SalinasSecond TimeAs good as the first. It is a great ambience with terrific food.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSecond time I've been hereSecond time I've been here and I it's just as great as I remember! The paella was amazing! The tapas were delicious (the salad especially). I don't remember the names of the tapas I ordered, but of the four that I did order, I wasn't disappointed by any. Great place! waiters were amazing and always nicely decorated. Now that it's summer they opened the roof of their patio and it looks amazing!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe partly roofed garden isThe partly roofed garden is beautifully decorated and very nice to enjoy a delicious meal! My friend and I had early dinner and there was a nice breeze and fresh air. Definitely try the fideo and fried garbanzo beans!5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA terrific tapas experience!A terrific tapas experience! Great food, lovely atmosphere, competent and attentive service.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA Perfect EveningIn NYC for only a couple of nights, we wanted to try some new restaurants and are so glad we found Salinas. Everything was perfect: food, ambience, service, wine. We stuck mostly with traditional tapas, and while the dishes we chose may not have been the most adventurous, they were each delicious and every ingredient was present and had obvious presence. I am not a dessert person, but my partner ordered dessert and I snuck several bites - which never happens - because it was so good. Highly recommended, especially if the weather is nice and the glass roof is open in the back.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWould DIne here againGood Food, Good atmosphere. Quiet and Casual. Sit in the "garden" on a nice day.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful, sophisticated &Beautiful, sophisticated & romantic candlelit setting with delicious Spanish tapas. Loved it!4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA Wonderful EveningWe've been wanting to go to Salinas since seeing the show featured on a cooking show last year. From the moment we walked in we were treated graciously and able to sit at a booth style table usually reserved for 4. Very romantic corner! As for food, it was all outstanding. Our selections included the fried artichokes, bacon wrapped quail, hake and suckling pig which we shared and devoured. Quite an accomplishment since I am not a meat eater. Also tried the special dessert cocktail which was akin to drinking a chocolate covered cherry. A perfect evening.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMSalinas was a delight. TwoSalinas was a delight. Two girlfriends and I shared a number of the delicious tapas...particularly loved the cauliflower and enjoyed the best paella we've ever had. The atmosphere is warm, charming and friendly. It was a wonderful evening and I will highly reccomend Salinas to my friends and colleagues.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMSimply Amazing!I made reservations for Salinas as a night out celebrating my wife's birthday. After enjoying a performance at the Joyce Theater I wanted to keep the "Spanish" theme for the night. Since my wife lived in Barcelona for a few years I figured Salinas would be a perfect place. Let me tell you, Salinas did not disappoint!
When my wife saw the menu selection, her face lit up with joy. It was like she was transported back to Barcelona. And that was only the beginning. The service was excellent. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The cocktail selection was very creative and delicious. As for their wine selection, although we did not order any, they probably have the best Catalan wine selection in NYC. Lastly, the food was divine!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMStars in alignmentSometimes the stars align and you couldn't imagine things going any better. I went to Madison Square Garden to watch a friend who was fighting live on NBC and although he lost a controversial decision, the fight was the impetus for me being in NY in the first place and the excuse to invite my old flame to come down from Connecticut to meet me. If you want romantic ask for table 73, it's the corner booth, where you can both sit side by side. This is without a doubt the best table in the restaurant. Her blue eyes somehow even radiated more against the lush blue velvet cushions. I told her my new favorite thing was white Rioja and she laughed and said it was hers as well. I ordered a lovely bottle and the razor clams and Jamon Iberico.5 stars4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGood timeThe ambiance and service were great at salinas! Even though the restaurant was packed, it never felt like people were on top of me. Was able to have a conversation, and not be distracted by the tables next to us. The food and drinks were great, would definitely recommend the paella. The decor was beautiful, and the restaurant is definitely a great date spot or a night out with some friends4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! Great food! FreshGreat place! Great food! Fresh Flowers everywhere. Thumbs up Salinas4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWho knew-such a great place on 9th.Wow, you say as you enter, what a beautiful place, I hope the food measures up. It does, and it does so with great rewards. The small plates are deliciously different, the tastes are unusual, everything is just excellent. Go and enjoy.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat find in the neighborhoodGreat find in the neighborhood without crazy prices; cocktails and other libations very good and complement the tapas/appetizers nicely. Wine list a bit short, yet some nice pics for entrees and dessert. Dinners are lovely; brunch is crazy good!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMSophisticated Tapas near the JoyceWe had only tapas, but were very pleased with them. They were unusually creative and tasty--a more sophisticated version of traditional tapas. We especially enjoyed the Caldo and Pulpo and the desserts--a rich flan with lightly elegant slightly sweet white foam and crumbs of a cookie--a nice variation of the traditional; and a membrillo "sandwich" which again a sophisticated upgrade on the usual membrillo with cheese. For me, my usual favorite tapas of gambas al ajillo was too rich, wit only 3 or 4 gambas, a minor disappointment for me, but my wife loved them. The ambiance was a pleasant surprise, as it's more elegant than most in the neighborhood. And it's just one long block from the Joyce Theater. We plan a return visit to their garde4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHad such an amazing time withHad such an amazing time with my girlfriend, would definatly recommend to anyone4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good food but the portionsVery good food but the portions are tiny. Beautiful decor. Excellent service, courteous staff. I will come back.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gem discovered!Upon entering you are greeted by the beautiful scent of fresh flowers and friendly staff. The ambiance is romantic, intimate, and cozy. We had cocktails while we looked over the menu, the "Salud" and "La Mora" both were delicious and very refreshing. We chose four tapas; Gambas Al Ajillo, Queso Al Horno, Panceta Con Calabaza, and the Codorniz Con Membrillo. All were mouth watering but our favorite was easily the Codorniz! We also shared Paella and a pitcher of sangria. Although we were quite full after our tapas we could not stop eating the paella, it was too good! The service was great from bus boys to our waiter! It was a fantastic experience. A new favorite!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis meal was one of the bestThis meal was one of the best I've had in a while. Great spot. Get the New Amsterdam or La Campesina for a cocktail. Anything octopus. Whole meal was delicious. Had the Spanish profiteroles for dessert...omg3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Chef and wine selectionFood and room were great, really enjoyed the food and the wines from Spain3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMA Real FindWe just love this restaurant. It is near theater and is yummy and beautiful. This was our second experience and we cannot wait to return.3/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat blend between classicalGreat blend between classical Spanish and nouveau Spanish. Pimientos de Padron, which one can only get in August in Spain, were outstanding.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMJust an adorable gem. BeautifulJust an adorable gem. Beautiful space, not overly fussy and a real treat.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAll Around Amazing ExperienceWe would go back in a heartbeat. From the moment you walk in, you are greeted by a very friendly and competent staff. We had a glass of wine at the bar before being seated in the dining room, which was beautiful. There were flowers everywhere and the limestone walls and lighting balanced the rich, blue upholstery. Definitely a romantic spot.
The food was amazing. We're pretty picky about our tapas and this place did not disappoint. From presentation to preparation, each piece was flawless. We highly recommend this place.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ambiance and tastefullyExcellent ambiance and tastefully done decor for a cozy evening out with friends. Food was exceptionally good although I'd admit that the dim lighting did make it hard to see the food clearly. Tapas are bite size in most plates so order at least 2 per person if sharing with a group. The servers were great and took great care when serving the Paella so everyone had a well represented portion. The pricing is a bit high for the food alone so take someone here for a special occasion, not as a regular haunt.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMRomantic vibe for a Saturday nightWent for dinner on a Saturday night with a friend. We were a few minutes late for our reservation, so we were asked to wait in the bar area for our table while we enjoyed a cocktail. Luckily we didn't have to wait long as the bar area was fairly crowded. The ambiance of the restaurant was fabulous and very romantic. My friend is a vegetarian and we planned to split some tapas to start, so our options were limited. We chose the coles y coliflor and also ended up with the fried garbanzo beans - both delicious. We both selected noodle dishes for our entrees and they were able to accomodate a special request on mine for no mushrooms. Only problem was my dish came out long before my friends and I was practically done by the time she got hers.2/2/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent all around!Found you on opentable.com! Everyone's great reviews were spot on. The food and drinks were amazing! We loved the interior. Everything was inviting, comfortable, and I couldn't find a thing to complain about.
Make sure to have the sangria, croquettas, and the potatos! Can't wait to come back.1/1/0001 4:00:00 PM
