A word from Salito’s
The setting is quintessential Sausalito--the deck overlooking Richardson Bay and the boats passing by, sunshine and a day to relax and enjoy seafood, prime rib, fresh oysters,Dungeness crab and many varieties of salumi. Early morning beignets with dipping cream sauces and a cup of cafe du monde chicory coffee with straus cream is a great way to start the day. Casual dining any day of the week at a Sausalito institution.

  • "It was so much fun to sit by the water at night--they keep the patio heaters on full blast so you can sit outside and enjoy dinner even on a cool night. I would say you should go there for the view and experience more than for the food, which was fine but not memorable. Not inexpensive either. Great service. We pushed our reservations back at the last minute and they were still able to seat us promptly. I will return again for a drink on a sunny day."

  • "We had out of town guests and thought Salito's would be a good choice since they wanted to try Cioppino. We ordered the special bread - cold & hard; the butter was good. Then the rest of our order which included oysters, salads and entrees were all served at the same time. So we had to ask them to hold our main entrees. The restaurant was empty on on this Friday night, so couldn't understand the rush. The Cioppino that we were all looking forward to was served in a pretty tureen, but lukewarm. The broth tasted like spaghetti sauce out of a can. My husband had the Basa and that was very good. It was not worth the money and felt bad for our guests who were looking for a great Cioppino."

  • "Great seafood, wonderful service. The only negative for us...we didn't realize how "open" to the out doors even the "inside" part of the dining room would be. Even with over head heaters (which the staff happily turned on for us) we were cold. We would have and should have dressed more warmly for this cool spring night. This, however, will be our go to place next time we have a heat wave and want a cool place to eat. Wonderful, attentive staff. Great relaxed atmosphere and LOVED our food. I had the butterfish and it was very very tasty."

  • "Salito's is a great place to enjoy crab and other seafood while enjoying a fantastic view from the shores of Sausalito. Get a spot on the deck on a sunny day and you'll be happy. The service can be a little slow because this place is very popular. But if you order a drink, like the Chilli Beer and you won't care."

  • "Salito's is always a great choice for patio dining with a water view. They do have heaters as the evening develops a chill. The food is just ok, nothing really special or creative. Regardless, the service is usually excellent and it's a fun environment. We would recommend with the knowledge it isn't really fit for foodies."

  • "Two friends and I met here for brunch. We sat inside but at a fabulous table with a completely open window so we felt like we were outside. It was a heavenly day in Sausalito. We all live in Marin but felt like we were on vacation. Our waiter Marcos was more than accommodating. We all decided for the crab enchiladas. There wasn't a morsel left on my plate. Yum! For me, this is a place where you go for that "on-vacation" feeling. I don't go for the food or the service, but neither were lacking."

  • "We've been here before for lunch on the deck, and decided to come for dinner on Valentine's Day. Food was great: I had sand dabs and my wife had salmon. There are four different oysters on the menu, so we had the Point Reyes and Tomales Bay oysters, both excellent. The problem was the noise level, something we should've thought of before making the reservation. Oh well, while we won't be back for a romantic evening, we will come back again. Definitely worth it."

  • "The place was disorganized and overbooked. People with reservations had to wait 45 minutes for a table. We'd still be sitting at the bar, had we not reminded the staff that we had yet to be seated. When our food was delivered, we had to wait (again) for utensils. In summary, it felt like opening night, when you expect chaos, missteps, etc. Food was good."

  • "When we arrived for our 7:30 pm reservation the staff acknowledged that we had one but then asked if we wanted to "be on the waiting list". Waiting list?? We were told it would be half and hour before we could be seated and, naturally, were invited to go to the bar and drink while waiting. Obviously they had seriously overbooked. The place is clearly badly managed. NEVER AGAIN!"

  • "I've been to this place several times in the past and really liked it. It has a great feel to it and the Sausalito Harbor is just outside the window. On a warm afternoon, you can sit outside and be completely happy. This time we went in the evening. The "fish and chips" was greasy and overfried. The fish inside was quite good, so all was not lost, but not like I remembered. The sand dabs were lost in a the array of vegetables/rice inside the iron skillet. Nice presentation, but not so good in the food department. The wine was considerably overpriced - $40 for a bottle of the not-so-good variety. However, the service was quite good. The people there were friendly, accommodating and helpful. A nice evening, but not as good as I hoped."

We could not get in so we open tabled Salitos. .When we arrived, the place was half empty. the restaurant claims to specialize in crab. We all ordered a whole crab, crab bisque, and crab pasta. Everything was mediocre. We won't be going back."

  • "We've been to salito's many times. The food is always good, the service excellent, attentive, and friendly. And the view on the deck is great. It's crowded on weekends so I'd recommend reservations. Great place to get together with a group and hang out on the deck in the sunshine. They don't rush you. Their skillet meals, especially the sand Dan's, are delicious !"

  • "Nice brunch at Salito's, where I had a nice surprise. I had driven by for years, thinking it was a Happy Hour scene. Actually, it's a lovely space with a great view of the bay from the Sausolito shore. We met our friends and their baby there, (it's family friendly), and had a great Sunday brunch, starting with the tasty house 'Chili Mary'. We stated brunch itself with the lemon-dressed green salad, very good, then moved on the the seafood-themed menu. I loved my crab benedict, though it was not super-warm. Beware ordering the most popular thing on the menu, stacked up and ready to go. My friends had crab omlettes and the shrimp skillet. All were delicious and theirs were actually hot! Nonetheless, it was a lovely time and we'll be back."

  • "We went for a family brunch over Christmas and had the most enjoyable experience. We had a group of 8 ranging from 10 years old to 75 years old. Everyone loved it. The hostess, manager and waiter were so nice and attentive. I honestly can't say enough about the service. we sat outside (yes in December) and they kept checking in to make sure we weren't too hot or too cold. They treated us so well. You can't beat the view of the bay and the food was great too. We will make this brunch an annual event for sure!"

  • "My family and I enjoyed our visit. From the moment we got into the restaurant down to the last minute. The restaurant and its staff were awesome. The food was great. The ambiance was great. Even though it was cold out, we sat outside on the very ample outside deck as the deck was very well heated. Our waitress was very attentive. She even gave us the heads up that they were out of the beignets, although we were disappointed we ordered two other desserts and we were not disappointed any longer. I have already recommended the restaurant to my boss, coworkers and friends."

  • "We were disappointed. The location and view are attractive but unfortunately the food was boring, bland, and greasy. The dining area was cold so we had to eat with our coats wrapped around us. Ambiance inside was a hodge podge of antique toy trucks hanging from the ceiling, rows of little liquor bottles and some nautical stuff. Cocktail list - most simply had 3 ingredients, nothing exciting. We had a grilled whole crab - it had seemingly been dunked in oil - it had no flavor, was just greasy. We also had the prime rib which was good but creamed spinach on side had no flavor. Service excellent. Overall, too many places in this (high) price range with excellent, exciting food to go to so we won't go back here."

  • "French dip was fatty--disappointing for a prime rib restaurant. Salad portions were very small for an entree salad. Iceberg wedge with bacon and blue cheese was chopped iceberg with blue cheese, barely any bacon. Ceasar was "meh" Brussel sprouts were mushy and cooked with capers. Bacon alleged by the menu was scant. View was amazing. Service was very enthusiastic, but his enthusiasm for some of the dishes was unfounded."

  • "We found Salito's through OpenTable. We wanted dinner reservations in Sausalito without much notice...and we wanted a view...and it was Saturday night during the holidays. No problem. Their speciality is seafood. All four of us enjoyed our meals. I had halibut with their special spicey pepper bacon sauce -- very creative, very delicious. Two others had sand dabs and loved them. The last had a crab omelette that he enjoyed. The desserts were creative -- they had binnets, you don't see those often outside New Orleans. I had the salted caramel vanilla crunch cake -- think cheesecake with salted caramel layers and a crunchy crust -- delicious! The atmosphere is "family". This isn't a trendy place next to the art galleries. Loved it."

  • "Went for a Christmas Day Lunch. Seated immediately because we had reservations, place was packed. Waited 15 minutes before a server showed up. Got menus and ordered drinks. Took another 10 mins before drinks arrived then had to wait another 5 mins for the server to show up again. Placed our orders. Appetizers, Salads and one Fish & Chips, one Crab Omelet and a Seafood Cioppino and Kettle bread. Appetizers arrived. I ordered oysters but wanted some tabasco sauce. Couldn't locate the server so had to go locate the sauce myself and bring it back to the table. Salads arrived a little while after that, still no bread. Main dishes arrived Cioppino and two Fish and Chips. Server wrote the order wrong. Over all a bad dining experience."
