Made reservations through Open Table for a romantic anniversary dinner (13th). Arrived on time and seated in an uncomfortable table in an awkward location. Hostess was disengaged and basically just threw us at our table. Waited almost 20 minutes for someone to bring water or say hello, with about 50% of the restaurant seated. Once we were acknowledged by the waitress, she was great. Food was good . Everything had great spice. Chicken Chicarrones were very good. Veal chop was good, but barely warm. Kale on the plate with the polenta was very good. Beef Saltado style was good. Drinks were great. I recommend the Moscow Mule. A nice place to go for dinner, but probably not for a special occasion.. Advice. Take a little time to read your reservations. All that was expected was a nice table for a special evening.

A friend and I went here on a Friday night, it was a first time for both of us. The ambience is very nice. The staff were friendly. We shared the Peruvian Empanadas and they were awesome. We both have similar taste and ended up ordering the red quinoa encrusted Chilean Sea Bass which was perfectly done and the Peruvian yellow pepper sauce was very delicious. I can't remember the deserts we had but they were awesome. We were so full, we had to take them home. The cocktails were good but not over the top. Friendly waitress Sara really made us comfortable to stay a couple of hours and regularly checked on us through out. This is a great date place for sure.

We had a reservation at Salar on Thursday at 7:15. We were promptly seated and greeted by the waiter, but service went down hill from there. The waiter took over 10 minutes to come back to our table for our drink/appetizer order. The appetizers took 45 minutes to arrive. We ordered our dinner around 7:45, received the salads about 8:45 and the entrees around 9:20. I realize this restaurant is about ambience, but I am really not interested in waiting an hour and a half for dinner. That being said...the food was absolutely phenomenal. I would be willing to give it a second try in hopes that the service is a little faster.

I love this restaurant. Pork bellies - OMG. And I was quite happy to find a Russian River Pinot on the wine list. Met some friends there who arrived late but the staff didn't give me any trouble about our late start. Recommendations were all spot on. Can't wait to come back.

We were there on a Wednesday night between 6 an 8. Staff was friendly but the service was slow. Probably shot 1 server. The bar selections for unique cocktails ,wines and spirits was good, not excellent. Appitizers , entrees, and other food selections were unique and tasty. I think it was a little pricey for what was plated on the dish. I would recommend and try it again.

I made reservations for 5 for my sister's birthday on a Monday night. This is not the first time I've been to Salar and I've always been impressed with this place every time I dine here. I chose this restaurant because the food, cocktails and wine are spectacular, it's a beautiful setting with wonderful ambiance, and the restaurant and service has always been top notch and this visit was no exception! In fact, our server heard it was my sister's birthday and even without me asking brought her out a wonderful birthday dessert, tres leches cake, and it just topped the night! It was a lovely night celebrating the birthday of a loved one in a beautiful setting and everything went perfectly. I HIGHLY recommend this place!

We love restaurants in this area, and Salar is a great addition. 4 of us dined here and had delicious meals. The best part was our waitress, though. She gave us real suggestions based on her own and her customers' experiences, and the advice was right on. We will definitely be returning.

Excellent experience. Lots of gluten free options. The cocktails are made from scratch. Trye the Smoked Tequilla..Excellent. I usually don't pay a lot for a drink-was worth every penny. Our waiter, Steve, provided extraordinary service. I had the Pecan Sage encrusted Salmon-cooked to perfection. Only slight negative is there was too much garlic in the Paella. Appetizers were delicious as was my salad..yes it is just a salad but the combo of arugela, Marcona almond, goat cheese with jam vinegar dressing was perfect! This is clearly a chef who truly knows how to cook!! Restaurant is clean, decor nice, service wonderful. Best overall dining experience we have had. Worth the money!! We will definitely be back..and ask for Steve!

We had a great server who had to juggle us at the same time as two very large groups who were pretty overwhelming. She did a great job and made some good recommendations and cleared up a question I had about a menu item that was listed as gluten free, but was served with bread. Dinner, a cocktail and an appetizer for two of us, plus tip, was about $100 which I suppose is reasonable, but I think the price rating on OpenTable should probably be upped from $$ to $$$.

Fantastic place, the peruvian-tilted menu is different but not over-the-top. Excellent cocktails, including the Moscow Mule made with ginger-infused simple syrup. My wife loves the caprese salad with tapanade, and I love the beef saltado (just the right amount of spice).

Our waiter kept us on point to make sure we arrived at the theater on time. Try the empanadas - they are life changing!! Wine and beer selections were very good - beer on tap would be nice. Portion size was perfect. We had drinks, appetizers and entrees and DID NOT break the bank. Valet parking a great touch...one less thing to worry about. Came back after the concert for a night cap in the bar. The bar is beautiful, but the drinks were less than spectacular - which was somewhat disappointing after a great dining experience. We will be back. This place is a gem in the Gem City.

The restaurant has a modern feel. I enjoyed the contemporary design and feel Salar. They have a unique cocktail menu and a knowledgeable staff. The menu was more limited than what I was expecting. The food was good but nothing special. You are definitely paying for the atmosphere and drink election when it comes to Salar. One thing I dislike is a rocky table. I liked the seat in front of the window so I chose to stay at the table after they wanted to move us to a table in front of a mirror. They tried to fix the table but it was broken under the top on the shaft. Replace the tables. They aren't that expensive. For the cost of my meal I would have tipped more and definitely have came back. With so many choices in Dayton I don't know if I'll return.

My husband doesn't like cilantro, so I was a bit nervous about going to Salar, since I know the chef favors that spice. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and steered us toward delicious, cilantro-free items on the menu. The chorizo empanadas (special seasonal menu) were amazing! We wished we had ordered more. Also, the cocktail selection was unique and refreshing. I definitely recommend!

Visited on a quiet Monday and received the royal treatment from host, manager, and waitress. Cannot say enough about our waitress, one of the best ever. Talked with us about the drink and food menus, listened to our questions, and made great recommendations. The menu had so many options that it was hard to pick. The empanadas were amazing! We had the sole and the pork filet mignon for dinner. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection. We had coffee with a wonderful lucuma mousse (fruit from Peru) and it was delicious. Our son is a freshman at University of Dayton, so this was our first visit to Salar. What a great find for us. OpenTable reviews were spot on. The food was unique interesting and delicious. The waitstaff was outstanding. Our bartender was pompous, but did make an Great cocktail. We had the seared tuna and chorzio empanada appetizers which were both excellent. The fried call Calamari was very average. We would not order that again. Our entrées across-the-board or outstanding. We will definitely be back

We've been there several times and had the same impression as before. Food is great - service wonderful. Inside is a bit noisy for a quiet dinner. The music is beyond "background". It required yelling sometimes to be heard across the table. Of course the groups in the adjacent tables also were yelling which didn't help. Get a table on the back patio or the front sidewalk area for a quieter experience.
