Our waiter kept us on point to make sure we arrived at the theater on time. Try the empanadas - they are life changing!! Wine and beer selections were very good - beer on tap would be nice. Portion size was perfect. We had drinks, appetizers and entrees and DID NOT break the bank. Valet parking a great touch...one less thing to worry about. Came back after the concert for a night cap in the bar. The bar is beautiful, but the drinks were less than spectacular - which was somewhat disappointing after a great dining experience. We will be back. This place is a gem in the Gem City.

Everything was nice, but upon presentation of the bill, discovered the waiter upcharged us vs menu prices for the drinks. His defense was "Sir, you received a Martini pour." Truly a lame trick in a spot known for its fancy cocktails. Nevertheless, a enjoyable time.

The restaurant has a modern feel. I enjoyed the contemporary design and feel Salar. They have a unique cocktail menu and a knowledgeable staff. The menu was more limited than what I was expecting. The food was good but nothing special. You are definitely paying for the atmosphere and drink election when it comes to Salar. It is an ideal location for a special dinner date in the Dayton area.

One thing I dislike is a rocky table. I liked the seat in front of the window so I chose to stay at the table after they wanted to move us to a table in front of a mirror. They tried to fix the table but it was broken under the top on the shaft. Replace the tables. They aren't that expensive. For the cost of my meal I would have tipped more and definitely have came back. With so many choices in Dayton I don't know if I'll return.

It was affordable and some of the best food I have ever eaten. We had the most amazing beef pastry appetizer. My husband had a pizza for dinner and I had the surf and turf. I have never eaten steak so juicy for the price. I would go there over and over again. They even have a valet service, which was very friendly.

My husband doesn't like cilantro, so I was a bit nervous about going to Salar, since I know the chef favors that spice. However, we were pleasantly surprised. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and steered us toward delicious, cilantro-free items on the menu. The chorizo empanadas (special seasonal menu) were amazing! We wished we had ordered more. Also, the cocktail selection was unique and refreshing. I definitely recommend!

Salar always offers a upscale feel and great food. The Manager always greets us and makes us feel special. I would note that the food was not hot and the waitress forgot my salad. The bar took extra time for some reason even though they were not busy. The complimentary valet parking is wonderful.

Visited on a quiet Monday and received the royal treatment from host, manager, and waitress. Cannot say enough about our waitress, one of the best ever. Talked with us about the drink and food menus, listened to our questions, and made great recommendations. The menu had so many options that it was hard to pick. The empanadas were amazing! We had the sole and the pork filet mignon for dinner. Both were excellent and cooked to perfection. We had coffee with a wonderful lucuma mousse (fruit from Peru) and it was delicious. Highly recommended!

Our son is a freshman at University of Dayton, so this was our first visit to Salar. What a great find for us. OpenTable reviews were spot on. The food was unique interesting and delicious. The waitstaff was outstanding. Our bartender was pompous, but did make an Great cocktail. We had the seared tuna and chorzio empanada appetizers which were both excellent. The fried call Calamari was very average. We would not order that again. Our entrées across-the-board or outstanding. We will definitely be back

We've been there several times and had the same impression as before. Food is great - service wonderful. Inside is a bit noisy for a quiet dinner. The music is beyond "background". It required yelling sometimes to be heard across the table. Of course the groups in the adjacent tables also were yelling which didn't help. Get a table on the back patio or the front sidewalk area for a quieter experience.

complimentary valet, good reception, we ordered drinks, manhattans and old fashioned are measured so you get a half of glass; we got something like pitta bread good; empanada filling spicy but blend, Peruvian seafood rice, very blend, surf and turf very blend, tres leches desert very good, we even shared a tres leches with a German couple that sat next to us. Mark the server was excellent, but the blend food is not going to bring us back and the way they serve the drinks also Is not going to bring us back. My wife and I dined here on Saturday evening. This easily is one of the best restaurants in the area. Something different for an area that badly needs new and innovative cuisine. The cocktail menu has a great list of drinks they were different and delicious. We had split the the pork belly appetizer. It was very good! We both opted for salads she had the special bok choy salad I had the Salar house. Both were very good. The house could have used a little more seasoning. The Seafood rice dish reminded me of paella and was loaded with shellfish. The sea bass was awesome large piece cooked as good as I have ever had. The rice side was different but tasty. Service was attentive but not to much.We would return again.

Decided to try Salar while in Dayton with my husband and daughter. The entrees were creative and absolutely delicious. I had the red quinoa crusted sea bass. It was oh so good. We ordered two appetizers - the empanadas cannot be missed! We would go back again if in Dayton. Note to non Dayton-ers - while the internal ambiance was wonderful, the restaurant was in an up and coming area - I would emphasize the coming more than up. "Adults only" stores also line the 2-3 block area of this "Oregon district."

Our meal selection this time was not as good as past visits. In our opinion, the swordfish was not good and the sole was a little too heavily sauced. Our other three meals were good to very good. The empanadas appetizer was excellent, probably the meal's highlight. The service, as usual, was very friendly and very attentive. It's a very good point about this place. The wine list is also very good, and another reason to return.

Eventhough we drove from Cincinnati, coming back every one in the party said it was well worth the drive. Very comfortable dinning area, friendly and extremely attentive server. Food was delicious, loved the appetizers we had. I had pork belly in appetizer for the first time and it was out of this world. My son loved the Chicken Cheechreita's. Mouth full of flavors. My son and I had sea food rice, kid of Payaya, it was the best I had ever. I mean it, presentation was lovely and had all the flavors I was looking for, just perfect. My wife had rack of lamb, according to her she is planning to do second visit, specially the resotto that came with it, woderfull. We will be there again very soon, I know it with some more friends and family.

If you like something besides meat and potatoes, go to Salar. The server was very knowledgeable regarding the wine and food, so we experimented with two items that were very good and fairly low calorie. My husband said his meal wasn't as hot as he would have liked, but quite delicious as stated by our server. As usual, temp was too cool for my taste, but server adjusted. I am so tired of restaurants that the AC is turned so low that I have to wear a sweater. Know the help likes it that way, but be reasonable.

The food at Salar is amazing. I highly recommend the scallops and quinoa crusted sea bass. That being said, the service was mediocre at best. Extremely long wait (30 minutes) between appetizers being served, and dinner orders being taken. When we told the waitress we were ready to order our dinner, she became snippy. From the time we were seated, and until the time we received our bills was 3 hours. 3 hours for dinner service is excessive.

With one minor exception, I loved this restaurant. It is not another chain restaurant, has a real urban feel, and the food is great. I had never tried Peruvian food but the spices and flavorings were very good. The only downside was the pisco sour. I was so looking forward to it after having the most wonderful one in Santiago Chile last year. Probably Peruvians and Chileans have different definitions of this drink, but it just tasted like a not so good whiskey sour to me. The pavlova for dessert was wonderful. We will go again.
