SalpicónGreat Tequila, Guac and ServiceI LOVE Salpicon and was reminded of that this week. This is not your typical Mexican restaurant....it's Mexican for gormands. The vegetable soup with tortillas was amazing as was the guacamole. Their fish items are always a favorite too. But, the thing you cannot leave without trying is a Margarita. Salpicon has a very comprehensive list of tequilas and our waiter knew about all of them suggesting an Anjeho that was comforting and complemented the day's unseasonably cold weather. I was too full for dessert, but they always have a great selection including exotic sorbet choices. I cannot wait to go back.5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!Salpicon never disappoints.Inventive Chef creates wonderfully seasoned and flavorful entrees. If your idea of Mexican food is burritos and tacos then this isnt the place for you. This is a great example of Mexican cuisine beyond the stereotype.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMtequila lime sorbet with serranotequila lime sorbet with serrano chiles infused was TO DIE FOR.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is our favorite restaurantThis is our favorite restaurant in Chicago. Excellent food and outstanding service.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mexican restaurant.Great Mexican restaurant. You can't go wrong (unless you're looking to eat a burrito, taco or some other Tex-Mex dish). The menu was outstanding. They have a huge wine list. Our waiter was the best. He took his time to explain the history of the place, the chef along with the entire menu. We had a great time.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Mexican! Our anniversary - and it was a fun spot, with excellent food. :)3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMI went to Salpicon with myI went to Salpicon with my fiancee on a Saturday night. We have a 500+ bottle wine cellar and I must say that Salpicon has one of the most amazing wine lists I have ever seen. For example, you can find on their list Caymus Special Selection wines from nearly ten different vintages. There are two pages just devoted to Williams Selyem wines. We had a bottle of a 1995 Beringer Single Vineyard Merlot that you would be hard pressed to find at any other restaurant. The meal was outstanding from the appetizer to the main course to finally the dessert. We were there for over three hours. While this wasn't our first time at Salpicon, the experience was so enjoyable that we could have gone back there the next night.3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat and very tasty foodGreat and very tasty food and an amazing selection of tequila.2/24/2013 12:00:00 AMPleasant but priceyBill for two people came to $111.00 with tip. I found it pricey for what was offered. The shimp in garlic (camaron al mojo de ajo) was good and the torte of mango and pear was delicious. But as I say too pricey for what we received. Wont go back but don't regret trying it out. Pleasant waiter who was helpful.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
