Dinner for 4. Decent ambiance. Good downtown location. Nothing very special on the appetizer menu, so we skipped it. Main courses (we all selected beef options) were prepared well, but the sides were of small quantity. We were served within a reasonable time and our meals arrived all at once, which was nice. Found it somewhat noisy, as it was a Saturday evening, and our table was toward the centre. If you go, I'd recommend asking for a booth...they looked quieter and more comfortable. Hosting and wait staff were friendly, polite and attentive.

Saturday night was our first time at this Stephen Ave. location. We liked the decor and felt comfortable although the noise level was a bit loud for a good conversation. I had the petite filet but it had that soft texture that sometimes happens to steak that is too tenderized. I ordered it rare but it was closer to blue. My partner had the house salad and the chicken which were both very good. The wait staff was attentive. It was a good location as we had tickets for the CPO. I don't think I'm rushing back to this restaurant. Downstairs is a lovely area with a pool table and private seating if you want to book a private dinner or meeting.

We went to Saltlik to celebrate my birthday - upon noticing my steak wasn't cooked to my request, the manager immediately took action and replaced my order. She took my order as well as some beverages off of my order, and provided us dessert at no cost. The food was fantastic and the service was just as good - kudos to the staff for turning what could have been a bad experience to a memorable one. Thank you!

The food was okay; I ordered a steak medium and it came out well done! When we first entered the restaurant (4:30pm), there was no one to seat us. We waited approx. 5 minutes at the front (along with another couple who came in at the same time). Also make sure to come after 5pm, as the parking was $28 prior ($15 post); with being out of town it would have been nice to have been notified. The Saltlik in Banff was a lot better (food, service, location).

We were greeted by friendly staff and taken to our table immediately. Our drink order was taken right away but we had to wait for our food order to be taken, around 15 minutes. The food was excellent as it has been the fast few times I have dined at Saltlik

My wife and I were in town and wanted to find a good steakhouse and based on reviews, we tried out the Saltlik. Our service was fantastic and food was decent. I ordered the 15oz ribeye medium rare, which came out medium to well done. I spoke up and they brought me a new steak and covered the steak on the bill! I thought this was a great way of handling the situation. Normally I would not speak up, but for $38 for a steak I felt it should be how I wanted it and they handled it superbly. My wife had the filet mignon and enjoyed it. One thing we noticed was our asparagus had a char broiled taste (not a fan) and my steak came with a citrus butter which was very bitter and neither of us would recommend that. Loaded potato was delicious.

Everything was delicious. From the appetizers (tamarind dry ribs & meat/cheese plate), to the French Onion Soup, to the entrees. My prime rib was so tender and beautifully cooked. I decided to pair it with the lobster mashed potatoes. Best decision ever - delicious. The rest of my party really enjoyed their entrees, too. Kobe meatballs and fresh fettuccine was heavenly and a very generous portion. Steak and chicken were amazing. The choice of sides was a pleasure, but included items were great, too. We were too full to try dessert. Next time for sure!

Normally I would recommend Saltlik to anyone looking for great service and great steak - unfortunately this time we got neither. I brought a client for a lunch and it was not up to par. Service was terribly slow my steak was very tough; I left over half of it on the plate and there was no inquiry from the server if everything was ok - Just not the usual Saltlik experience. Hopefully this was an off day for them and not the new normal

Saltlik is a favourite with us. A wonderful steak house with a Calgary feeling. The food is more than just basic steak but never disappoints. The big plus is the great food and service with a feeling of comfort and belonging. No stuffiness or waiters that are full of themselves.

It's always good, but this particular Saturday night they didn't seem on their game for our table. Wrong appetisers delivered (Chicken Caesar instead of starter Caesar... Made for wasted food, though we were not charged), took a long time to get our order out and when it did came the steak was under done, making for a cold meal fast. Usually, water is continually served, but we had to ask for some, and it was never refilled. This was a one time event, this does not usually happen to us at Saltlik. It's a regular place for us as a family but it's of note. Especially on a fun Saturday night. We'll be back, but we'll be a little more on guard.

The steaks were not great, we went for great Alberta Beef but were disappointed. My wife wanted Blue filet, you know a nice thick piece of good beef. My striploin was ok, but not great. The service was terrible. The waiter started off by telling us that he was going to treat us to the best service ever but we hardly saw him again. The steaks arrived and we had no cutlery we asked for some and a few minutes later they had not arrived. The manager was behind me so I touched his shoulder and asked him for cutlery, we got it but I don't think he was impressed to be bothered.

Saltlik is one of our favourite steakhouses in Calgary for special occasions. The steaks are great and the appetizers are fun (try the hibachi wings with parmesan sauce). The restaurant has a great atmosphere - it's fancy enough for special occasions but relaxed and fun - not formal.

Steak was cold. Asperagus (sp?) was cold. Potato was hot but had to be sent back because I asked for no bacon. Waitress came around and gave pepper to the table next to us but our waiter never came around. I expected much more. If you are an expensive restaurant, you should expect excellent food and service.

The food was amazing. You have to try the lobster mashed potatoes! We both had steak and were not disappointed. Very well prepared. Service: it took a long time at the end to clear up the bill. We stayed late and it wasn't busy when we were leaving. So obviously our waitress forgot about us once we asked for the bill. She did apologise after. This is a huge pet peeve of mine. Everything goes so well but then you get ignored at the end. Ambience was good, but some of the tables were way too close to each other. At first we were seated at table for two practically elbow to elbow with the 6-top beside us. We opted to wait for a booth which was much nicer. We will try here again one day as the food rocked and hope we get better service.

Steak was excellent but the potato could have used some condiments. Just overpriced. We went to cattlebaron the next night had a great steak meal again which included pot & veggies for less money. Since we had to pay $15 to park going to saltlik it did become a very expensive night out. We will probably not return for that reason for a long, long time. We have eaten at saltlik approx 5 times in the last 11 yrs vs 50 times at cattle baron. Price basically the reason & you get more for your money at cattle baron with same quality of food.

Saltlik has been on my go to list for many years but over the last 6 months or so I have seen an unfortunate decrease in the quality of service. I don't know if it's a change in how they are serving or just the people but I had another SLOW experience last week...food was good as usual but this time we had to wait approx 45 mins for it to get to our table. Which I guess is better than last time where it took about 10-15 mins for anyone to even acknowledge us after being seated. I hope the mgmt team figures this out as I can't risk having business lunches there with service like I have been getting!

Being a steakhouse I used to occasionally enjoy a salad with a little steak in it for lunch. To my surprise all of the Saltlik's salad don' t come with protein anymore, except for chicken and shrimp which are extra cost. I guess if I'm in the mood for a steak and potato, the Saltlik will do, otherwise I'll start looking for other lunch locations

Steak was good, was not overly seasoned which I liked. My steak was warm which was disappointing. The fish, overcooked (flaky & a bit dry) we were told by the waiter from the sous chef, its the way the restaurant does their fish. After a conversation the fish was replaced. We tried a bunch of the sides, from the fries, lobster mash to the broccoli, each item was good. The appies weren't that notable. The service was ok. We got drinks and our meal in a timely manner, but round two of drinks was ordered & forgotten, it also took awhile for anyone to come by to fill our water or check if we required anything. Training may be needed as a bone was dropped on one of our bags and a napkin in our food. Not what I expected for a high end restaurant

I went there with a friend of mine Saturday for an early dinner. We were seated immediately and our server was absolutely amazing. He was very knowledgable, funny, efficient, and even made suggestions on where to go later that evening. We started with popcorn shrimp and French onion soup. Both were incredible. For out entrees we had the filet with bearnaise sauce and the lobster mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare, and those ashes potatoes were to die for! Get them you won't regret it! We also had the asparagus with the truffles hollandaise, again so delicious. It is pricey but definitely worth. Go! You will love it!

We had a great dining experience at the Saltlik for my husbands birthday dinner. The Halibut was cooked to perfection and the sirloin steaks were done exactly how our family ordered them. The only issue we had was when I booked this reservation on line was, I requested a high chair and the Saltlik didn't have one when we got to the restaurant. It would have been nice if the Saltlik could have called me about this and we could have brought a portable one from home. The staff we very friendly and most accommodating, and made the night out a nice time.
