  • "I love pork belly but discovered too much of a good thing is not so good. I think it would serve the dish better if the pork belly was served as an appetizer. We introduced friends to your restaurant. They loved it. Mark was disappointed that you sold out of the whole fish. The table next to ours got 2. MY husband has had it before."

  • "Only the 2nd time we have been to Salt and it was as good as we remembered from our first visit. Excellent food (the short ribs were perfect) and the chocolate goat cheese cake was delicious. The waiter even remembered us even though it had been a number of months since we were first there. Definitely a great neighborhood find."

  • "I have dined there 5 times now and every time has been amazing. Justin (the chef) is a master. I have not found anything there that I didn't like. His award winning Furikake Seared Ahi is to die for. The crab is obviously top of the line and the tuna is prepared perfectly. Other favorite apps are the mussels and pot stickers. Great entrees include the beef tenderloin, pork belly and salmon. Date night was a nice chance to try the place out. They have a separate menu it includes one app, 2 entrees and a dessert for $50. I just saw on their Facebook page that Justin has won another award. I can't say it enough, this guy is amazing. If you are on the fence about trying this place, you have to go, you will not be disappointed."

  • "Had a good dining experience with a party of 4 on 8 February 2014. The butternut squash soup is good. Unfortunately, they were out of the dessert I wanted."

  • "My wife and I have dined at this restaurant over 5 times, so we finally can write a review that everyone should trust. This place is the best restaurant in Virginia Beach hands down! The service is always great with many of the servers even coming by to say hello when they are not our server that evening. The Executive Chef, Justin, has created so many tasty items that every time we go, we get something new. He is a culinary master in Hampton Roads. If I could give him a award, I would! Can't wait to go back!!!"

  • "Service was not that great, but the food was excellent. I had rockfish over black rice with brussel sprouts. Everyone else had the beef dinners and thought they were OK."

  • "This was our second trip and we will return. My wife had the Lynnhaven oysters and said they were like she remembered (plump and good), I had the Pot Stickers and enjoyed them. She had the house salad and I had the Goat cheese salad, both were very good. My wife had the Smoked Pork Belly and only gave me a small piece. I had the Lamb and I did offer her a taste. However, she declined once so I was happy to finish it off. I did enjoy the lamb but it is hard to beat a good piece of Pork Belly. We both had the Crem Brulee and I even got some ice cream which was a nice addition. Our server did a fine job and made us feel welcome."

  • "I took my fiance here for valentines day. I cant compare to other upscale restaurants as its the first i have been to but it was very classy and had a nice romantic atmosphere. They had candles lit and set the mood by giving me us a rose to take home. The food was amazing. A little pricey but well worth it considering how it was presented and how we were served. All the servers were very friendly and very knowledgable on the menu and the wine and bourbans. I would come back here again, and highly recommend to anyone looking for a nice romantic quiet place to treat their love one to dinner."

  • "First time at Salt, day after Valentines Day, 5:30pm. We ordered off their Valentines Day special menu, and had a fabulous dining experience. Sitting in the back of the restaurant, looking out over the small pond, we were by ourselves. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. We had a very enjoyable dinner."

  • "Awesome from the start! We got there early thinking we would have to go to the bar while waiting..... The hostess worked her magic and got us a seat immediately.... Valentines Day evening. Double WOW! Then our waiter was just as exceptional. His recommendations hit the mark every time. The wine, appetizer, and main course all big hits. he food was to die for and the service was just as good. My wife has been telling everyone about it. I was told the I did good. (A big complement...) Thank you for a wonderful dining experience."

  • "We went to Salt the Saturday after Valentines Day and were able to get a 5:15 p.m. reservation. They had a pre made special menu which we were encouraged to take advantage of. It was nice because it limited the decisions I'd have to make, but at $58 per person it was a bit steep. They offered three relatively reasonable choices for wine, which compared to their regular wine list, was a deal at $30 for a bottle. The tuna poke was very good, as were the oysters. The rock fish was nicely presented and the custom desert was very nice. Meal, tax and tip ended costing $197 - an amount that will keep me from returning in the future, even for a special occasion."

  • "This was the worst restaurant experience I've had in the past 7 years. We found it to have an interesting menu on the budget. When we arrived, they had a Valentine's Day menu that advertised $60 per person + tax+ gratuity. When asked for their daily menu, our waiter mentioned that this was the menu for the evening. My husband and I shared our dinner and the portion wasn't satisfactory at all! We had Scallops as our main course and 4 were served! Needless to say we left hungry and ended up grabbing fast food on the way home. My co-worker paid cash and they the waitress didn't bring back change. How rude! I am sure that Salt is an amazing restaurant on a normal night, just not on Valentines day."

  • "We liked everything about our dining experience at Salt... Really good food, satisfying portions, great service, friendly staff and it's just around the corner. The prices are moderate by finer restaurant standards in VB. Salt is in a location that has struggled to keep a viable restaurant for a significant period of time. We expect that to change with Salt being there."

  • "A little disappointed in the cheese board selection, it was comprised of cheeses I can get from a local grocery store, I was hoping for cheese selection that I can't get that easily. Other than that it was great!"

  • "One of the best restaurants in Virginia Beach, Salt is the place on Mondays. Half off wine on Mondays. They also have a great Sake list and 32 bourbons if wine doesn't appeal to you. From the South Pacific fusion menu I ordered Asian chicken noodle soup & Pad Thai. The service was superb. Dinner for 2, with appetizers and entrees with a bottle of sake, 2 bottles of wine came to less than $150. Put it on the agenda for Mondays"

  • "I have very strict food allergies and eating out can be one of the most painful experiences. I left a note on my open table reservation that i had dietary restrictions. The manager called me at noon on the day of our reservations to review my personal restrictions and upon arriving our waiter was aware of my allergies and the chef had marked up the menu with suitable choices and substitutions that were available. ABSOLUTELY SPLENDID. And not to mention the food was out of this world!!! And not to mention the food was out of this world!!! perfect combinations of flavors and presentation was exquisite. So nice to be able to go out to eat and have someone take care and accommodate my special eating needs. Great experience."

  • "My friends and I had been curious about SALT since its opening and took advantage of Restaurant Week in VB to check it out. I had Asian soup and a chicken sand; my two friends had mussels and one had the chicken sand, the other a pork belly sand, and we were quite pleased with the food. The service was pretty good, except that the two waiters were a bit overworked and it was hard to get the check when we were finished just because the poor kid (who told us he had only worked there a week) was just so busy. I would definitely go back, both for lunch and for a special dinner (it's a bit pricey.)"

  • "I loved this restaurant! We ate here during restaurant week, and the food and service were excellent. This is a wonderful addition to our neighborhood restaurants. The menu offered a variety of choices. It's an Asian fusion menu. The lunch and dinner prices weren't too expensive. I will definitely be a repeat customer!"

  • "A friend and I visited Salt on Saturday night. I was very impressed with the clean, welcoming, simple atmosphere. The hostess greeted us right away and our server was quick to come over and offer water and wine suggestions. The menu was not overwhelming and had a diversity of selections. It was hard to choose what to try because everything sounded wonderful and original. We decided to order six of their appetizers and their soup of the day, of scrumptious oyster stew made with local oysters from the Lynnhaven. Each appetizer they brought our was beautifully presented and tasted fantastic. We even decided to top of the dinner with one of their homemade desserts; 3 oatmeal cookies filled with salt caramel mousse! We can't wait to go back!"

  • "Food was excellent over all, but the real highpoints are the appetizers. The Ahi and crab salad appetizers are awesome. The tenderloin bolgogi wraps are great. I plan on going back to make a meal out of these two items alone! The wait staff was attentive without being obtrusive. Over-all well worth the money. I'll definitely be back."

  • "I wanted to share my favorite restaurant here in our new "home" with my youngest son. It was a perfect evening! After having so many favorites inMinneapolis that were /are wonderful, this experience equaled and maybe even surpassed those! The food, the wine, the service- all 5star quality! Thank you Daniel and Tim!!"

  • "The chef turns out unique and tasty cuisine. However, they don't have their service right. The place was about 2/3 full on a Friday night, nonetheless, the server was slow to greet us, slow to bring drinks and disappeared for way too long between ordering and delivering courses. When she did show up it was to blame a group of seven that arrived before us (who had a different server). Oysters were outstanding. Main course was delicious but lukewarm, it appeared to have sat a while waiting for server to get it to us. Love this place for lunch when there's few other customers, but won't be back for dinner."

  • "Great food and lighting. Loud because of tile floors. Horrible chairs. You need booths and get rid of the plastic covers over the tabletops.... Very cheesy. I would go back because of the food but not that frequent because of the chairs and atmosphere."

  • "We had heard great things, so set up a date night, meeting another couple of friends. Three out of four of us had very good food. We all tasted the fourth entree, and agreed it was not quite right. (the duck, and we came up with a really fun rap-sort-of-chant to describe it's not-quite-right flavor) One of us received our soup, and salad, at exactly the same time. While another one never even saw the butternut squash soup that he ordered. When he mentioned his soup to our server, she just said, "Oh, i never heard you. We won't charge you for it." But, what if he really wanted to eat that soup?!!!!! Kinda weird. The mozzarella app was fantastic. The onion soup was quite good. Beef tenderloin entree was great. Service - just NOT.."

  • "We were happily greeted by our hostess. We arrived to our "reserved" table, right by a window, which was nice. Restaurant was very clean and looked very in order. Table was nicely set. Our server arrived and was very knowledgeable about the wine list and menu offerings. Members of my party had dietary restrictions and had several questions for our waiter, which he answered exceptionally well. What I thought was really nice was that he was genuinely concerned about their restrictions and he was very excited about the menu additions for the evening. Our meals came out at perfect temperatures and visually looked incredible. The taste of our meals was just as wonderful. A very pleasurable evening at Salt."

  • "My wife and I were excited to try Salt, unfortunately our expectations were not met as far as taste was concerned. Everything was fine except for the taste. The service, the presentation, the ambiance, were all very nice. A Bluberry Crush should have "real" blueberries, not just flavored vodka. I had the snapper special my wife had a pasta shrimp dish. Both were incredibly bland. I commented to my wife, "with a name like Salt, you'd think it would have some taste or seasoning.""

  • "We wanted to go some place new on a rainy night and Salt fit the bill. The excellent waiter made us feel right at home, the cocktail was cold and perfect, the food was very good. The highlights were a butternut squash soup, wahoo with brussels sprouts, and a perfect coffee creme brulee. And the wine list is downright inexpensive. In fact, the whole meal was very reasonably priced. We will go back."
