Diner Reviews
  • "Sale e Pepe (salt and pepper) is named for everyday ingredients but the dining experience is anything but ordinary. From the gorgeous gulf views to the impeccable service, this was a first class experience. Our waiter, Tomas, was attentive yet unobtrusive. We weren't able to reserve an table outdoors but next time will plan ahead so we can!"

  • "Just ate with my four adult family members, one who is a trained chef from the NYC area. I am also someone who visits the major food happening places wherever I am. This is one of my go to places on the island for a special evening. The food is not only delicious but interesting and the restaurant is elegant and beautiful. Our only disappointment was the poor cocktail service at the outside railing. It took over a half hour to get a drink and the waiter was abrupt. The final insult was we never saw him again, had someone else present us with a bar bill after we were seated at the table and it had an 18% tip included. Sorry I am usually a 20% plus tipper but this person would have received a lot less! "

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Sale e Pepe and plan on returning next time we're in Naples. The unobstructed view at sunset is gorgeous and made for some beautiful pictures. The attentive service was outstanding, and our food was excellent. Many patrons are vacationers, so you will see families with children as well as adults enjoying drinks by the sunset. Something for everyone. Love it, and highly recommend it!"

  • "We had outstanding service, great wine and great food on our recent family dinner @ Sala E Pepe along with a beautiful view of the Gulf! The Ossobuco and Sea Bass were exceptional and a pruciuto ravioli with truffle chowder was sublime. Very pricey, but worth it for a special occasion."

  • "The food was om, but the wait staff had no direction and we're scattered. "

  • "Very nice outdoor dining. Had a chocolate truffle ravioli entree special and a Spanish fish entree. Didn't get the name of the fish but it came with a crunchy skin that was quite tasty. Service excellent. They ran out of the gnocchi special at 7:30 which was unusual and disappointing. Sunset on marco Island made up for the disappointment. "

  • "Once again, Sale e Pepe did not disappoint. We come every visit to Marco Island. The food is always amazing, so beautifully presented. The wine list is very impressive with bottles to fit any budget. The staff is truly beyond comparison. The teamwork approach leaves every guest feeling special."

  • "food and service were excellent. The price however had risen at least $5 per entre since our last visit. This made the meal with tip and wine extremely expensive. We will reserve this for a once a year experience"

  • "read good things, heard good things ---- all true! wonderful service, great menu, extensive wine list (34 pages!) and a beautiful sunset to top it off. Leave the kids at home and enjoy a pleasant (not inexpensive) night out!"

  • "The menu did not have any super fancy items but everything they had in the menu was cooked to perfection and delivered timely. The service was fantastic. In addition the view of the restaurant was simply great!"

  • "As a frequent diner at this fabulous restaurant, and have recommended it to several friends, we are all wondering where the hostess Denise is. Denise would greet us when we walked in, and you knew you were in a special place. She would remember our likes and dislikes, and her professional manner was meshed with her warmth and lovely personality. She would come by the table to make sure everything was perfect. When we recently dined the last few weeks, lovely Gallina was there but no Denise. Please get Denise back at her station. The service is the best around, truly a European dining experience. The food by chef Matarese is fabulous all of the time and his menu is genius."

  • "You generally have to trade off some of the formal elegance when you want to sit outside and dine, but not at Sale Y Pepe. This place is right on the beach. The atmosphere is formal and romantic. The service we received was over the top. Ramona was attentive, polite, and constantly checking on us. We ordered pasta dishes instead of the usual seafood and both were very good The sommelier, though I'm generally not fond of someone telling me what wine to order, recommended a Barbera we've never heard of - and it was excellent for our meal. It's going to cost you to dine here, but it's one place that is truly worth it. Sit down before the sun sets, and spend your evening watching the ball drop on the water."

  • "Its a fancy restaurant right on the beach. Incredible he made pasta dishes! Our service was excellent and the kids loved their meals too. The outdoor seating area is gorgeous. Extensive wine list."

  • "We were treated to the "Sale e Pepe experience" from the moment the Valet greeted us. Service, ambience and veiw were second to none. The magnificeant ocean front setting and a jaw dropping sunset are reason enough to come here. The menu, while a bit pretentious and pricey offers a wide selection for all tastes. My scallops and braised rib was a wonderful variation on the usual surf & turf. Although the mini meatballs did not sound very exciting, this yummy appetizer is made with filet mignon! We enjoyed the Mousse and Tiramasu cheescake, so save room for dessert ."

  • "As always, sale e pepe, is the best Italian on the island! Food, service, ambience...cannot be topped!"

  • "And by the way the food was a sun stunner. Veal cheeks and polenta -best braised beef ever. Companion found Fontodi on wine list ...he was impressed and I got some Fontodi. Mrs had truffled ravioli-her best ever."

  • "Have been here many times. Prices are excessive!! Tonight service was off.... White wine was warm, server was not accommodating as my daughter wanted the scallop dinner without the meat as she is a vegetarian!! The server then proceeded to lecture us that "it would not be the same dish!" NO KIDDING! Dish was served without the meat and nothing else. Service is STIFLING! Will not be returning!"

  • "There is not a more wonderful dining experience in the Naples Marco area than Sale Pepe. My husband and are are frequent fine diners. Everthing about Sale Pepe is remarkable. Had it not been a rainy evening our table was view was wonderful. The service was 5 stars. It was though our waiter Ivo was able to read our minds. The food was delicious and prepared with care. There was not one thing that was not perfect. A must do experience."

  • "This is an outstanding restaurant whether you're talking food, ambiance, or service. The seared foei gras is amont the best I have ever eaten. All four of us were very impressed and will most certainly come back."

  • "Sale e Pepe was one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten in any where. We travel extensively and eat in the finest restaurants in the country. Sale e Pepe rates in our Top 10 nationally and is certaingly the finest dinning experience on Marco Island. We were seated immediately; the ambiance was exquisite; the service impeccable and friendly, and the food was creative and cooked to perfection. We were not rushed to vacate our table for another seating. In fact, we were encouraged to linger, have an after dinner drink, and enjoy our beautiful ocean view. The only reason we can think of that it is not the top rated restaurant on the island may be the cost. Some may think it is expensive but it is well worth it for the dinning experience."

  • "This restaurant was the best restaurant we enjoyed during our stay in Marco Island. !One had to traipse through a verdant garden then a parking structure in order to access this gem, but the short trek was well worth it. Outside diners on the verandah had sweeping views of the ocean; this is the perfect place to have a drink before dinner. Inside it felt like you were in an old luxurious Tuscan villa, with opulent furnishings and luxurious touches throughout. The food was outstanding - the osso bucco enjoyed by my husband was possibly the best he has had. My entrée of home made fettuccine with pancetta carbonara was simple but elegant. The wine list was extensive but reasonable. Service was attentive and cordial. GO!!"

  • "The service was poor for such a high quality restsurant. Our server had too many tables to cover. Fault of the restaurant. The food was good however for the price the portions were skimpy. Veal Osso bucco means veal on the bone our dish was served like a stew with approximately 3 oz of meat."

  • "We dined Friday, March 21 for 6 pm dinner. The time was perfect for 7:30 sunset. Good service. Two main issues: 1) drinks are way over-priced. Sangria was $15. That is not right, and annoying that you don't know drink prices til you get your check. 2) the food was nothing special, had the Gargeneli and the pasta special that night. The real icing on the cake for this being a place we have no interest in returning to is the fact they charge %18 automatic gratuity! Have some courage to believe in your servers to do well and maybe we would be in the mood to tip more than that!"

  • "For the second time at this restaurant we wait for more than one hour between appietizer and main course with no explaination. Very poor service, last Time for us."
    Dined on 3/21/2014
  • "The food was delicious - however the prices and proportions were a bit snooty. The pear and gorgonzola martini (which we had tried before at brunch and was amazing) was terrible and left a foul taste in my mouth for the rest of my vacation. It is also not as Italian as I was hoping - very Northern Italy inspired dishes, instead of a traditional feast that I am used to and expected."

  • "This was my third time here and its always excellent! Baked oysters for appetizer, followed by and excellent pasta dish called garganelli-which had a wild boar sausage with fennel! My husband loved his Branzino! Great wine list-we enjoyed a super-Tuscan which is available by the glass! Impeccable service, our waiter was Tomas, and he guided us through the menu. This is my favorite restaurant on Marco Island. Book early for an outdoor table!"

  • "We were unable to view the sunset or enjoy the bar area that is close to outside due to a wedding reception. The area we had to wait in was not pleasant."

  • "We always appreciate when a restaurant accommodates a table request and Sale e Pepe does. The setting is beautiful overlooking the beach, and perfect for a romantic sunset dinner. The staff is professional and friendly from the hostess to the wait staff to the bus staff. Food is delicious and attractively presented. This is our favorite restaurant in Marco Island and highly recommended."

  • "Took friends from Boston there for the very first time and they had a spectacular experience. Our waitress Reni was AWESOME!! and incredibly thoughtful. She prepared a Congrats biscotti platter (very simple....looked so elegant) for our first time author who's just launched her book and on tour in SWFL! Thank you Sale e Pepe for a wonderful evening and even more to Reni for being the perfect wait star!"

  • "This is a special place and priced accordingly. Food is gourmet, service is exceptional and atmosphere is unique. On a warm night the best seating is on their balcony, which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico and offers one of the best views of the sunset to be enjoyed over cocktails. We did request balcony seating in our Open Table reservation and assumed we would get it since we did not hear differently. Hence our surprise when we arrived and they advised us the balcony was reserved for a large party. We would have appreciated a call or email to at least give us the option to rebook should we wish to do so, given it was a special night with guests. Other than that, it was perfect."

  • "We met a woman at Tommy Bahamas and she casually mentioned Sale e Pepe for great Italian food. We were trusting and made a reservation...and what a find! We loved this restaurant. So glad we blindly trusted her taste!"

  • "Sale e Pepe is a good solid Florida dining experience. That being said, the prices were more like NYC ! We dine there every year and this time we found it to be a little less tasty and a little more $$$. Cocktails were perfect . Salad was nothing special . Grilled Fish of the day was expertly deboned but for $30 , just ok. carbonara just ok . Waitstaff ... The best part , friendly , professional but not hovering . The place is very pretty inside but this is the only time we have been and it wasn't packed. Maybe a reflection of less tasty more $$$."

  • "The experience would have been exceptional, if it wasn't so overpriced. Two of us spent $240 for dinner, including a half bottle of wine ($32). What was really overdone was that with only 2 of us, they still automatically added 18% gratuity. I probably would have tipped more, but it found this offensive / over the top. I understand why a restaurant may do this for large groups, but for 2 people?!? We are not likely to ever go back (even with my large group in my company). Just way too over priced."

  • "Chef Giuliano has created an inventive and varied menu that will appeal to all palates. He is absolutely the best chef in the area. Food and Beverage head, Ivo, keeps a knowledgeable grip on their award-winning wine list, so don't be afraid to ask his advice on wine selection whether it is a mere glass or bottle. He will pair it perfectly with your food. Then just relax and enjoy a gastronomic evening. Tip: book early for sunset dining on there terrace as it is very popular. As about portion size as some are huge on flavor, but not large so big eaters beware."

  • "Great setting.Elegant. Food and presentation way above average.Distinctive without being. Quirky or pretentious.Only downside was noise level for outside dining. Really hard to hear and that's because everyone else is talking and the noise just engulfs the seating area. This should not be a reason not to go there. Have dined at many Marco Island restaurants and this was far above the very best."
