Salt - St. LouisWonderful experienceMy wife and I celebrated our anniversary there. The dinner was one of the best I ever had. The restaurant is beautiful. The staff was a joy to talk to and very knowledgable.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely brunch! We loved our Mothers' Day brunch! The restaurant is a beautifully restored victorian mansion. The dining rooms are on the main floor and feel very intimate and elegant. The service was excellent and the buffet included a very nice selection. There is a small outdoor patio and unique special event spaces on the upper and lower levels. We look forward to another visit and ordering from the menu.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMFun place to dine. We madeFun place to dine. We made meal from small plate menu.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMDefinitely Worth ItI visited Salt with a group of about 10 guys for my older brother's bachelor party and we all came away extremely impressed. The food was exceptional. Even though the menu wasn't exactly extensive, the dishes that we tried were very, very good. The one thing that may have been even better than the food were the cocktails, which were out of this world. My brother, a bartender and quite the booze connoisseur, had very high reviews for our drinks as well. Our server, whose name I wish I could recall, was extremely knowledgeable and did an outstanding job.5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMUnique place in CWEI've been here four times now and really enjoy it. The food is great and it's a unique place in the heart of the city. Definitely a place you want to check out.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBar seatingWe went here to have a few cocktails and possibly a small bite to eat. When we arrived at salt, we asked to sit at the bar. Tim was working, and this guy is the best. Their cocktail menu is about 10 drinks long, but I see this growing in the future. We ordered the andouille appetizer, which was house made and very delicious.
Tim also talked to us about the drinks and what was in them. Also explained a few types of tequilas that's the have in house.
I will definitely be coming back.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AM...and the hits just keep on comingLoved the location and the building. Enter through an impressive bar area. Drinks to start - very well done. Followed by several small plates - smoke scallop, perfectly seared and presented, halibut cheek with poached egg, cioppino and pork belly all expertly prepared. Two large plates - skirt steak with pistachio pesto and sea bass. All extraordinarily prepared. This was our initial visit, but definitely not our last. Well done!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMDeserving of high marks allDeserving of high marks all the way for around... but the serving sizes/portions have gone too far toward small. Majority of dishes in all courses are just a little too small- enough so that it negatively impacts my desire to go back or recommend to a friend._4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMI have been wanting to tryI have been wanting to try Salt for awhile and finally got a night out; and we are regretting not trying it sooner...amazing food, beautiful presentation and can't wait to go back. The upsatirs is awesome...trying to fingure out a party to plan so we can use it!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful, romantic and as promisedI reserved a table for 10 at SALT for my wife's 50th bday. I had never been and only read the reviews which was risky to do for such a unique occasion. But I was not disappointed! The table for 10 was ready and in a beautiful room with a big window. The server was present and had great recommendations for us since we had never been. Instead of trying to "sell us" he seemed to genuinely care about our experience and made great suggestions. The portions were just as he said they would be. My wife said it was absolutely perfect! That's a great review from someone who has been to Eleven Eleven Mississippi, Fleming's, Vin De Set and more!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the Monty Cristo itI had the Monty Cristo it was a great sandwich love the brunch menu!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMDelightfulSalt was delightful. They accomodated an early arrival and didn't make us feel they were doing us a favor. The waitstaff was personable, knowledgable and in short delightful! We enjoyed the evening and will rebook the next time we are in St.Louis4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHad only appetizers and manyHad only appetizers and many small plates. Culinary cocktails were tasty. Risotto, warm mushrooms, gnocchi and duck fat frites were all quite good. Jaffurs Petite Sirah was tasty. Server was up beat, interactive and knew the menu. Helped the meal a lot. Brought someone over to discuss the wine before we ordered. Overall a fun place with good food and cocktails. Would return.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMFabulous! We had a fabulous evening! We took our friends who were in town for the weekend. We all enjoy good food and were treated to a wonderful evening. Our server knew the menu well and we went with his suggestions. All were delicious. I would recommend salt to anyone looking for a fabulous dining experience.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster BrunchWe ate here for Easter brunch, so there was a buffet rather than the usual menu selections. Overall the food was great, especially the roast pork, the scones with clotted cream and home-made marmalade, and the bread pudding. There was a nice variety of items available. Lots of delicious fresh fruit, baked items, two egg casseroles, pork roast, crispy thick bacon, shrimp salad, smoked trout, and more. The only disappointment was the waffle bar (sub-par waffles--not hot off the griddle). Service was excellent, and the setting is lovely. There is a also a nice patio area for al fresco dining when the weather permits.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our first visit toThis was our first visit to Salt going at the suggestion of out-of-town friends who were going to accompany us. Unfortunately we found the service uneven. It started with a menu description by the waiter as being a bit rushed and with far too much information. We couldn't remember it all as we contemplated our selection. We ordered drinks. Three of the four arrived within a few minutes. Finally the fourth arrived a few minutes after that. We had a similar situation with the entrees. The food was good. The chicken fried in duck fat was good if not infrequent treat. Same with the pork belly. Salt is a small plates restaurant and there is the opportunity to share. Fair experience this time. We will give it a second chance.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I celebratedMy husband and I celebrated our 40th anniversary at Salt. We had a marvelous dinner with incredible service and even were presented with a dessert (chocolate cake) to share. I am sure we will be back in the future.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWow.Dined at Salt for the first time last night and was blown away. Perhaps one of the best dining experiences I have had in STL after living here for 5 years. The Server, Daniel really made our night perfect and went above and beyond.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great evening. ItWe had a great evening. It is a little pricey but everything was great.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSalt has been a favorite everSalt has been a favorite ever since my first visit, and have brought many others here. Wonderful food in a delightful setting especially given that you can talk to dinner mates without shouting. The wait staff is knowledgeable, friendly and provide great service.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNice placeThis was my first time going to Salt, I had seen it before from the window of the car and liked the look of the building. I had an old friend coming in town and decided this would be a good time to try it out. As we pulled up to the parking lot (off street parking!), we noticed the beautiful patio with a gazebo structure and vines. Since it is currently winter, I'm not sure what the vines were, but it looks like a great place to eat when it warms up. We arrived earlier than our reservation, but were seated immediately. The interior is very calming, everything is a cream color. We were waited on immediately by a very friendly server and ordered some small plates. My favorite small plate was the gnocchi dish with mushrooms.3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of the best overall experiencesOne of the best overall experiences I've had. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful with making recommendations for food, cocktails, and wine. The food was very good, but not mind-blowing. It's definitely worth trying.3/11/2013 12:00:00 AM
