  • "Salsa 17 has great food, table side guacamole carts and a fun atmosphere. It is a somewhat small restaurant, and they do good business so the wait times can be very long. I recommend reservations, and you'll still wind up waiting a bit. Drinks are great too. It's good for groups, if you can plan ahead of time. They also are open late so late night dinners are an option too."

  • "I'd been to this location before when it was Fuego in downtown Arlington Heights, but this was my first time back as Salsa 17. Went for a client lunch and it wasn't busy at all, which was nice. The service was fantastic, staff very nice and attentive, food was very tasty (definitely recommend the tableside guacamole and steak fajitas!) and had enough to bring home leftovers (which the waiter gave us extra chips for the leftover guacamole) My only two "complaints" if you want to categorize them as that, was that I wanted to pay with my business American Express and they don't accept AMEX, and the music was a bit loud, so it was a little hard to converse. But other than that, great experience and very tasty food."

  • "We had not been to this restaruaunt since it was called Fuego. I was happy to see that it had not changed. The guacamole made at your table was terrific. I had the Tostaditas with shredded beef. The looked great when set in front of me, and tasted even better. We went on a week night so it was not too crowded. I receommend for a nice evening out if you are in the mood for good Mexican food."

  • "Salsa 17 is a favorite of ours when we go to the Metropolis which is just on the next block. The parking garage makes it easy to get to. The food is great, and a good variety. The prices are reasonable. Definitely get the guacamole prepared at the table! Some of the drinks are fun and different, but you can always get a traditional margarita. The sangria is great too! The only problem is when I forget to book a reservation far in advance!"

  • "We have dined at this restaurant many times and it seems in the past fee months the food has lost it's quality! My husband orders the chicken special and although the sauce had gods flavor the chicken breast were very overdone. The same with our friends chicken dish. We will try this restaurant one more time but they really need to step up a bit to keep us as patrons."

  • "Salsa 17 has the most diverse menu I've ever seen at a Mexican restaurant. I always find myself intrigued by one or more of the mole sauces, or special of the day. I find that I want to work my way through the rest of the menu before I try any of the tacos, burritos, or other more familiar offerings...even though I'm certain their tacos will be as excellent as everything else!"

  • "I have dined and Salsa 17 several time and every time I leave satisfied and full. This past Saturday night was no exception. I was with a group of 4 and we were able to get a seat at the bar as we arrived early for our reservation. We were seated on time and food was tremendous as it has been in the past. My complaint is service, we had several misses from failure of getting chips with the table side prepared guacamole to forgotten drink orders. Nobody was rude, just lacking attention to details to put this restaurant on another level. If you can overlook some service shortfalls, this is a great restaurant."

  • "We usually order from the Chef Special menu, but the table next to us received a plate of chile rellenos; I needed something like that. Ordered the rellenos with lamb (not on the website) and my wife ordered the lamb "Birria de Borrego." For both, I've never had such tough pieces of lamb. The "tender lamb shank" (menu description) was anything but; the lamb pieces on my plate were just as tough, if not more so. I grew weary of trying to cut the lamb off the bone for my wife and finally gave up. Then, mistakenly, we ordered plantain crepes. I believe the plantains (minutely sized tidbits) must have been peeled and cut 5-6 days ago and left out on the counter before being tossed in the sauce and served. What happened, Salsa 17?"
