  • "Steak was cold. Asperagus (sp?) was cold. Potato was hot but had to be sent back because I asked for no bacon. Waitress came around and gave pepper to the table next to us but our waiter never came around. I expected much more. If you are an expensive restaurant, you should expect excellent food and service."

  • "The food was amazing. You have to try the lobster mashed potatoes! We both had steak and were not disappointed. Very well prepared. Service: it took a long time at the end to clear up the bill. We stayed late and it wasn't busy when we were leaving. So obviously our waitress forgot about us once we asked for the bill. She did apologise after. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Everything goes so well but then you get ignored at the end. Ambience was good, but some of the tables were way too close to each other. At first we were seated at table for two practically elbow to elbow with the 6-top beside us. We opted to wait for a booth which was much nicer. We will try here again one day as the food rocked and hope we get better service."

  • "Steak was excellent but the potato could have used some condiments. Just overpriced. We went to cattlebaron the next night had a great steak meal again which included pot & veggies for less money. Since we had to pay $15 to park going to saltlik it did become a very expensive night out. We will probably not return for that reason for a long, long time. We have eaten at saltlik approx 5 times in the last 11 yrs vs 50 times at cattle baron. Price basically the reason & you get more for your money at cattle baron with same quality of food."

  • "Saltlik has been on my go to list for many years but over the last 6 months or so I have seen an unfortunate decrease in the quality of service. I don't know if it's a change in how they are serving or just the people but I had another SLOW experience last week...food was good as usual but this time we had to wait approx 45 mins for it to get to our table. Which I guess is better than last time where it took about 10-15 mins for anyone to even acknowledge us after being seated. I hope the mgmt team figures this out as I can't risk having business lunches there with service like I have been getting!"

  • "Being a steakhouse I used to occasionally enjoy a salad with a little steak in it for lunch. To my surprise all of the Saltlik's salad don' t come with protein anymore, except for chicken and shrimp which are extra cost. I guess if I'm in the mood for a steak and potato, the Saltlik will do, otherwise I'll start looking for other lunch locations"

  • "Our group had everything from fish to chicken to steak. The 10oz tenderloin is so tender, you might not need a knife. Along with the lobster mash potatoes, it is a perfect meal. Wide selection of wine and apertifs make for a nice evening."

  • "Steak was good, was not overly seasoned which I liked. My steak was warm which was disappointing. The fish, overcooked (flaky & a bit dry) we were told by the waiter from the sous chef, its the way the restaurant does their fish. After a conversation the fish was replaced. We tried a bunch of the sides, from the fries, lobster mash to the broccoli, each item was good. The appies weren't that notable. The service was ok. We got drinks and our meal in a timely manner, but round two of drinks was ordered & forgotten, it also took awhile for anyone to come by to fill our water or check if we required anything. Training may be needed as a bone was dropped on one of our bags and a napkin in our food. Not what I expected for a high end restaurant"

  • "I went there with a friend of mine Saturday for an early dinner. We were seated immediately and our server was absolutely amazing. He was very knowledgable, funny, efficient, and even made suggestions on where to go later that evening. We started with popcorn shrimp and French onion soup. Both were incredible. For out entrees we had the filet with bearnaise sauce and the lobster mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare, and those ashes potatoes were to die for! Get them you won't regret it! We also had the asparagus with the truffles hollandaise, again so delicious. It is pricey but definitely worth. Go! You will love it!"

  • "We had a great dining experience at the Saltlik for my husbands birthday dinner. The Halibut was cooked to perfection and the sirloin steaks were done exactly how our family ordered them. The only issue we had was when I booked this reservation on line was, I requested a high chair and the Saltlik didn't have one when we got to the restaurant. It would have been nice if the Saltlik could have called me about this and we could have brought a portable one from home. The staff we very friendly and most accommodating,and made the night out a nice time."

  • "I had heard this was a great restaurant so I booked for a birthday. The service was very good. We ordered shrimp and wings to start and that was very nice. I had the halibut and it was also quite good however the steaks were a huge disappointment. The New York was a grey slap of beef, absolutely no flavour, no seasonings and overcooked, the filet was cold with not a lot of flavour either. This restaurant is supposed to be a steakhouse but I would not order a steak in here. The burgers may be good but I do not know. It is to bad but we would not return"

I thought I would get stuck with a dry baked potato and salad, which usually happens to me at steakhouses, but the staff were fantastic and told me about lots of options, and I had this AMAZING spicy veggie pasta. Since then I've brought another set of guests back with me and had another great experience, and my guests said the steak was delicious."

  • "The concierge at the Marriott recommended the Saltlik as having the best steak in Calgary. I thought that since I was in cattle country for the Stampede, I'd take her recommendation. The steaks were advertised as "prime", but the ribeye & my wife's tenderloin was a "choice" at best. Very little value for the price. Our waitress -- Zoie -- was attentive and did the best that she could. Next time, I'm going to Ruth's Cris -- a block away in the Calgary Tower. In fact I did that the next night, and it was wonderful!"

  • "Wen't during stampede so the restauarant was pretty busy and therefore the service a tad slow in the beginning but everyone was really friendly and did their best to ensure we were taken care of. Tuna tartare was very tasty. Steaks were good - however the hunter chicken dish was definitely the favourite. Good spot to taste Alberta beef!"

The food here is fairly consistent and we agree they have THE BEST calamari in the city. This time however, it was better than usual! Melt in your mouth tender and fantastic flavor!"

  • "It took about 45mins to receive a burger, a chicken sandwich, and a roast beef sandwich during the lunch rush. The restaurant was busy but our waitress was seen standing around and it was difficult to flag her down to take our orders. In all, it took 1.5hrs to order, receive our food, and eat our lunch. At other restaurants, it takes 1 hr max. This is not the first time that I have received slow service at Saltlik and I should have learned from my first experience. Food was okay, but nothing special. The skinny fries were super skinny, soggy, and not hot. I will avoid this restaurant during the lunch rush in order to make my afternoon business meetings."

  • "I took a client to the Saltlik for lunch. For a steakhouse there isn't very much steak on the menu. We were there just after 11:30 and after ordering three prime rib sandwiches, our waitress came back and told us that they only had two sandwiches left. I changed my order and after doing so, she came back a second time and told us their was only one sandwich left now. A steakhouse that has no steak?? The breaded chicken sandwich that was my plan B was tasty enough but when will restaurants figure out that making a sandwich almost six inches high isn't very practical to eat? The service was slow despite there being a lot of servers on the floor and a lunch crowd that was at 70% capacity. Overall the experience was very disappointing."

I was back this week with another group of customers. On this last visit the food was once again 'ok' but not fantastic. The service was slow but staff was friendly. I expected much more (and consistant quality) from a high end restaurant."

  • "I had lunch with a colleague at Saltlik on May 27. We each ordered the lunch "special". The waitress described it but did not mention the price. Turns out the lunch "special" was more expensive than any other steak on the menu. Not impressed. $100 for two 7oz steaks. A side of broccoli and a side of asparagus. One cranberry juice. "
