on weekends just too noisy. The industrial loft decor does not absorb any sound and makes it impossible to talk. Food is always fresh and unique. Staff is attentive but not hovering and always warm & interactive with guests. Outside patio is my favorite."

  • "We had dinner at the Saltus River Grill on 3/12/14. The host and hostess were caring and gracious. Our server Nick was OUTSTANDING. He took time and explained all the Chef's specials. The Drink and wine list is very extensive. I enjoyed the music they played it was a combo of Motown and 60's Hits, Really good. For Apps. we had the raw clams and the steamed clams. Both were GREAT. The salad was nice very crisp and fresh. For dinner we I had the shrimp and grits, and my wife had the filet mignon. Both meals were over the top OUTSTANDING. The Bartender/General Manager made some great drinks. We really enjoyed our dinner here, and I would most strongly recommend this restaurant and bar to anyone who wants to have a good time."

  • "A great choice for dining in Beaufort SC. Address is 802 Bay Street but the restaurant is actually around the back overlooking the water. There is a large patio with a wood burning fireplace which would have been terrific on an evening when it was a bit warmer. We were given an inside table just back from the windows, so we had a scenic view while we dined. Crab bisque was good. Presentation of the wedge was unusual....lettuce and dressing in the center with "toppings" around the edge of the plate.... getting a bit of everything in a single bite was difficult. Duck and carmelized scallop entrees were excellent with beautiful presentation. Molten chocolate cake for dessert (allow 20 min) was great. Service by Nicolas was also good."

  • "Food was well prepared and quite tasty. Our server,however, was not attentive. We had to get up to ask the hostess for straws since none were delivered with the beverages. Beverage refills were not checked on so we again returned to the hostess stand for help. Drinks were refilled after we were told they hadn't seen us waving for assistance since looking at the tables was not part of their job--even though we were only two tables away. Some staff training might be in order."

  • "We dined there on February 22nd, 2014. But it was, unfortunately, a dissapointment. 1- We were told that fish of the night was Dorado (Mahi). Then, we were told that they are out and it is Black Sea Bass now, which I actually prefer to Mahi. I ordered that one. However, after few minutes our waitress came and told us the "good news" that we are back on Mahi again. It was 8:30 pm and I really could not figure this out how Mahi out, black bass in, black bass out, Mahi in again. I ordered Mahi and it was pretty bland in taste. 2- I ordered cesar's salad for appetizer. It came with single anchovy and no croutons. 3- Ordered bottle of white wine. Came with a chiller supposedly should keep it cool. However chiller itself was in room temp."

  • "This was our first time dining at Saltus. It was an anniversary dinner for us. Service and food was very good. I didn't particularly like where we were seated (in the bar area) but being the first time there i didn't know what the options were. Fortunately, being a Tuesday night the bar was very quiet so all is well that ends well. The outside dining area looks really nice and we look forward to coming back and trying outside dining."

  • "Great food on the SC coast isn't just in Charleston. This was our third visit to Beaufort and Saltus over the last couple of years and we have always enjoyed a great experience at Saltus. This time around it was oysters ( PEI, local and Blue Point)', tuna and dorado and the not to be missed French fries with truffle oil and Parmesan cheese. Service was knowledgeable,prompt, and unobtrusive ."

  • "We arrived for our Open Table reservation which requested a quiet table away from the noisy bar area. The maître de seemed like she did not look at any of our request and took us to the table in the middle of the noisy bar. We refused that table and I asked her if she had looked at our requests and she did not answer. After indicating I had made the request for a quiet table away from the bar through Open Table she then looked at her computer and said she would find us a table. Finally she seated us at a very nice table. The service was excellent as was the food. I highly recommend this restaurant but suggest the owner train the maître de to look at reservation requests."

  • "Saltus had a prix-fixe menu for Valentine's Day that was $69 pp--four courses and four selections in each course. Fantastic. What impressed me most is how the staff work together so beautifully to get done whatever needs to be done. Runners for the hot food, someone delivering drinks, etc. Very nice setting and a warm, friendly, positive staff. We loved it!"

  • "Great experience and our waiter was TERRIFIC! Sorry we did not get his name but we were seated at 7:00 pm party of six via Open Table and he was training a new waitress named Chloe. It got a little noisy when your live band performed and we were very glad that we were not seated near them."

  • "We were promptly seated upon arrival. Our server immediately came and introduced herself and brought us menus. These menus were specific menus only for Valentines Day 2014. You had to choose one item from each of the four courses. When I made this reservation it was not stated that there would only be specific dishes served. My wife and I do not eat seafood, nor do we eat fancy bird like Quail. I had looked at their menu and found a few dishes that both of us would eat. Neither of these where on the special menu. I asked if we could order from the regular menu after explaining our situation. The server spoke to her manager but was told we could only order from what was offered on the special menu. We gave up our table and dined elsewhere."
