The staff was most gracious and attentive, allowing us take our time to chat and catch up. Friends from Chicago, Walnut Creek, San Francisco and Forestville were able to sit and chat for a few hours. It ismost helpful that the restaurant has a parking lot and the view is wonderful. Very open, on the water, indoor/outdoor feel throughout, but the food was never that great. They have turned it into Salito's with a focus on crab and that was a great move. The food was reasonably priced and delicious....we had roasted mussels, pasta with crab and alfredo sauce. We also had salmon. All the food was well prepared and attractively presented. They bake the bread to order for the table...a whole loaf of sourdough....served nice and warm. (They do charge for the bread, but at 95 cents, it is well worth it!). Service was nice and friendly. They have consistently fresh, delicious food, and the cocktails are quite yummy too (try basil or cucumber martini). Salads and Crab to die for. Crab Enchiladas were excellent. Our servers were on top of everything. No waiting for drinks or extras. Weather and view were absolutely perfect. Very quaint, relaxing and yet the positive energy from other patrons precipitated by staff and ambiance were 2nd to known. It seems like a really happening place that locals like to frequent and reward themselves with. Best thing we have experienced since Newport and Laguna Beach venues without all the people. My wife's fried calamari left a little to be desired but overall, the experience was good. Enjoyed some very good seafood dishes and a few of the new breakfast menu items for Mother's Day. Smaller portions and not cheap, but not overly expensive for what you get (in Sausalito). It was great to sit out on their large waterfront deck in the sun. Wine and beer selection is extensive.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday Evening in SausalitoWe had a very nice dinner at Salito's on Sunday and enjoyed watching the activity in Richardson Bay as we dined. The bread is wonderful and comes hot in a skillet. The side salads were delicious and the house dressing had a wonderful fresh flavor. Three of us had different types of fish with the lemon-butter sauce and cous cous pasta. The only negative comment is that the cheese plate appetizer was smaller than we expected for the price and did not come with crackers or bread to use with the cheese. Wonderful view onto the harbor - watch boats and kayakers in the water.
Crab sandwich was amazing! and we were jealous of the table next to us who got a seafood grill mix that is served hot on a grill pan. Chimal our waiter was excellent with his charm and attentiveness. The seafood and prime rib were outstanding. The view out to the bay was also equally as exquisite. When we arrived we were seated promptly by a friendly hostess, but we noticed that after she sat us-she was done! Usually at that point drinks would be requested, etc. so we sat and waited for our server for about 15 minutes. My husband noted that our waiter seemed to be the only one on the patio at the time, however there were numerous bus boys raoming around in grubby black T-shirts. Two suggestions would be-make it more of a team effort, especially when you can see customers who have been waiting a while for a drink-let the hostess start some drink orders...Also-get the bus boys nicer attire! The crab, salads, oysters and shrimp cocktail were excellent!... as was the very personal and attentive service. And, of course, the view was lovely. And even though we were seated right at the edge of the balcony, we were plenty warm thanks to the space heaters.
