  • "Awesome restaurant... Food was unbelievable! Drinks were amazing! Will definitely be going back!"

  • "The food was good and showed well. However, the price tag was way too high for Dayton Ohio. My wife and I took our son and daughter. The kids had chicken chunks from the appetizer menu and shared a shrimp appetizer. My wife and I had fish entrees and 2 drinks each. The bill for that was north of $150. There are many other restaurants in the area that serve better food for a much more reasonable price. We wouldn't go back. .."

  • "My first visit to Salar was outstanding. I can report no faults whatsoever with the food, drinks, service or facility. We started with the chicken thigh appetizer, which I liked much more than I thought I would. They were not greasy and the sauce really complimented the chicken. I got the pork filet mignon and my friend got the pork chops and we shared. Both entrees were delicious and we cleaned our plates! While the food was scrumptious, the drinks are really something to write home about. We each had two and tasted each other’s – all four were outstanding. The ones we tried were: Lima to Lima, Dark & Stormy, La Pasion and Cortes. You must try at least one of these unique, top-shelf cocktails. I cannot wait to return!"

  • "There were three of us having dinner at Salar before going to the theater. We told our waiter our time schedule and he honored it perfectly. Margeux, the owner chef, stopped by our table for a chat makIng us feel welcomed. All three of us ordered the sole and we loved every bite. The servings were generous without being overwhelming; their house special cocktails were delicious with fresh fruit; the valet parking is a great feature, as well."

  • "Trendiness that you would think you are in one of U.S.'s top ranked cities. First line restaurant, great preparation and tastes. Dayton Ohio is lucky to have such a fine chef and restaurant owner."

  • "I chose Salar for a friends bachelorette party dinner. The ambience was perfect and the food was amazing. We had a small intimate little room for our group which allowed us to get a little silly without disrupting the other guests. My only complaint would be that our service was a little slow, but it wasn't a big deal since we enjoyed just hanging out."

  • "The food is always very good. Chef does a great job. Attended Wine and food pairing. Very well put together. Disappointed that open table does not give you points for this. So far I have not been pleased with open table, because I receive no points for Restaurants I have had dinner at. Example Eddie Merlot's. The Preceinct. I have sent E-Mail's to open table, but have not received a reply."

  • "We had six celebrating my wife's birthday! The Salar staff made her feel special and the food was AWESOME! My wife and I have been there often, the other 4 now have a new favorite restaurant."

  • "still waiting to try ALL the drink and food specials that YOU said you were offering during the course of the night. what a disappointment. staff was CLUELESS about the specials. the food consisted of 2 items, drinks came from a happy hour menu which was unappealing. music was ok,"

  • "The booth in which we were seated was very uncomfortable. The foursome at the table next to us was a little loud but friendly. The seats on the booth were extremely short and there was no leg room. My husband and I were kicking each other all night. My husband ordered the sirloin with scallops, the scallops were delicious but the sirloin was dry, over cooked and horrible. I ordered the sole which had a sauce and cheese crust. There was too much sauce and I did not enjoy the fish. We did however enjoy our salad and corn chowder. I think the seating left us anxious to be done eating and ready to go home."

  • "From start to finish we had a wonderful dining experience. Our server, Natalie, was very helpful with recommendations. We enjoyed the complimentary pita chips and cilantro hummus brought while we waited for our entrees. We ordered the rack of lamb and shrimp skewers. Both were outstanding! We followed with a wonderful dessert mousse whose names escapes me, but whose taste I long to have again! We look forward to returning to try more of the wonderful dishes. Also, the outdoor patio looked very inviting and we look forward to the warm weather to try that out."

  • "This place serves Peruvia food, not Mediterranean, All the dishes ordered were over cooked and dried, especially the Pork Belley and the Pork Tenderloin. My Chilean Sea Bass was not very fresh, came with a sauce that was bland and tasteless. The service, however, was nice. Our server, Sara, is friendly and efficient, she did keep my tea repleshed nicedly. The serving are generous, but, if the food is not good, we really do not need generous servings. I will not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends."

  • "We were pleasantly surprised with our visit to Salar. It is on the pricey side and portions are small, but it's nice for a date night or special night out. It is very lively, but it's also super loud so you have to 'shout' to be heard. The cocktails are fun and tasty at $9+ and the beer selection is decent and averagely priced ($4-6). We had the scallop appetizer ($17) (excellent) and beef empanadas ($9)(just ok). For entrees we had the pork filet with potatoes ($14)(excellent), the scallops and steak (just ok)($27), the quinoa crusted fish (great), and the lamb special ($29)(good). Four cocktails, 2 beers, 1 iced tea, 2 aptzrs, 4 entrees, no dessert totaled over $200. When we feel like splurging, I would go back again."

  • "We had a wonderful experience and will definitely go back. Our waiter was attentive but not over bearing, the portions were sized perfect, the food was amazing and the drinks from the bar were truly exceptional."

  • "Fabulous! Beautiful place, attention to detail, great bar with cocktails created for them, exotic ingredients. I like to watch my cocktail being made - it's like a chemistry experiment - a few drops of this, a few drops of that - to make it turn out great. Outstanding food with a South American influence."

  • "I have been mourning the demise of Sidebar since it closed in this space about a year or so ago. I'm mourning no longer--Salar is a very worthy replacement. My group of 2 grew to 6 and then 7 at the last second, and they were very accommodating every time. Everyone was very impressed with their food--no complaints whatsoever. Mark, our server, was very good, and when we told him we'd have to rush to get to a show, he expedited our checks as well. We'll all be back!"

  • "We caught a quick bite before a show. Food was delicious! Was hard to choose amongst all the great options so we'll definitely be back. Service was great! Place is cute. We sat in the front but I realized there are seceral more intimate spots in the back so we'll be requesting that next time."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful dinner and great service. The food was really good. Salar is a trendy restaurant. Nice atmosphere. It was a bit noisy though. My husband and I had a hard time talking in the area we were seated. However, the service was fantastic. We plan on returning. Maybe to try out lunch during the warmer weather."

  • "Owner/ Maitre D...just wonderful and accommodating! Food was more impressive our first time there (Filet & Stuffed Chicken), but still good on our second visit (Fish and Pork Chops). Atmosphere is inviting but too congested and loud to consider for romantic or intimate engagements. Wait staff is perfunctory but not personable; wasn't even given a name on either visit. All in all, I highly recommend."

  • "We had dined her previously, but this time all four of us had off the chart dinners Service could not have been better. The food is bit different from typical .dayton menus and should not intimidate anyone, the prep and tastes are very very good! They have added some baffling to the ceiling but the noise is still a bit much on a busy evening. Highly recommend !"

  • "Had an app salad and margarita. Just enough. Décor was modern. Staff very friendly and helpful. Could not afford to go there often, but they did offer well drinks for 6.00. My well margarita was 9.95. very small and not the best recipe. Prices vary, you could spend over $100.00 very easy for two people. There was a nice bar business. We will be back for cocktails. A great night out. (LORI)"

  • "We recently had reservations at Salar for a birthday party celebration. I reserved the table through OpenTable (Yelp), and requested the Chef's Table. I had read reviews saying it was a great spot. I wasn't able to get a custom menu made before the party, but it really wasn't needed. Everything we had that night was outstanding. Pork belly and Empanadas for appetizers were great and shared. Our waitress suggested a wine and we ended up getting 3 bottles by the end of the meal. The meals were all great, I HIGHLY recommend the Duck Ragu Ravioli. I am not a mushroom fan at all (which this dish has a LOT of) but I could have licked my plate it was so delicious. Others in the group had the salmon, lasagna and another pork dish. All were great."

  • "As past patrons of Pacchia's and SideBar, we are so glad to see that the wonderful dining experience at this great location continues with Salar. Salar offers the ambience, menu selections, and service that you would expect from a fine restaurant. If we lived downtown, we would love to walk to Salar. As it is, we gladly make the 30 minute drive to dine there."

  • "First time visiting Salar. The food was great and the staff was very friendly. Our server made several recommendations on drinks and food that were excellent. The menu is varied from more traditional type entrees, to those that are more adventurous. We got more adventurous and loved the meals. Know it is difficult, but you must save room for dessert!"

  • "Finally a great place to dine and have great drinks. The Bartender was full of life. Got to meet the Owner, chef........ The restaurant is very chic and sexy. Can't wait to go back and bring friends."

  • "I love the cuisine of Peru. When I found out through my friend that the owner was peruvian, I had to try it out. The cerviche was fabulous, the spinach ravioli was wonderful. Lima has great cuisine from many different cultures and I think Salar reflects that. I will visit again!"

  • "We were there on a Saturday night with another couple. I think there was only one server for the entire restaurant. Service was not only very slow, but one person's food didn't come out until the rest of us had finished our meals. They were apologetic about it but made for a disappointing evening. The server kept coming over and said her knew we were ready to order but that he'd "be right back". This happened for over 15 minutes before we could place an order. Drinks took forever; at one point we even forgot that someone had ordered another beer when it arrived after we asked for the check. All in all, wouldn't go back or recommend."

  • "We took a risk and spent our Valentine's dinner at a new restaurant that we read good things about online and we were not disappointed! The ambience was perfect, dark, energetic, lots of neat little spots within the restaurant and of course the food was outstanding! We ordered the Chicken Thigh chicharrones and Chorizo and Sherry appetizers, both were flavorful and just wonderful! My husband ordered the Pork Chops with a cherry apple glaze (which he very much enjoyed) and I ordered the Seafood Rice and it was just delicious. The kicker was when I ordered a Shirley Temple (due to health reasons I cannot drink) and because they did not have grenadine, the bartender muddled raspberries with sugar and added it to soda water- crazy good!"

  • "We were seated in the bar area right by the front door on a blustery cold night, so every time someone came in or out we were hit with a cold wind. Drinks took forever to get and were very weak. One person in my group received the wrong entree and the female server argued with her that she ordered wrong, she finally agreed to fix it but by the time the right entree came out the other 5 of us were done eating. They did not make any adjustments to the bill to reflect this mistake. She brought us our checks and we told her we wanted dessert still so she picked them back up and added desserts to them. The food was good but not anything to rave about. I will not be recommending this place to anyone."

  • "Second time going to Salar & it was better this time than the first! The special Valentine's dishes were fantastic. The beef tenderloin was cooked perfectly & the Seabass was fresh & flaky. Our server was helpful, knowledgeable and available. Wine was perfect. Had a great dining experience and will be back soon"
