  • "We were expecting a 5 Star experience, but what we received was a 2 Star experience. We are serious foodies, and it didn't measure up. We were seated in the main dining area even though outdoor and more private seating was available. When we asked, we were not offered another table. My wife's dish was sent back because it was inedible, and it took us 10 minutes to get our servers attention to inform him of the problem. As any good restaurant should do and to their credit, they did remove the item from the check. If you want to have a fine dining experience don't waste your time here. This place can only be described as ostentatious. They think very highly of themselves and let you know that. Their opinion of themselves is not warranted."

  • "The service was terrible took about 15 minutes to get bread/appetizer. Then took roughly 45 minutes to receive our entree. There were several tables that received their food way ahead of us and had larger groups. The food was good, but not great. The dining area was trying to be cozy and romantic but just ended up feeling cramped. I would not recommend going here unless enjoy wasting money."

  • "You walk through the terrific noise of Ocean 31 with its exciting music and enthusiastic folks, past the cooks and busy waiters -- getting in their way, but they don't mind -- then go through the door to Salacia into silence and space and graciousness, a sweet view of the beach, and the best damn food you ever enjoyed. It's our idea of the perfect experience."

  • "We have been to Salacia 3 times now, first being recommended by a friend. Every time thus far has been absolutely amazing. The first time my boyfriend and I went was for our anniversary. My boyfriend went early to drop off roses and a card, and the management took complete care of everything. The roses and card were on the perfect table overlooking the ocean when we arrived. I would recommend this restaurant to any one in the Virginia Beach area. My boyfriend said it was the best steak he has ever had in his life."

  • "It was our 1st time at Salacia and we were not disappointed. We had very excellent service and the food was awesome. It was my Husband's 50th Birthday and I surprised him with Dinner for 2. He enjoyed it very much. The best steaks that I think we have ever had, they were very tender and had an awesome taste. The Desserts are to die for. We will definitely be back to visit in the future. Thank you very much!"

  • "The food was excellent, had the steak and shrimp which the shrimp was huge and steak was good. A little extra seasoning would have made it perfect. Waiter was excellent. I didn't like the fact that the closest restroom was co-ed though, went in and there was urine on the toilet."

  • "This was our second visit to Salacia and we enjoyed it. It was a great night for Salacia since the place was packed. The previous time we visited Salacia it was the OFF season and the place was more relaxed. We will go back again but we will ensure that it is during the off season since we prefer a more relaxed dining experience. The food was worth what we paid for it and our service that Stephen provided was very good. We had a table for four and got to meet our Nephews girlfriend so the comapany was great. We enjoyed the wine, they have two Paul Hobbs wines to choose from and we like both of them. All of us enjoyed the steaks and the baked potatoes were big. Naturally we ordered more than we should have but we enjoyed all of it."

  • "Filet mignon and grilled shrimp -- shrimp awesome, steak overcooked, sent back and returned perfect. Kitchen sent me a potato dish and 4 more shrimp as a very nice apology/compensation! The short ribs were very tender with outstanding flavor. The salads were gorgeous, interesting,fresh, crisp and pretty. All The food had a beautiful presentation! It was a very quiet weekend in VA Beach and none of the restaurants were very crowded so it was an especially relaxing, attentive and quiet evening. The wine is a little expensive. We did not have dessert."

  • "My wife and I went here for our anniversary and it was very nice. We had to walk through the bar/lounge area, which was crowded and noisy, to get to the dining area. Once there, the ambience of the restaurant completely changed. The food was excellent, as written in Coastal Virginia Magazine. This was the only place in this area where you can get a whole fish served to you. The fish was very good, but I thought flounder was burnt on one side. It was completely black and hard and I should have turned it away but I didn't want to wait another 15-20 minutes to get another one."

  • "Every time we go to we are impressed again and again. This is arguably the best restaurant in the whole area. You can always count on the service being top notch, in fact it's the only restaurant we can count on the service being top-notch every time. Even though it is expensive by local standard it is well worth every penny. Stakes are tender juicy cooked to perfection, the sides are ample and tasty. It is definitely not a place for children, which I highly appreciate. Take your loved one and enjoy a very special evening."

  • "We went to Salacia for our anniversary dinner, and were very disappointed. Couldn't have a table by the window. Five minutes after we arrived one cleared. Waiting for one was not offered, and a request to move wasn't accommodated because "we’d gotten water”. The rest of the seating at Salacia is poor. Bring something to text with your dinner partner. We were closer to the people at the tables on either side than to each other. It provided conversation for three of us at one end of each our tables that could not hear our dinner companions. The crab cake appetizer was excellent. The remainder of the dinner was nothing remarkable. My steak was ok. My wife's salmon was overly salty. The dessert, was visually appealing, but of average taste."

The food is delicious, w/ high quality steaks a standout, but equally good is a recent addition of a salt braked whole fish which was fresh, moist and quite luscious. The wine list is notable & waiters are helpful. This restaurant is a winner in all categories."

  • "The food and surroundings didn't disappoint us this time either. However, the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with the Saturday night full crowd. It took about ten minutes to get three glasses of water filled when we sat down because there were no full water pitchers. The rest of the meal it seemed like our waiter had more tables than he could handle, so service was somewhat spotty throughout our visit. Hope the service manpower shortfall will be corrected by our next visit."

  • "This was our second time dining here, the first time we were seated outside in the quite and secluded cabana's this time we were seated on the interior. Our last trip was absolutely amazing from top to bottom, wine to dessert and the wait was worth it, 2 hrs without a reservation.This time we made a reservation and they were able to take us early. We had the entire place to our selves for 90% of the meal. The food was not quite up to the high bar that was set in the past and neither was the service. There was quite a bit of time between courses and the wait staff was no where to be found. Over all still a great experience and the manager was very helpful and one of the waiters seemed to be training and not quite up to par."

  • "Wonderful place to go for a romantic atmosphere and the food was amazing. The portions were for the side dishes were more than expected. The amount would have fed three of us. We aren't wine drinkers, but for those who are this would be an excellent place to go. They had plenty of options. The staff was very friendly and met our expectations.   • "The atmosphere was quiet and romantic, just the ticket for our anniversary. We sat at a window table that offered a beautiful view of the ocean and boardwalk. My husband had the special, filet mignon with blue crab and hollandaise sauce served with asparagus. He said it was tender, juicy and full of flavor. In short, the best he'd ever had. I don't eat meat or dairy products and knew I might have to just have a salad. However, our waiter offered a few options that he believed the chef could prepare. I chose a Portobello mushroom stacked with grilled vegetables and topped with sliced pears. I'm still dreaming about it. Absolutely delicious! A wonderful dining experience in a beautiful restaurant with excellent service."

The portions were surprisingly robust and they had a great Cab bottle choice for $30 that was fitting for our friends - we got two bottles.   • "An outstanding fine dining restaurant that offers something for every palate. The dining room was quiet, romantically lit and offered a nice view of the Atlantic and Virginia Beach boardwalk. The Wood Grilled Jumbo Shrimp was delicious. Steak was very good, however, I recommend you go lower on your cooking selection. I asked for medium and it was closer to medium well. It was still excellent. Salacia's offers ala carte and we ordered sauteed mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes but with the sides that came with the orders was too much food. The sides were well prepared though. Service was exceptional. The restaurant is pricey but worth it. We will definitely return and recommend to all!"
