We all argued who made the better choice - tough to decide between the king salmon, halibut, pork/pork belly, and the steak - each of us thought we made the best choice. We had a great night including a great bottle of Pinot from Hope & Grace. My wife and I both had the Pork - outstanding! My brother had the Salmon and loved it. My wife had the Octopus as an appetizer and wasn't thrilled by it.
Overall, a great night and we will be back!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGood first impressionI brought a new colleague here for lunch and had a good experience, which was important because I want our new employees to feel that they are well taken care of and working at an agency that knows how to conduct busines and treat their employees well. A smooth first lunch with good food, served efficiently and in a nice atmosphere is one step towards making new employees feel like they are in good hands at a company that cares. But, the food is AMAZING!! I went for lunch and had roast pork loin over a bed of farrow with spinach, carrots and roasted apples. I would say the best meal I have had out in a very long time. The flavors were incredible, the pork was perfectly cooked and it was hot! It was an absolute memorable evening. I had the pacific cod splashed with the juices from a bowl of the best tasting clams I have ever experienced. Others in the party had a succulent pork tenderloin and the moistest baked chicken imaginable. The veges on the side meshed perfectly with the dishes. The appetizers, which included a creative octopus dish plus peppers served with the freshest Acme bread established the evening. The waiter had professional wine certification and brought us perfectly matched whites and reds within a moderate price range. The desserts were bold but not too heavy and rich. Love the casual cool interior and the food has been consistently great since the day they opened. I work at SFMOMA and it's close enough to meet friends or take out-of-town visitors for lunch. I try to have lunch there once a month. Getting in early and making a reservation is the way to go as it fills up fairly quickly at lunch time. Good food and service. I recommend giving them a try. The food was very unique in that I would not have paired a lot of the foods together, but it worked wonderfully! I liked the fact that this was a smaller place, made the ambience all the more inviting. We had chips with a dipping sauce that was so good I licked the little bowl. The fries with cheese and gravy was also great. The food was good and the service was fine. The only problem is that open table said we did not honor our reservation. Our quail appetiser was delicious. For entree we had cod with clams in broth. The fish was nice and flaky. It was not drowning in broth. Just a nice shallow puddle. Had this with peas and carrots on the side. IThe food was wonderful! I had the grains and vegetables and my friend had the poached egg and vegetables. We're vegetarian, the restaurant isn't. Everything was very flavorful and great portion sizes. The menu changes all of the time and we'll certainly be back. The ambiance is loud but energetic In a good way. I wouldn't recommend this for anyone hard of hearing. On a personal note, I had my first date here with the man I'm engaged to.
