Everything on the menu sounded great, but it was mostly just O.K. A very limited menu as far as choices, especially for a place that does small plates. I'm a fan of what they attempt to do, but it's not special enough to warrant a return visit.

The food at Salt is incredibly good. The chef packs tons of bold flavor in every bite. Both food and wine have very reasonable price tags. Easily the best fine dining value in st. Louis. Highly recommended.

I had a really nice meal last night at Salt, my second time there. I had a difficult time choosing what to order but I was thrilled with my salad and duck. They do need a better tea selection though.

Chef Wes Johnson and his reputation were both MIA for our visit. Great restaurants don't have many misses. We ordered a number of small plates and the fried chicken. The chicken(2 pc/$18), cooked in duck fat, was excellent, though presentation was unappealing. Served with a mound of rustic mashed potatoes which were barely warm and tasted reheated, and a small cornbread muffin with no hint of jalapeno flavor. Duck rillettes were good; Salt salad unimaginative and unsatisfying. Frites should be crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside. These were shoestrings(nice duckfat but where's the potato?) Three "Sweets" are offered. At 6pm on a weekday they had "run out" of the Tart my wife ordered. NOT a Craft, Nashan or "Beard Award" experience.

We had a show to catch so we had to have an early dinner. This means we can't say much about the bar scene or the atmosphere when the restaurant is full. We can tell you the food was delicious. From the duck fat frites to the soy braised pork cheek and everything in between was perfect. We also enjoyed one of the best bloody marys we have ever tasted. The bacon, egg, and cheese risotto was wonderful and the seared trout was cooked to crispy perfection. I only wish we had gone with more people so we could sample the other items on the menu. Another nice surprise came at the end of the meal, our bill. We have eaten this quality food before but have usually paid double the price. Give Salt a try, you won't be disappointed.

We had taken out of town guests to Salt before and found it impressive. But on this visit despite attentive service, the menu seemed limited and unexciting. Small plate portion sizes were meager. On a Thursday night almost every table was occupied, so Salt's formula must be working for many. Not so for us.

We've been here several times, and this visit didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, service was knowledgable, and the place was busy but it was still easy to carry on a conversation. Thanks for another great experience! The fried chicken is a must.

We enjoyed a fine Easter brunch at Salt, and based on this will no doubt return. The service was very good, and the food excellent. While selection was not as broad as many Easter brunch offerings, it was plenty, and of high quality. The ambiance was enjoyable, and good for conversation.

The food is outstanding. The setting is very unique, beautiful and elegant. It is sun-filled with large windows, hardwood floors and vibrant, colorful artwork in every room. There is a huge bar area in the front which looks like it could be a fun place to have a pre-dinner cocktail or two. There are outdoor dining areas available which look like very pleasant areas to dine if the weather is nice. Our group enjoyed a Sunday brunch which was among the best tasting we have ever encountered. It was served buffet style (for Easter) and was incredibly as tasty as if if had been served ala carte. No mean feat to serve food with flavor and freshness buffet style! "Foodies" will be impressed.
