We enjoy each of our visits to Salt. Each time we go the food is constantly excellent with great flavors and presentation. The staff is very at tentative and hard working. The managers are visible and spend a great deal of time checking on dinners and ensuring that they are meeting everyone's expectation. I strongly reccomend this establishment!

I have fond memories of the pre-Salt dining room at the WBTS. It was cozier and I think I really preferred the menu to the offering that Salt has now. It is clearly very upscale and somewhat cold. The restaurant week fare /selection could have been much better, I think. I love going to the WBTS for old time ssake because in the 1050's I worked in the dining room. I gave it a good rating overall because it is a very classy place and the food is quite good. I do think it was better pre Salt, though.

Food much better than a year ago. Nothing exciting, but fine for a hotel dining room and distinctly better than last year. Deserts mediocre at best, don't seem homemade. Room itself is beautiful if you have a window seat or want a drink/snack by the fire or at the bar but other seats are in high traffic areas. Ate breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast buffet a problem on a Monday morning. About half of items were empty for a long time, a half hour. Breakfast potatoes, scrambled eggs, croissants, smoothies, bacon and parfaits were all missing and not refilled despite a stream of guests complaining. Lunch took two hours and we couldn't find our server to get a check, causing us to be late for a spa appointment.

  • Disappointing experience

My husband and I made reservations at Salt because we had heard such good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, our reservation was not honored and the hostess was more than unapologetic about it- she was actually quite rude. We waited over an hour for our table, but we were never seated. We ended up eating at the bar, hoping that the food would make up for the unfortunate experience we were having. Our food was also disappointing. For the price of the restuarant, the food was not what we would have expected and the way we were treated tarnished the whole experience. I am hoping it was just an off night for the restaurant.

I think the greatest issue at SALT is the lack of oversite by the manager. Staff repeatedly chatting, taking breaks, resulting in long gaps in service. We ordered a flatbread pizza for lunch, and after 20 minutes of waiting and expecting the food, the waitress said they were 'just putting it on' , and this was at 11:30 and not busy. Our second dinner they was again variable. Pasta again tasteless and very starchy. The gnocci was beyond salty - it puckered us and we were sorry we didn't return it. Calimari was only ok. So, despite the hype and decor, the food is wildly between very good and very poor with an undisciplined staff.

Our primary complaint was the huge gaps in service with adequate staffing. We would go 20 minutes at a time without any bar or table service. Our waitstaff was completely missing at breakfast. Some dishes were very good while others were not good at all. We really liked the variations of Brushetta and the mushroom risotto. Pasta was a real weak spot as the boar bolognese and chicken Cavatelli were tasteless with starchy pasta. Overall, an inconsistent experience.

We stayed at The Wentworth by the Sea, therefore, dining at SALT was a given since it is within the Hotel. There service was fantastic, the ambiance romantic and the food was delicious. The prices were quite high, but if you are celebrating, than it's worth the extra $$. They had a great wine selection as well, and specialty drinks. One thing I was VERY disappointed in was the fact that when I made my reservation through Open Table, I indicated on my reservation that we would be celebrating our Wedding Anniversary at dinner, but they made no special gesture or dessert. I would go back again for a special occasion and for their awesome Brunch/Breakfast!

We had learned about SALT through a magazine article and checked it out on-line. It looked like just the place to spend a romantic anniversary dinner. It did not disappoint! The food was amazing, especially the cheese baord, which the waiter and Maitre'D were very knowledgeable about. The mixed grille was amazing and I appreciated that they offer half portions of the pasta dishes, which was just right for me. The short rib papperdelle pasta was excellent. The wine list has some nice offerings including an Argentinian Malbec...can't go wring with that choice! Overall, the staff were very gracious and quick to respond to any queries. I only wish we had visited during the day as the location is spectacular but it was too dark to enjoy

We were late for our reservation and called to let them know that we were lost. They pushed back our reservation a half hour which I did not expect. We were seated immediately when we arrived. My husband and I ordered the lobster bisque and it was excellent. My husband had scallops which he said was the best he had in a long time. I had the beef tenderloin which was also very good and my daughter had the strip steak which she enjoyed. We would definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Nice redesign of the Wentworth Hotel diningroom. Somtimes this doesn't work out. Here it did. The food is still excellent, with some new twists. The Oak Long bar in the Fairmont Copley is an example of what can go wrong. It used to be an outstanding steakhouse. They redesined it for more Tappas style food. Sorry, but I liked the tradition. In Salt they kept much of the original design, but really neatened things up.We started with Flat bread Pizza. Really excellent(their new trademark)I also had a Romaine Salad, very good. I then had the Salmon, excellent overall(med.rare) Richard had the Pork chop, which was thick & juicy. For dessert I had the Gelato sampler(really smooth & flavorful)Richard had the Chocolate Ganache, very nice. Well done.

This is the second time this summer I have been to Salt. This time was with friends. The food is fantastic and the service is top notch. Get there early and enjoy a drink at the lively upscale bar before hand.

Salt is a great addition to area dining, with a beautiful dining room that is simultaneously lovely and open and romantic and, at the same time, is informal enough to allow for a fun and laughter-filled evening. The menu has something for everybody -- from delicious salads to a variety of entrees, including enormous flat bread pizzas with things like carmelized shallots and lobstuh :) Highly recommended.

Celebrating our birthdays we sent to SALT kitchen. Room was pretty but seating a bit bizarre. Our table for two was very long, making it difficult to talk quietly. Appetizer of Tuna Crudo very nice, Salt Baked Beet Salad also nice. My partner wanted the Surf and turf special (Wagyu beef and scallops) but after he ordered was told they had run out. He chose the Carne Mista Mixed Grill. Very small portions of meat, the lamb chop was the best of the dish. I had the Bronzed Diver Scallops and was disappointed. Though the Sweet Pea Raviolis were excellent, the scallops were tasteless. Not sure if they were old or frozen but disappointed in the flavor. Not sure if we will go back.

I had not been to The Wentworth since the dining room changed to Salt. Arriving my friend and I visited the cocktail lounge. The Decor is trendy, yet tasteful with plenty of social & quiet spots. No complaints on service or cocktail quality, but was disappointed that they no longer have music. The piano pipes music ( I had heard) but not on my visit. We were seated promptly and ordered apps to start. The lobster fritters seemed like they came from Sysco. There were 2 on the plate for maybe $10. The insides were cold. The Baby Wedge, focus on 'baby' . Nothing to rave about. The Beef Carpaccio was so dry and gray it resembled beef jerky. It was not even eatable and should never have been served. The main dishes were so so..

We were really excited to eat at Wentworth by the Sea. The food was amazing, but the service seemed hit or miss. Our server was overwhelmed, it was clear that he had too many tables. The bartender watered down everyone's drink. A splash of soda water in an Old Fashioned was by his standards half the glass. After I sent it back, the new drink was less than half full. It was a busy night at SALT and the host and server were very pleasant. I was a little miffed when the manager walked around and asked everyone about their dinner except for our table. It felt like he stereotyped us because we were the only guests in our late 20s, vice the other guests who were all 30+.

We dined at SALT for the first time and were surprised to see how excellent the food was, the service and the attention to detail. Our party of three had a hard time choosing what to have for dinner since all the choices were tempting, and so was dessert. The wine list was excellent and although they were very busy (the night before Mother's Day) the service was prompt and the server, Tara, was pleasant. We will go back since there are items on the menu we wish to try. Glad the Wentworth remolded their stuffy dining room.
