A word from Salsa Puerto Rican and Latin Cuisine
Puerto Rico is the smallest island of the Greater Antilles. Our culture is unique because of every aspect of our history. The melting pot of cultures (Spanish, African, Native Caribbean Indians and North America) creates a unique Puerto Rican heritage resulting in delicious Latin cuisine. Salsa is proud to be the first authentic Puerto Rican restaurant in Nashville. We believe you will love our farm to table inspired menu with fresh local ingredients and the touch of deeply rooted Latin flavor. Our chef brings his knowledge from the culinary capital of the Caribbean and delivers it right to your table.
You will love our cozy, modern, great atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and an extensive list of wine, spirits and beer.
We can’t wait to share our Latin flavor cuisine with you. See you soon.

  • "We visited Salsa on one of our weekend foodie outings since moving to Nashville a few months ago, My husband is Cuban and we grew up in Miami. Hubby ordered the Roba Viejo with Tostones and I had chicken stuffed with a sweet plantain. Both were very good, not large portions but satisfying along with our house salad and the Black Bean Humus appetizer. My issues with the place were:1. We asked for their Mango vinegarette dressing, only to have the waitress came back and said Mangos were not in season and they didn't have the dressing! ITS SUMMER, Mango ARE in Season..😁 2. I ordered a $10 Mojoito, not the best, plus it sat on the bar forever before waitress brought it to me! lastly no Black Beans and rice, my favorite.."

  • "This is the second time I visited Salsa, and again was disappointed at the service. With only a handful of dishes worth going for (chef does a good job), the service leaves a lot to be desired. I wish there was a negative star for food."

  • "So glad we came! Every bite was great. We were not accustomed to Latin Cuisine so the server was able to suggest things we'd like and the menu Also does a great job of explaining as well. The margaritas, although $10, Were the best I have EVER had! Homemade mix=amazing!"

  • "Ate dinner at Salsa with 3 friends. Service was friendly and reasonably prompt. Food was disappointing. Fried items were the best."

  • "Food was unique and interesting. Service was excellent. The restaurant was quiet that night (which was particularly nice, given how loud and crowded everything was in Nashville that week). This place is worth checking out!"

  • "So excited to have found this place. The food was delicious and authentic--had the carne frita and tostones. The dessert sampler was to die for. The staff were friendly, the service was great and they have parking. Can't say enough good things about Salsa. Will definitely be back."

  • "Pleasantly surprised, really good Puerto Rican / Latin food ---- this is NOT Mexican food. Excellent sangria, would love to come back for other things on the menu. Soup is a little spicy/salty"

  • "Food was great! Our party of 7 was a little cramped at a little table crammed between two other tables, but that is really my only complaint. "

  • "How often do you have a party of 12 where everyone raves about their food and the service?? Salsa met the challenge and then some!! Our group included people between the ages of 3-78, and no one could say a bad word about their experience. The menu was a challenge since we are not fluent in Spanish or Puerto Rican cuisine, but the staff (and even the chef) took the time to explain each dish and make suggestions. Every dish was cooked to perfection and the portions were huge. We highly recommend the churassco (skirt steak) and the hummus. The can-can (pork) was also a huge hit, but make sure you are hungry for this 30-something ounce piece of meat!! Great prices and drinks too!! Don't miss it!"

  • "We were travelling through Nashville and found Salsa on Open Table. It was a great find and we were thrilled with the experience. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and fast. We sampled their sangrias, ordered many traditional Puerto Rican appetizers, and the main dishes were outstanding. We have 3 kids, 2 of whom are very picky, and there was more to the menu than just Puerto Rican favorites to satisfy them. I wish this place lots of success."

  • "I really wanted to love this restaurant, but alas, it wasn't meant to be. The service was exceptional -- when we couldn't decide on drinks, our waiter brought us three free samples of some of their special cocktails, which were fairly priced. In fact, the prices were quite reasonable overall. However, despite our server's cheerful enthusiasm, the food was mediocre at best. We ordered the crab empanada appetizer and it tasted like something out of the package from Trader Joe's -- not terrible, just plain and forgettable. Our ahi tuna entree arrived as a few big slabs on the plate, dry and bland. The plantain side tasted like cardboard. If you're expecting spicy flair, this isn't the place. Seating was limited and uncomfortable."

  • "The food was great but the kitchen was slower than slow. What should have been a 2 hour dinner took 3 hours. And the restaurant was not busy, so I'm not sure what the issue was. Also, the bar drinks were disappointing pre-mixes. But, the food did rock so I will try this place again."

  • "We traveled to Nashville for a very special occasion. We are native Puerto Ricans and were very excited to find a restaurant. When we got there it was empty. So we thought we'd be ok with a party of 15. The service was horrible. It took 40 minutes for everyone to get their drinks and about 2 hours for all dinner to be served. It was served in a "tapa" manor and priced at a gourmet rate. The waiter never apologized nor offered explanations for the delays and kept forgetting the order. When it was brought to the attention of the manager he made no attempt of customer recovery. It's a shame! Gives us Puerto Ricans a bad name in such a prominent city were we could really stand out for our delicious cuisine. Should have gone to a local bbq!"

  • "I'm so glad I found this gem! I love the cuisine here. Similar to Cuban dishes I've had before. Excellent pork - super juicy and seasoned to perfection. The app we had was hands down a show stealer - the Relleno de Papa de Carne. Don't miss it. We had very attentive service and the drinks were good. The Puerto Rican punch is only $6 and packs a serious wallop. This is in a great spot, in between Cummins Station and Mercy Lounge, with plenty of free parking. When it's warmer, the patio will be an ideal spot for hanging downtown without being right on top of people/tourists. I'll definitely be back."

  • "The food was great. Everything we tried was really good. I especially like the trip thru Puerto Rico because it allows you to try 3 dishes and share. Got a the pernil--I think is the Cuban pulled pork, roja vieja--a shredded beef--I may have them mixed up. Anyway, they were both tender and full of flavour. You must try the pastelon de ammarillos--our 3rd dish. It's like lasagna but made with plantains instead of pasta.OMG!! So tasty. Also had mofongo--a fried ball of mashed up yucca or plantains--it was great. We enjoyed everything we had here so just go, you won't be disappointed. As for drinks--the piña colada was great. My friends had a mojito and wine which they enjoyed. I also had the Puerto Rican punch which was pretty good too."

  • "Drew seated us and waited on us in March. We love the food and atmosphere here. Drew was very friendly and had a great attitude. We will be back soon. I hope it stays around for a while. Make reservations because this place is starting to be busy on weekends."

  • "After taking a couple months to build the business, I'm so thrilled to see this place finally busy. The food was excellent. They have outdoor seating with a great view of downtown, which will be really nice once it gets warmer. If you like latin food, you must try this place -- nothing else in Nashville is remotely close. Lastly, you MUST order desert. We tried the sampler, and struggled to pick a favorite from the 2 versions of flan and dulce de leche -- all sooooo good."

  • "They handled a reservation for 12 with ease. Great service and great food. It's tucked away, but it's right in the middle of the gulch. Looks like they have great outdoor seating as well!"

  • "First time we have eaten Puerto Rican food and it was great. Tried the sampler appetizer and then had the meal for two sampler followed by the dessert sampler; all were terrific. It is mostly fried but that enhances the taste. So, unless you are totally opposed to fried food, you will enjoy this. Service was friendly and fast. Background music didn't interfere with low voice conversation."

  • "Not on the beaten path but just off Broadway. You're not going to get Mexican but you are going to get island favorites done right. The fried green plantains are fantastic. The stuffed pork loin was perfectly cooked and the yellow rice is amazing. For desert make sure you get the coconut custard."

  • "On Valentine's Day '14 I I made dinner reservations. I was running a little late so I called to inform the restaurant. They assured me that it was not a big deal. To only come to find out that it was because they were not busy at all. Which should not be the case. The food was extremely delicious and well prepared. I am Puerto Rican so I think the food was a little over priced. But a few extra steps were taken at this establishment to ensure the customer gets a 5 star experience."

  • "The food was great. We got the trip through Puerto Rico with several dishes that are uncommon in nashville. The overall meal was very good and I expect that we'll be coming back. It was a quiet restaurant who we ate, but it was pretty early that day. I've heard that they're busy around lunch and I hope they're busy in the later evening. The place has a trendy vibe with old-school Caribbean chow. It's very refreshing to find a place that has both the Caribbean influences along with a little Central America. I think it'd satisfy a serious foodie and I hope its out if the way location (over near Cummins Station and Mercy Lounge) doesn't hurt it. Nashville needs more places like this."

  • "At 8:00 on a Friday night, there was one table of 2 people at Salsa when we arrived. they left & for a while we were the only customers until another couple came in later. started with calamari, which was quite good. caesar salad was pretty good, the other salad, walnut and blue cheese, we ordered seemed out of a package. only fair. entrees were ok, not horrible, but certainly not what I would consider good ... or worth spending money on. service was fine. there was something about the place that I liked, so I hope the food improves. Until I hear from sources that I know and trust, I will not be going back to find out. I might try lunch sometime, nothing more. Very uninspiring & mediocre at best. not worth spending money on. Disappointing."

  • "Salsa serves good Puerto Rican fare with excellent service. We had both beef and fish, and both were cooked exactly as we ordered them. The prices are quite reasonable. For two tourists, Salsa was a welcome break from heavy Southern food. And there's parking right in front."

  • "We enjoyed Salsa very much. The staff was very friendly & accommodating. Food was very good, perfectly seasoned & unique. We were there for Saturday lunch & it was empty, which is discouraging because it really is a good place. Hopefully more people will discover this little gem."

  • "We enjoyed dining at Salsa last Saturday night. The waitstaff was particularly good and the chef came out to speak with us about our meal. We liked the touches. We selected medleys of appetizers, entrees, and dessert. We expect to return soon."

  • "We were surprised we didn't find the restaurant more crowded on a Friday evening. There were a half-dozen or so folks at the bar that's located at the front of the one large room that contains the entire dining area. There is a nice-sized deck with several tables outside with about a 40% good view, but it was a little chilly for anyone to enjoy it. Only about four or five other tables were occupied while we were there. The menu contained some Cuban-inspired items not common in our area, such as yucca and plantains. Great cocktail menu too. Our sever was very helpful and provided us with recommendations. We ordered a couple of appetizers and a large entrée designed to be shared. Everything was fantastic."

  • "I found Salsa restaurant on opentable.com for a same day reservation. I had never heard of it before but thought the menu seemed interesting. Ceviche was on the menu and that is rare for a Nashville restaurant. It's tucked away behind the offices of Cummins Station, near Mercy Lounge. We tried both sangrias which were yummy. The sweet plaintains and ceviche were absolutely delicious! We also ordered the pernil which is basically smoked pork and it was delicious - highly recommended. We had beautiful weather on the patio and the view was spectacular. We will definitely be back. I truly hope this restaurant becomes more popular because our server was great, the food was fabulous, and the patio view can't be beat. Go try it!"

  • "My husband and I went here for a date night. We sat outside and enjoyed the cool, quiet night air. We ordered empanadas for stayers which were great. I enjoyed an authentic mojito. Service was fast, courteous and balanced. My husband is Puerto Rican and I am of Cuban descent so our standards were high. The mofongo was tasty and my husband ropa vieja too. My churrasco was tender and I liked the inventive sauce used to jazz it up from the traditional chimmichurri most places might offer. I'd go again and I'd go in a group for fun after work or to celebrate a special event."

  • "We tried Salsa for the first time this past Saturday night. It was FABULOUS!! Our server, Gabrielle, did a fantastic job of guiding us through the menu and helping us select the perfect options for our tastes. The food was DELICIOUS and the portion size, generous. Food is obviously prepared with great care and the flavors are "homemade". We tried 3 WONDERFUL, IN-HOUSE-MADE DESSERTS, all prepared by the owner's wife. Well-worth the splurge. A DELIGHTFUL EXPERIENCE from start to finish. Give Salsa a try. You will not be disappointed. We will definitely be returning."

  • "We arrived to a private party and were told we could sit at the bar even though we had a reservation. Upon protest we were seated at a table. The server was very polite but inexperienced. I got the feeling this was more of a bar than a restaurant and she was used to being a cocktail waitress. We were disappointed further with the food. We moved here from the East Coast (NYC, DC), and were excited to find a Puerto Rican restaurant in Nashville, but the yuca was just awful and the pork was only ok. It seemed like they maybe had rushed the stewing process. Overall, I can see why there was a private party. It's a beautiful view of downtown. But, this is not a restaurant I would recommend for anything more than a cocktail with a view."

  • "Salsa provides a more unique menu of Puerto Rican and Latin dishes that are not available in Nashville. The food is good and somewhat different with reasonable prices. I hope enough people will give this casual gem a chance as it provides something not found elsewhere. Especially like the Puerto Rican lasagna made with eggplant and plantains."
